TSMSPJ episode: 12 ~15.4.17~ My Impressions~ Thorn in the flesh ..
In life we often suffer the sharp point of a thorn in our sides, figuratively speaking. The thorn that annoys could be someone or even a nasty habit of ours that causes us frustration and makes us look impolite in public like sleeping through speeches! But more so it's others we fail to see eye to eye with, who have more chance of being a source of constant irritation, annoyance, frustration to us. The smarting becomes worse if one has to for whatever reason, put up with the trouble caused by the thorn. The episode today is an interesting sample of this saying, although the story so far carries this theme broadly. It appears to Kanak and all others , that she is the thorn in her Bhabo's side. As it stands, this thorn causes trouble and niggles the Rathi family, as the reason for this bitter and prickly thorn is unspecified even after a span of twenty years.
Seeking out the sandalwood fragrance girl..is very nearly, an irritating thorn in Uma's flesh. Her note in his hand lingers to connect with her. His ring around the nameless, mysterious girl's finger, runs rings around him. Further digs the thorn in his side, with the jeweller's reply. Looks like a waiting! let tomorrow be it! and not now! as in today. The thorn of persevering digs in deeper in his side.
Like the mistress of a manor , Meenakshi bears the thorn of the gossip mongering house maid Rani. The partition in the family gives Rani more importance in her mistress's eyes. Meenakshi like most mothers has a pressing thorn in her side, as she aspires to finding a pretty girl for her obese son Gola, as the name indicates. Meenakshi is content and thriving in her lifestyle.yet has a Vikram sized gap in her life..things once were bliss, now are misery. They both live as thorns in each other's sides... but then ,does the sharp tongue Meenakshi choose to live life as it is?
Remarkable moment, quite poignant when a mother in law comes down her matriarchal pedestal and seeks her daughter in law to relieve her from the thorn in her flesh. I noticed a certain respect almost reverence of relationships between Meenakshi and Bhabo. Babho is the proud yet diplomatic MIL. Shrewdly she manipulates Meenakshi by praising her obedience , respect and regards for what ever ,she as her MIL asked for in the past. Bhabo displays sincere humility and makes it know that she approaches Meenakshi as a DIL with great expectations that she will undertake a task, that for her is difficult to undertaken. That of giving away Kanak. Here Meenakshi too recognises that she is a bartering position. Thus she strikes deal with Bhabo.. yes she would give Kanak away, but in return her demand is that Bhabo oust Vikram's love child Pavan out of the house!! In terms of causing frustration , both thorns Kanak and Pavan are in terms of equal weight age But Bhabo rejects Meenakshi's condition. and what becomes evident is that Bhabo disregards a scorned wife's sentiments by accepting her sons Vikram's illegitimate child into the family home. Meenakshi yelps in pain and in all honesty comes clean with Bhabo that Pavan is a thorn in her flesh! For in the child she sees day in and day out! the moment when Bhabo's son Vikram and her husband cheated upon her!! The deal is off!! as both women are once again lumbered by the pain of their respective thorn in their side.. mind you Meenakshi gives Bhabo a snide remark that perhaps by giving away Kanak , she will for once, uphold and act justly to the female child of her family. Meenaskhi suggests that Bhabo hangs on to Pavan, even though he is illegitimate, because he is a boy, a continuation of the family name? and Kanak? a girl she considers a thorn in her side and is getting rid of her a.s.a.p. overall it was scene where emotions were almost sincere. Felt like the dividing walls were crumbling , but naught! On the other hand Meenakshi's refusal and her condition, might just be another push by destiny to force Bhabo into giving Kanak away .
Meenakshi wants the best for Kanak and tips Mayank on what the girl would love from the bottom of her heart! A trip to her parent's confectionary shop. But the experience turns out to be a bitter nightmare! As bitter memories of the past conjure up before Kanak! when she entered the shop, and her Bhabo indignantly threw her out of the shop!as one unholy who desecrated the sacred ground of Suraj and Sandhya s shop! For Kanak to this day she is banned by Bhabo from setting foot in the shop! Kanak runs out of the shop and down Hanuman lane! Old memories of how Bhabo frantically washed, swept ,with water purifying it clean from Kanak's unwanted footsteps!! In the scene Bhabo refers to the shop as being pure as a temple.. little does she realize that the heart, the seat of love is the temple of deities.. and it's Bhabo's heart that needs to be sanitized and purified from all hatred and malice against Kanak.
The magic of the ring.. which speaks a silent language both to the one who owns it and the one who wears it by some twist of destiny. For this ring is no ordinary ring.. it is a full circle ordained by the gods! Try as much as she does, Kanak at the jewellers ends up with a sore finger, as the stubborn ring refuses to come off! A sign from the deities.. the ring is set for Kanak's hand! On the other Uma is still preoccupied with the fragrant encounters with the sandalwood essence girl. The jeweller disappointed him, but the scriptures never fail to iron out his most knotted problems. He opens the scriptures and delves into the Ramayan for answers , regards this ring ,that belongs to him, but graces Kanak's finger!.. Uma's finger points to the words.. one sight of her gives you joy, fills your heart with happiness..if you keep to following your dreams, god will help you to fulfil them.. Uma dreams, a garland, her bangle, her lantern; her note; her sandalwood fragrance,.. Uma smiles ,yes he understands the signals from the deities, perhaps that's why he keeps encountering her.The sandalwood essence girl..knowingly and unknowingly..and now the ring too is in her possession .With clasped hands he accepts the divine order.. she is the one, chosen for him..yes he smiles broadly , he accepts the will of the deities..
The thorn that annoys Uma is that he wants to see with his eyes! As it so happens, both end up at the photography shop, he for getting a photo frame for a wall picture! Kanak is there to get her passport photo done for visa to London. Providence once again play's the game of hide and seek. They don't see each other. But whilst coming out of the photographers in the door way, happily mind her own business! drinking water from her bottle, Kanak collides with Uma! spills water on his photo frame that he hangs on to! Her envelope of photos falls and some water gets it!.. Vansh drags her away as Uma looks on. Can he smell the fragrance of the sandalwood? hamlet53, 16.4.17
So, the truth about Pavan is confirmed.. personally I found meena/bhabo scene quite powerful.Uma is clearly charged up by this sandalwood girl.. precap shows high drama.. Bhabo self harms, with a view to get out of giving away Kanak... Kanak demands to know why??
