Part 19
"Speech! come Gauri you have to say something!" Shashank said taking hold of her arm and turning her around to face everyone. He walked over toward the crowd and looked at her as she blushed not knowing what to say. She looked around the room at the familiar faces and looked at Shiv as he stood next to Ipshita staring at her.
"Come on Gauri!" Shashank shouted.
Shiv looked at her as she smiled at Shashank and nodded.
"I would like to thank everyone for coming and supporting me today! But this would not have been possible if it was not of that someone special who believed in me and encourage me …..
Everyone turned to look at Shiv.
"Today I would like to thank them and tell them how much I love them," she added.
Shiv stared at her as she looked back over towards Shashank as she walked slowly towards him. He felt upset and looked nervous as she stopped to look at him. A feeling of angry sank into his body as he saw her eyes sparkled as she looked over at Shashank with such love as she stepped forward she took hold of Dadi. As the tears ran down her face she looked over at everyone.
"I love you Dadi for helping start me start my new business and for giving me the support I so need," she said looking over at Shiv.
Dadi smiled at her and wiped her tears………
"Well I hope you have apologised!" she said looking at him.
"She is not talking to me," he said looking at Ipshita.
"Well do you blame her? ….I can't believe you never asked if she need any help. Did you know Dadi and Dada were helping her with the finances?" she asked shaking her head at him.
"I've been very busy and she never asked," he said annoyed.
"Ask? Jez Shiv you're her husband…. since when have Anupam and I ever asked you for help you support us through everything. Are you really that busy that you can't spend 10 minutes with your wife?" she shouted.
He looked at her as she spoke to him.
"I uh…
"You do love her right? ….I mean we all know how much she loves you. She supports you through everything and today you didn't turn up. She defended you in front of everyone when they asked were you where," she said looking at him.
Anupam stared at them in the garden from his bedroom window as they looked at each other talking…
He watched her all evening how she avoided him even in the bedroom when he came out of the bathroom her bedside light was off and she lay in bed. Tears ran down her face as she remembers the numerous times he spoke to her harshly and never supported her once or asked if she need any help. He always totally ignore her when ever she enter the room and the look of relief on his face when someone walked into the room….He turned over and heard her crying and moved closure to her. He slowly reached over and placed his hand on her shoulder. "I am sorry!" he said as he leaned over towards her. She wiped her tears and lay still not wanting to move, as she knew how much he regretted marrying her. He smiled and moved closer to her and could feel the warmth of her body next to him. Her soft satin fabric touched his bare skin as he moved closer. "Are you going to stop crying now!" he asked gentle as he took hold of her hand under the covers. Surprised by his warmth a little smile formed on her lips but she was still upset with him. "I said I was sorry!" he said placing his head gentle on top of hers feeling her soft silky hair on his face. She could feel his warmth breath kissing her face and closed her eyes as his musky cologne enhanced her senses.
"I was held up and could not get away. I'm really very sorry. It will not happen again. You are going to forgive me," he whispered. His husky voice boomed in her ears and she gentle nodded. She felt his hand squeak her hand in gratitude as he slowly release her and moved back over towards his side of the bed…..
"Seminar?" she asked looking at him confused.
"Ipshita I told you I'm driving to Poona. I have business to take care off and a seminar to attend. Why are you getting so worked up?" he asked throwing his suitcase in the boot annoyed.
"Because you never mentioned it but I wanted….
"Look Ipshita we don't all get what we want in life," he said opening the car door.
"What is that suppose to mean?" she asked.
"I getting tired of this whole thing lately asking me where I am, I need some spare," he said firmly.
"Space?" she said annoyed.
He looked at her and knew she was upset and got in the car as he just need to get away from her. She opened the passenger door angrily and glared at him.
"This is what I am talking about. Look Ipshita this is clearly not working and I can't do this anymore…I think we should just take a break from each other," he said starting the car. She glared at him angrily and slammed the door. Tearfully she watched him drive away………..
The 24 hour city looked so beautiful in the early morning as she looked over towards the other joggers she smiled. She like jogging and when she found out that like in Kolkatta there was a park near by she could resist. As she looked at her watch it was fast approaching 7.00am and turned back towards the Kapoor Mansion. "Better get there quick as Massima is going to call me as usual," she thought as she ran down the path. "Kaaya" she turned to see Vivaan by her side as she jogged. He looked at her curiously as he had not seen her in the park before. They stopped to catch their breath and look at each other.
Vivaan stared at her as she caught her breath and to see the sweat on her brow. She looked so different in her sports wear.
"I never knew you jogged," he said.
"Well if I am going to be a doctor I must make sure my body is health and fit," she panted looking at him as he smiled.
"Well I am impressed," he said looking at her.
She smiled at him as they walked down the park towards the house.
"I didn't know you jogged," she said.
"Every morning 6am sharp! Bhai used to come but now day since he is busy at the office he does have time for it but he down the gym some evening," he relied.
She looked at her watched and looked at the time.
"I got to get back quick or Massima is going to give me a thrashing over the phone," she said picking up the pace.
"Wait up," he said jogging back with her……….
"We need to talk!" she said firmly walking into his office.
"Ipshita now is not a good time….
"I know you are free this afternoon I have seen your diary," she said angrily.
He looked at her not surprised, as lately she knew where he was before him. He got up from his chair and approached her.
"What do you want to talk about?" he asked leaning against his desk.
"About us?" she replied
"Us? Look Ipshita I though we agreed to give each other some space," he said sighing. Woman you tell them one thing and they always come back with we need to talk he though as she looked at her.
"No that was all your idea? Look if you are not interested them tell me the truth because I don't want to waste the next few year waiting for you," she said tearfully.
"Thanks Ipshita! I knew you would understand," he said walking back over towards his chair.
"We can still see each other as friends right!" he asked picking up the phone.
She stared at him not believing what had just happened and turned around and headed for the door.
"Hi Kaajal….how's dinner sound….cool I will pick up at 6…see you then. She closed the door behind her in tears……
"Ipshita…please tell me what happened?" Gauri asked as they sat in the caf.
"It's over. He said he wanted some space," she sobbed.
Gauri took hold of her hand and looked at her as she sobbed and handed her a tissue.
"Look may be….
"No Gauri I don't ever want to see him again. He had the nerve to say we will see each other as friends," she said wiping her tear.
"I'm not coming to Mumbai anymore he was the only reason I came here," she said looking at Gauri.
"May be we need to approach the whole thing differently. You waited all this time for him and now you're giving up," she said shaking her head.
"Ipshita there were times when I wanted to give up too. Be determined and get him back." Ipshita looked over at Gauri.
Gauri thought about what she had said to Ipshita about approaching the matter differently. It was now coming up to a year since they had been married and all she had received was the title and responsibilities of a wife. Shiv was carrying out the same duties but this was no way they were able to spend the rest of their lives together like this something had to change. As she stared at the final customers leaving the boutique she started packing up for the day….
