The fact that Anupamaa was expected to coddle Anuj's feelings when her child had just died is incomprehensible. Some discourse around Anupamaa's obsession with Shahs pivots to NRI-god-gift married someone like her, why did she not worship him 24/7? Anything else is just emotional neglect.
Anupamaa is just expected to not care for her kids and grandkids (because Shah genes? Because they are terrible?) rather it is expected that she actively shuns her kids from the previous marriage to prove some loyalty to god-gift suave pati is inconsiderate to her as a human being.
Adhya, a kid, was manipulated by Kapadias (while characters like MD were lauded for showing Upmaa the mirror).
Adhya had behavioural issues even back then with the bullying and fatshaming. These complexes have been aggravated by Anupamaa's leaving.
But they are also there because Anuj is not a responsible or good parent. Like here is a literal child trying to manipulate her parent's love life and nobody sees it as a parental failure or inappropriate.It is gobsmacking. But rather it is being made to sound as if that too is Anupamaa's fault
How deep is Anuj's obsession with his failed marriage that his kid is actively, callously trying to get him married to her mother-figure? Teenagers should only have to worry about their high school crushes, and grades, and proms, and sports. How are people finding ways to defend him when these callous patterns of behaviour might stick with her in adulthood if not corrected?
What else's, he's catfishing Shruti to do heavylifting of parenting while he obsesses over his ex. And even the kid knows that.
Anupamaa is an abuser and an enabler. She also is not good mother. She also has massive internalised misogyny and reduces womanhood to motherhood, but she is not responsible for Anuj's piss poor behaviour.
