If it's a requirement, and someone is born without it, doesn't that put them at a disadvantage? Much like how being a star kid is a privilege, and those not born into a film family lack that privilege.

A job requirement is a requirement. It's not privilege to have it. If you're a Math professor, you're required to be good at Math. Not a privilege.

Nepo is privilege. Nothing else.

I think that’s a rather simplistic way of looking at this. Pretty actresses have either had massive success or they’ve had nothing to do with the failure of the movie as in their name didn’t affect the movie at all.

Madhuri Dixit was very successful in the 90s. Yes she had her fair share of flops but she also had her fair share of blockbusters, just like the Khans and Ajay and Akshay. Katrina may not be a great actress but she reached great heights due to her sex appeal and ability to dance and sell the item songs. Can you imagine someone else doing Sheila Ki Jawaani or Chickni Chameli? Priyanka is very talented and was always recognized for her talent. Aishwarya also has had massive success with SLB and her iconic dances. All of these ladies have contributed to their movies and to Bollywood. Pooja Hegde might be the exception here but has she done anything more than just flowerpot roles? Why blame her for anything when all she’s being utilized for is her looks and her ability to dance? If her movies have failed it’s on the maker or the lead hero.

You always seem to overlook the main gist of my posts, lol. I mean, there's no denying their achievements, or lack thereof. I'm a fan of most of them myself, and if you look like Aishwarya or Madhuri, you could walk all over me a thousand times.

But the real point here is their inherent privilege of being exceptionally good-looking, which is what kickstarted their Bollywood careers. The argument you've put up holds up well, but it can be applied to many star kids. (The likes of Rani, Kajol, Kareena, Hrithik etc) Nonetheless, we're specifically discussing the privilege that paved the way for their film debuts.

However , to become a math professor, you need to put in the effort, study for years, and meet the requirements for the job.

On the other hand, you don't have to put in any work to be beautiful. It's something you're born with, much like being born into a film family. No effort required; it's just part of your birthright.

Except no one comes into this world with natural athletic ability or dancing skills, haha. You've got to put in the work to develop these abilities.

It is still a job requirement for movies no matter how you acquired it.

And no matter how badly nepos would like to shift the convo.smiley36

Not a privilege.

Nepo is a privilege, not a job requirement

A beautiful face today will not get noticed in front of these well groomed nepo girls. A nepo girl gets styled by the who's and who's of the industry be it clothes, make up, hair etc . That grooming is a HUGE advantage.

Well, acc to OP's logic, the grooming and the plastic surgery would qualify as work done to look good. Not privilege. smiley36

The way you acquire it does matter actually. If you didn't exert any effort and were simply born with it, that's a form of privilege.

Certainly, there's no doubt that nepotism is a form of privilege. And with the new cosmetic procedures and grooming techniques, it's actually much bigger. By discussing pretty privilege, I'm not negating the existence of nepotism privilege.

Sure, some people are born with extraordinary skills though. Top athletes are, that's why others who train the same amount can't match up with them
