Kajol and Manisha Koirala were the original choices for Veer Zaara

Kajol as zara would have been 👎🏼

I completely forgot about the lawyer character and thought Kajol and Manisha were supposed to play Veer-Zara respectively. Now that would have been interesting.

Forget any actress. I believe SRK should've played both Veer and Zaara.

Zaara was written for Aishwarya. Lawyer Samiya was written for Nadia Jamal. 

Zaara was supposed to be a traditional desi woman who was very beautiful Muslim girl. 

How on earth someone can think of Preity Zinta as a traditional classic beauty? It was Aishwarya who was cast as Zaara but due to SRK not ready to play opposite her YC was forced to replace her with Preity because Preity had Kal Ho Naa Ho just last year and was a fav among SRK camp after Rani.

Kajol was very choosy. Aditya Chopra wanted to bring DDLJ couple in Veer Zaara when it was not possible bring Devdas couple. Kajol was busy with family and she also did not like the depth of the role Zaara. She thought the role had nothing special. So she rejected it. She did same with Chalte Chalte. 

After Aishwarya and Kajol, Chopra camp went to Preity upon SRK's recommendation. Yash Chopra then made up the story of taking a challenge to turn Preity from Western to traditional girl. He compromised with his vision due to SRK's refusal to work with Aishwarya.

Yash Chopra then again tried to cast Aishwarya in lawyers role but SRK was hell bent to not working with Ash. So Aditya Chopra suggested his girl friend Rani Mukerji for that role.

Yash Chopra did a 3 film contract agreement with Aishwarya when she did Mohabbatein. She was supposed to do Yash Chopra directorial and another film with them.

Good that they both rejected that film, movie was boring
