Sanjaya’s description of all the wives of Pandavas living together in Hastinapur.

Pandavas visit the hermitage Of Dhritarashtra ,Gandhari And Kunti along with their wives. Then Sanjaya introduces all of them to ashram dwellers in the following manner.

Excerpt

This lady, of eyes as expansive as lotus petals, who seems to have touched the middle age of life, whose complexion resembles that of the blue lotus, and who looks like a goddess of Heaven, is Krishna, the embodied form of the goddess of prosperity.Draupadi was described thus.

1 She who sits besides her, possessed of the complexion of pure gold, who looks like the embodied rays of the moon, in the midst of the other ladies, is, ye foremost of regenerate ones, the sister of that unrivalled hero who wields the discus. This was Subhadra.

This other, as fair as pure gold, is the daughter of the snake-chief and wife of Arjuna. This was Ulupi

This other whose complexion is like that of pure gold or like that of Madhuka flowers, is the princess Chitrangada. This was Chitrangada.

This one, that is possessed of the complexion of an assemblage of blue lotuses, is the sister of that monarch, that lord of hosts, who used to always challenge Krishna. She is the foremost wife of Vrikodara. She was Valandhara,Bhima’s wife.

This is the daughter of the king of Magadha who was known by the name of Jarasandha. Possessed of the complexion of an assemblage of Champakas, she is the wife of the youngest son of Madravati. She was Sahadeva’s wife Vijaya

Possessed of a complexion as darkish as that of the blue lotus, she who sits there on the earth, and whose eyes are as expansive as lotus-petals, is the wife of the eldest son of Madravati, This was Karenumati wife of Nakula.

Only Yudhishtir’s wife Devika was not present there.

In Ashramavasa Parva Sanjaya described Pandavas elaborately.

Yudhishtir

Sanjaya said, 'This one that is as fair of complexion as pure gold, that is endued with a body which looks like that of a full-grown lion, that is possessed of a large aquiline nose, and wide and expansive eyes that are, again,of a coppery hue, is the Kuru king.

Yudhishtir ‘s complexion Fair like pure gold

nose…he got a large prominent nose that was significantly told even by Krishna in Swayamvara Parva.

Eyes..coppery wide eyes.

Lion like body..

Bhima

This one, whose tread resembles that of an infuriate elephant, whose complexion is as fair as that of heated gold, whose frame is of large and expansive proportions and whose arms are long and stout, is Vrikodara

Bhima’s complexion fair like heated gold.

Eyes..lotus eyes..

Built..large with long and stout arms.

Bhima’s personality and gait marks his identity

Arjuna

The mighty bowman who sits besides him, of darkish complexion and youthful frame, who resembles the leader of an elephantine herd, whose shoulders are as high as those of a lion, who walks like a sporting elephant, and whose eyes are as expansive as the petals of a lotus, is the hero called Arjuna

Complexion Dark…unique

Eyes.. like lotus petals

Significant ..his curly hair..even in war Parvas his hair was described..Syamo Yuva gudakesho darsaniyo Maharathas.

Arjuna was tall, dark, handsome with curly hair..

His youthful ness…youthful frame even after crossing middle age..

Shoulders..mighty,strong shoulders with bow marks

Nakul and Sahdev

The twins of Aswini gods were naturally good looking. Nakula was famous for his beauty..Nakula was dark while Sahadeva was fair.

This is the daughter of the king of Magadha who was known by the name of Jarasandha. Possessed of the complexion of an assemblage of Champakas, she is the wife of the youngest son of Madravati. She was Sahadeva’s wife Vijaya

This Jarasandh's daughter and Magadha princess (name not given)  is Sahadev's 3rd wife. Married to him after Bhima killed Jarasandh. Before that his second wife afteR Draupadi was his cousin from Madra named Vijaya. She was Shalya's niece born to his brother Dyutimat. Sahadev had one more wife not mentioned here,  his fourth name Bhanumati Krishna's daughter Bhanumati rescued by Arjuna from kidnapping by Nikumbha.

Devika, Vijaya and Valandhara were married around the period of Arjun's exile and all lived in Indraprasth with Draupadi before Subhadra arrived. Devika most likely died in childbirth.  Just before Rajasuya Bhima married Shishupal's sister and Nakul married Shishupal's daughter and Sahadev married Jarasandh's daughter. They also promptly arrived and lived in Indraprasth. Sahadev married Bhanumati also after this.

So please note all pandavas wives lived in IP,  some came before subhadra some after her. And Draupadi had no problems with anyone.

Exception Ulupi (one night stand)  Chitrangada (restricted by her father)  but these two came in end after the war. And Hidimbi (who never came)

Arjun also married again after Khadavdahn Vasuki's sister, her name is given in southern folklore as Arakki/Bhogavati after the city she came from. She is mentioned in one sentence by Yudhishtir during Ashwamedha Parva that Arjun married her after Khandavdahan. She is not to be confused with Ulupi, whose father was Aryaka another naga chief.

After Dyut Sabha these women went back to their maternal kingdom and returned after war. Chitraganda and Ulupi Arjun's wives joined after Ashwamedha

Had u heard ruchiparvan or rochnagarbha ?

Some people claim him second son 2 arjun Subhadra. Some say he was son of arjun with some tribal queen who was  raised by Subhadra.

He was killed by bhagwandatta on 12 day , same day arjun killed bhagwandatta.

Rochanagarbha or Ruchiparvan is Kriti (Arjun's) son that much is given in the epic.

But he is not subhadra's, Subhadra's other name is Chitra not Rochana.

So he could be the son of any of his other wives. Maybe the Naga princess sister of Vasuki.  He had other wives too. Pandya princess also known as chitra. Alli another tribal queen. He could be any of theirs

Is Ruchiparvan mentioned in the epic? I thought epic Gave the account of only three Arjun's son getting killed in the war. Could you share the details about it.

Are you sure Devika married Yudhishtir post Draupadi Swayamwar? If Yudheya was the same as Prativindhya, then Arjun found him in Ekchakranagri. Since Pandavas lived in Ekchakranagri before Draupadi Swayamwar, hence most possibly Devika marriage n Yudheya birth would have happened before Draupadi Swayamwar. They left the child in someone's custody before Swayamwar to fake as unmarried

Is Bhanumati the wife of Nakul Krishna's daughter? This I didn't know. Strage that he married the daughters of Krishna n Shishupal, wonder what Mahabharata would they have done in their house. But when did this marriage happen? Did it happen before DyutSabha? Strange that they mention Subhadra in such detail in Sreemad but not Bhanumati

Lastly want to understand more about Shalya n his brother. Shalya was coming to support Pandavas but was tricked to support Kauravas by Duryodhan right? In this case how is it possible that his brother was also not tricked? Weren't they coming together? And why Duryodhan only tricked Shalya n not his brother. This seems very unusual.

Please respond

Aside I had sent you a PM please check it

Bhanumati is Sahdev's wife not nakul , she is grand daughter  of krishna not daughter, I read she was daughter of satyabhama's son bhanu.

Yes I made a typing mistake.

Bhanumati is Krishna's granddaughter?

Krishna would be like 1-2 years elder to Sahdev, and his granddaughter at least 34 years younger to him..

Matlab if Bhanumati married Sahdev at 16, Sahdev whopping be at least 49 so I guess this happened after the war itself

Didn't know about Bheem's marriage to Krishna's daughter

I am suddenly starting to despise Pandavas. Itni age difference me shaadi
