Shahid Kapoor recently met up with
filmmaker Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra at his
office which sparked rumours of a
collaboration between the two.
According to a leading daily, the meeting
between the actor-director duo involved
doing a movie together.
"Shahid and Rakeysh met and discussed the
idea of doing a movie together. Although
nothing is on paper yet, the actor has
shown a keen interest in Mehra's film on
Kabaddi," a source revealed to the daily.
The source continued, "Today, sports films
have a space of their own and he's never
really tried out this genre. When he heard
Rakeysh is doing a movie on kabaddi, he
approached him to discuss the possibility of
acting in it."
If this meeting is indeed fruitful, Shahid and
Rakeysh could make for a deadly
combination on the silver screen.
Meanwhile, Shahid is currently busy with
Shree Narayan Singh's Batti Gul Meter Chalu.
Shahid will play the role of a lawyer in the
movie. The movie delves into the issue of
highly priced electricity bills which has
become a common problem for the citizens.
As the teaser of the movie released on
Diwali, Singh had said, "The subject of the
film is very relevant to our times. Diwali
makes it just the right occasion for us to
shed light on a subject that needs to be
discussed. We look forward to making a film
that is both commercially entertaining and
encourages a social conversation."
Batti Gul Meter Chalu is slated to release
on August 31, 2018.
On the other hand, Rakeysh is busy with
Fanne Khan which is being directed by Atul
Manjrekar and stars Anil Kapoor, Aishwarya
Rai Bachchan, Rajkummar Rao and Divya
Dutta.
Fanne Khan is slated for a June 2018 release.
