Just as i said, you will never see HW media comparing TC with any of the BW stars whereas BW media finds is proud to compare Shah with TC, every other media does that, TC is the reference of the entire system of movie stardom as some one said above, he is never compared with others but others are compared and judged on basis of the achievements and legacy of TC and later such arguments pop up as who is bigger . As heisenberg said in India when a TC film will release, most of the audience will be Indians and not white Americans ( movie stardom ) , in North america when a Shah film gets released , most of the audience will be Indians or south Asians and not white Americans ( stardom but restricted to favoritism here ).

About Fareed zakaria , why is it silly ? An indian born by default will glorify an inidan right ? I am not saying that is the only reason why FZ named Shah as biggest movie star, but FZ has never interviewed big HW stars so, him calling a BW star as the biggest does not make anything of that sort as a point to even claim that Shah is at the levels of TC .

No one is denying SRK being popular in the parts where BW is known, but he has more female fans then male.

So no way does this make SRK bigger star in the world. Yes an actor will always be known by Box office also what type of roles he does will be remembered, because that's his/hers job description.

I do not understand why some fans dismiss Box office record when it convinient.

The title should be more on business rather then being a star, face it an actor will always be knows for how much money his/her movie makes or the kind of roles he plays.

Like for a businessman how much money he/she makes by selling their products.

In Bangladesh hindi films are not released, and whoever watches Bollywood , i have seen salman khan has a bigger fandom in bangladesh, otherwise SRK too is very popular but nobody really thinks he is as big as Tom Cruise .

And as i was brought up in dubai and then saudi arabia , i can speak for that place, TC is by miles a more popular name over there . he became more popular among Dubai audience after his Burj stunt , in Saudi there are no theaters and not source of bollywood channels, all we had in TV was some Hollywood channels and some local arabic channels, and therefore our childhood was more or less like spend watching Cruise, Depp , Leo ..

Edge of Tomorrow was fabulous, legit one of the best scifi films in the last 10 years. do watch MI;5 , best Mission Impossible film till date .😃

and yes being dismissive of Box office when comparing Movie stars is being ignorant .

An actor will be known for his performances, but a movie star will be known for both his films, performances and also the kind of box office aura he has, this is the only reason TC beats most of the big stars in HW itself or is the pole with which everything collides and survives. he is a survivor, because so much happened with that couch jump and he still has the same box office draw , a true movie star .

The last TC film i have watched in Edge of tomorrow and the last Shah film i have watched in My name is khan, so this is what it is, Shah does not guarantee a good film all the time, TC does , i did not watch MI:5 because i try to avoid MI films, the last MI i watched was MI:III .

i read the article which you had given above, it is really a good one, the below parts are actually so much true . i think what makes TC stand out is that he still does what he would do back in 90s and has not given his style up to the likes and acceptance of this generation.

TC has solid fan base because they known when it comes to movies they will not be disappointed. As long TC keeps on entertaining me or giving me good movies to watch will be his fan.

TC is is 1st actor whom I became a fan off and other is Leonardo di Caprio, I love the choices they have made when it comes to choosing roles.
