I saw his new pics where he was training for a helicopter ride in Black Tee with White sneakers n blue jeans with wayfarers. 😆

one movie and they gave him the holiday 😆 . So i assume the last samurai was a big hit and set some trends .

I feel bad for Will Smith though, he has played it very foolish IMO, he was one of the big superstars and should have been a bit more conscious, yes he is not as big as TC but he still was one of those few examples of black Americans who were given the movie star tag . the latest oscar boycott and several box office flops have led him to an unstable position, i hope he regains his supremacy back .

whom did you see training for helicopter ? TC or WS ?

this pretty much sums up whatever i meant to say. Thanks for solving out the general idea of who is bigger in Pakistan, i assume you are a Pakistani .

and yes being dismissive of Box office when comparing Movie stars is being ignorant .

An actor will be known for his performances, but a movie star will be known for both his films, performances and also the kind of box office aura he has, this is the only reason TC beats most of the big stars in HW itself or is the pole with which everything collides and survives. he is a survivor, because so much happened with that couch jump and he still has the same box office draw , a true movie star .

The last TC film i have watched in Edge of tomorrow and the last Shah film i have watched in My name is khan, so this is what it is, Shah does not guarantee a good film all the time, TC does , i did not watch MI:5 because i try to avoid MI films, the last MI i watched was MI:III .

I think most people do not care about a stars cum actors personal life or go into detail.

TC has solid fan base because they known when it comes to movies they will not be disappointed. As long TC keeps on entertaining me or giving me good movies to watch will be his fan.

TC is is 1st actor whom I became a fan off and other is Leonardo di Caprio, I love the choices they have made when it comes to choosing roles.

yes its stupid to decide for movies by scrutinizing actors's personal lives . they are stars and they are victims of their stardom too. I feel more than a solid fan base, TC has developed a solid trust among studios, the studios surely trust his name to give him big films, say a Jack reacher, which is not so much like a TC character in the novels but he sold the film with profits.

Leo is one of those actors who does movies because he loves acting, a sheer brilliance he is onscreen, i love Leo and have watched most of his films, i like that he does not run after box office much , he has set his own niche. TC on the other hand has his own niche too, he makes movies to entertain people, and he succeeds too, and what ices his hard work is that he is extremely good at acting even at some repulsive roles, for example Magnolia , he was such an ass but TC nailed it.

Yes TC is a rare breed of star cum good actor, he was terrific as Lestat in "Interview with the vampire".

TC & Leo are only one which I have seen almost all of their movies and wait for them to come on screen.

yes Brad and TC in one frame , i did not like the movie much because i felt that even though they tried to project Louis as the battered and empathetic vampire, i empathized with Lestate . I cried for Louis when Claudia died but they deserved it for betraying Lestate and actually killing Lestate. The homo erotic undertones can be overshadowed but i felt the film still could be better, Brad and TC looked great though and the young Kirsten dunst was an amazing actress. As you said TC was terrific in the entire film, the climax when Lestate attacks Malloy, it was scary and then the cocky and badass Lestate mocking Louis still hiding the fact that he loved Louis in a precious manner, TC was a complete revelation here. Brad was good too, he got the lesser impact role

HW these days have been running out of ideas, they are more into rebooting and sequels , films like Interview with the vampire , The aviators, magnolia, The prestige are rarely made these days 😒

That's some messed up rationale man! So let me get this straight you are just like the person you quoted clubbing the whole South Asian community together and you are going one step further and claiming how them watching a Shahrukh movie is "favoritism"...bravo on that logic. I don't know if you have heard of the term ":choice" but most people out there watch movies or rather do things in general out of their own desire. I doubt most of these people are going to watch a movie as tribute to their nation or the ethnicity.

Coming to the South Asian community itself, some of you are painting them as some homogeneous group man! 😆 Please understand within India itself, there is a whole lot of diversity so one can imagine how diverse this group is in terms of their language , their cultures , their customs. Despite all those differences they go out to watch a Bollywood star movie , if that ain't international enough, I don't know what is.

When you talk about the audience here as well as there , you do realize that the Indian or the South Asian population living in America is way higher than the Americans living here...right? I don't even get where you are going with that considering anyone who knows a little about cinema here would know a minuscule percentage of the Indian population watches Hollywood. That the percentage who watches Hollywood usually falls in the upper middle class to elite category. The language barrier diminishes when when it comes to that class. Where as the language barrier , besides the format and other things is also a reason why you won't find many Americans out there watching Bollywood. The argument isn't as simplified as some here make it out to be.

As for comparison and you drawing the conclusion that you just did out of a statement that had nothing to do with it...😆. Let me repeat TC ain't the benchmark for stardom. Plenty have become before him and plenty will come after him. I don't subscribe to your perspective or anyone else's that stardom ends and begins with TC.

Good Lord! Of course you'll see an agenda there. How can it be possible that a reputed journalist out there will call it like he sees it...right? It obviously has to do with his ethnicity. This is one of the reasons why I cited some other examples as of hosts who aren't brown yet have talked about his stardom in pretty much the same vein that Fareed did there.

I m also a Bangladeshi..around me, i have seen only 2-3 Salman fans in my whole class which contains 130 students😆 Where 60-65 r SRK fans..
When it comes to SRK...we all become excited. Even in tuitions, there r lots of students of different colleges...but Most of the students r SRK fans..
I have seen a very less Salman fans...actually boys r more Salman fans..
SRK is more popular than Salman here...i will say..Salman isn't even popular. Aamir is more popular than Salman & even Ranbir Kapoor.

About IPL..ok..it's true. Bangladeshi people doesn't like IPL. I watch only KKR's match for SRK.
I don't like Shakib at all. He's gone to dogs. Only plays for money. 😡

objection overruled😆

thats what i just said, usually school girls have a craze for SRK, my own sister likes him too, and mostly boys are salman fans .. your class definitely does not represent the community i stay in, in my circle people like salman more , Aamir is not much popular but his films do get a fan base here .

I watch IPL, i watch for my favorite players, am a huge cricket fan, so does not matter whoever is the franchise owner. Shakib ke je ki korte iccha kore amar , why did he get to play the asia cup is beyond my understanding 😡

well some days ago there was a thread made in this forum where they compared Leo with SRK and the similar things happened in that thread too 😆

coming back to South Asian countries, who cares even if SRK is bigger in south Asia , this is more about being popular in every corner of the world, and hands down TC wins there, there is a survey made on TC's popularity chart , and he is the only star to get the survey done, where there was a mention of every country which had ever seen a movie, TC was found to be most popular in one of the europian countries followed by China , and his popularity was lease in Greece i think ..

i will try finding the survey, if i get it will share it here

eyes wide shut is with Nicole ? i have watched Magnolia and TC was such an ass over there . recently he made an appearance at the BAFTA , and he was with Leo 😃 .

i read the article which you had given above, it is really a good one, the below parts are actually so much true . i think what makes TC stand out is that he still does what he would do back in 90s and has not given his style up to the likes and acceptance of this generation.

where is the TC running ode ? i never knew about it as the article mentions, it must be somewhere ? the forbes article is the one which you have shared here, and again a great analysis .

Tom Cruise is the god of movie stars.

I've never quite understood that, because I'm not the world's biggest Tom Cruise fan. But it's true. After reading what the moviegoing Internet had to offer last week: Tom Cruise is absolutely the god of movie stars.

Here are three recent pieces that will make you want to give Cruise a high-five:

In an age where even Will Smith is admitting defeat and slipping into superhero spandex like everyone else, Cruise is still doing that classic Cruise thing, and he's still undeniably successful at it. Did you know there's a National Tom Cruise Day in Japan? October 10, every year.

yes Eyes wide shut had Nicole , but the film is not a love story . Magnolia, i am yet to watch, have watched scenes only, but i wanted to watch the full movie someday knowing he was nominated for oscar here .

the TC running ode is there in youtube too, i think made by forbes only . but wait click the link and you will get the full article , it is actually a fun read, they are analysing the 50 shades of Tom Cruise cruising ( running ) and with so much of style and attitude 😳.. well let me paste it

just read this, it is 🤣

Cruise not only has the most distinctive gait in Hollywood"the New Yorker's Anthony Lane drolly applauded his 'ability to remain totally upright when sprinting, as if carrying an invisible egg and spoon'"he's got the most omnipresent run, with close-watchers tallying that over 80 percent of his films feature him in a mad dash," Amy Nicholson wrote in her definitive treatise on Cruisology, Anatomy of an Actor: Tom Cruise (Cahiers du cinma, 2014). "He's run across soccer fields, football fields, tropical beaches, and an enchanted forest, toward proms and midterm exams and street fights and helicopters, away from missiles and more missiles and aliens and a detonated aquarium, over snowy hills, through pool halls, subways, small town Main Streets, Greenwich Village, and an abandoned Times Square, in tuxedos and Irish dungarees, and alongside everyone from soldiers to samurais. In Mission: Impossible"Ghost Protocol alone, Cruise runs in a dust storm, he runs in traffic, and he even runs down the side of skyscraper."

No one else runs like Tom Cruise runs.

His hands become blades, slicing the air. His spine snaps rigid, aggressively vertical. His thighs pump with a ferocity unmatched by Olympians and terminators. This is to say nothing of his face: Running takes focus, and when Tom Cruise runs, every millimeter of his face strains with focus. When Tom Cruise runs, the boyish charm the 53-year-old leveraged to become the world's biggest movie star vanishes; so, too, does that grin, that sparkle. Actors can be vain, but there is zero vanity in Tom Cruise when he runs: There is only this moment, only the running, and there is nothing else. Tom Cruise running is as pure an expression of Zen as will ever flicker across a movie screen.

As his best performances"those in Top Gun, Rain Man, A Few Good Men, Jerry Maguire, Minority Report, Magnolia, Collateral, Tropic Thunder, Jack Reacher,Edge of Tomorrow, Going Clear"prove, Tom Cruise does not do anything halfway. Cruise goes all in, with a fearless, relentless ability to entertain. Tom Cruise knows how he looks when he runs. Tom Cruise doesn't care, because if he's going to run, he's going to run.

In recent years much has been made, usually as part of a PR push for Tom Cruise's Mission: Impossible franchise, of how Tom Cruise does many of his own stunts. His super-spy Ethan Hunt certainly does a lot of running in these films, and Tom Cruise certainly does his own running. The series has almost become a showcase for Tom Cruise's running: In Mission: Impossible III, director J.J. Abrams was wise enough to include an extended sequence of Tom Cruise furiously barreling along a crowded Shanghai waterfront; Abrams held shots for what felt like an impossibly long time, and Tom Cruise's pace never slackened. A few years later, Brad Bird's Mission: Impossible"Ghost Protocol somehow managed to find a way to have Tom Cruise run, both horizontally and vertically, along the gleaming windows of the dizzyingly tall Burj Khalifa.

I will say nothing of Tom Cruise's running in Christopher McQuarrie's Mission: Impossible"Rogue Nation, other than to note that the very first time we see Tom Cruise in Rogue Nation, he is running"at which point he leaps onto the wing of a taxiing aircraft, runs up the wing, and manages to cling to the fuselage just in time for the plane to scream into the sky. This is only the first of Rogue Nation's many clever, intense, and largely wordless action sequences, and Tom Cruise does not do it halfway. recommended

salman khan is a big superstar who can be popular than SRK in some countries and that should not be a topic of mockery . I am sure SRK too is more popular than salman in some countries , why take it in a rude manner ? fans arguing with maturity is always welcomed but why are you mocking when somebody is claiming something she has observed or experienced, nobody here has abused SRK to get so defensive.
