Inch by Inch
Love they say grows fonder with distance, and who knows this better than Raman and Ishita. Living with each other under one roof yet so far apart and this emotional distance between them has been a catalyst forcing them to explore themselves and each other.
Today's episode gave us a glimpse of a married couple FALLING in love with each other, love is a journey where the road travelled often matters more than the destination. The confession is coming but what I personally enjoy is this journey where they try to figure out their feelings about love, about their relationship and this new found comfort. Raman has received countless awards but this award is special because this is the 1st time that he wants to share it with his wife. He wants Ishita to hear this news from his own mouth so he eyes can soak in the joy on her face. This is progress! No one told him to share this news with her, he wants to do this on his. After all what is happiness if not shared with loved ones. I would go ahead and argue that Raman probably is happier to share this news with HIS wife than the happiness he felt when he heard the news of receiving the award. He had a million dollar smile that stretched from Delhi to Bombay when he received the apology text from her, compared to the smile wasn't that wide when he heard the news of his nomination.
"Happiness often sneaks in through a door you didn't know you left open." - John Barrymore
Raman didn't know he left the door of love open, but slowly and steadily love made it back to his life in the form of his wife. Inch by inch he is slowly taking strides towards his happiness, which lies in his wife. Who would have thought that the serious Raman kumar Bhalla whose goal was to become the # 1 businessman to show those who questioned him now thinks about his wife and her perceived indifference' towards him while sitting in his office neglecting business.
Raman in today's episode reminded me of the ghazal hoshwala ko khabar from the movie Sarfarosh, especially the following lines:
Hum Labon Se Keh Na Paaye, Unse Haal-E-Dil Kabhi
I could never tell her (from my own lips), The state of my heart
Aur Woh Samjhe Nahin Ye Khamoshi Kya Cheez Hai
And she never understood, What this silence meant!
And today we saw Ishita take major strides towards Raman...inch by inch! She didn't hesitate to tell him about the pregnancy report, she felt bad about not listening to him when he came to talk to her and the most important thing she wants to make it up to him! She wants him to know that she appreciates him and his happiness means the world to her. I think Ishita for the 1st time felt like she is wanted by her husband, that he values her, and he wants her to be a part of his life. Ishita's expression when Romi broke the news and when she composed that sweet message to her husband was so endearing. Her actions and emotions today reminded of this old song and one of my favorites.
Aap ki nazron ne samjha pyaar ke kaabil mujhe
Your eyes have understood me to be deserving of love
Dil ki ae dhadkan thaher jaa, mil gayi manzil mujhe
Stop, oh my heartbeat, I have found my destination
They can read each other's eyes and understand the silence between them, inch by inch they are moving towards each other and I for one am so happy to witness this beautiful journey.
