My dear Sandhya,

Unsurprisingly, I agree with you in toto. Thanks a lot, my dear.

As for RTP, do see one of my responses above, to Pallavi, I think, the one which seems to have made Alakh go🤣

Aunty,

Pleasure reading you again.
I too am loving the last two episodes. OUR Jalal is back with a bang. I was sick of the saint version learning basic lessons from the know-all Jodha Begum. Thanks to Jodha for shoving the saint to the ground and getting the real man on foot. (Only hope that he doesn't reconvert once the MU is cleared.) Rajat's sneers and sniggers are a treat to watch. Typical M&B.
The Benazir factor that I thought would add only garam masala to the show, seems to add a new flavour altogether. She is mysterious so far. Her falling for Jalal may turn out to be for his welfare or hinderance. She may do him good like the gold-hearted tawaifs or may join hands with MA to get the power and influence on the man she has been sent to conquer or fallen for herself . If it is the former, we will have our Jodha win as usual without working for it and others doing the job for her. If it is the latter we are in for more interesting twists and emotions-display in the show.
Coming to Jodha's anger, she was a fuming steam engine and fun to watch. And for the first time in the show she gave us comic relief. She was appalled at the loss of her coveted position with Jalal and at the court, and till the other day we were blaming Ruqaiya for her love for audha. Jodha herself blamed her 'mahathvakansha' as a negative factor. You are so right aunty, - "see how the paragon is descending to good old fashioned jealousy! "
Idealism is a thin veneer which the likes of Jodha are proud to possess, but beneath which she varies with Ruqaiya, as you rightly said, only in degrees, not in essence.
But she deserves this rude awakening. Having been pampered at Amer and more at Agra by Jalal, she has to realise where her lofty ideals stand without the protective charms and solid support of someone who stands firm on the ground. But I'm still not convinced that she will have the perceptiveness to realise the truth. She doesn't have half the sensitivity that Sukanya, brought up in the same cossetted atmosphere has. We can only call it manufacturing defect.
As to the other barely bearable mahaan of the show, Mr.RTP, wonder why he calls Jalal's gift an insult. How else were kings supposed to reward kalaakars and fankaars? Was he to send him away with nothing but a 'tata, goodbye, hope to see you soon' ? Why are the makers bent on raising Jodha's mahaanta at Jalal's expense?
Also, I didn't understand why Tansen was shok-prakat-karo for Jodha. She was in the lap of luxury and authority with full freedom of thought, expression, faith, belief and worship. Moreover, she didn't look even slightly sad in the temple. I think it is mandatory for the serial heroines to be pitied and praised just because they are heroines.

For most, the male protagonist - the poor hero - is always wrong and needs to be reformed by the holier than thou heroin - Meri Bharatiya Naari Mahan - All in the name of feminism!!!

I am extremely srry if I am offending ppl here- But I too happen to be woman - a total feminist - but I do think that I am capable of seeing the flaws of women and the good points of men and do not feel that all men need to be reformed - Hell if some half baked woman ever tells me my son needed reforming I would be insulted that I did not raise him right!!! (whenever that happens that is😉😆)

I really wish we could all rise above this Man - Woman - gender issue and look at ppl as individuals - That is the only way we will ever be able to get out of the Gender rut that we have got ourselves into.

For me - Both TE and his Ameri Mirchi are 2 individuals - and the one who is giving me maximum delight as of now is TE - I am waiting to be delighted by his Ameri Mirchi still.

As for love - I will quote one of my favorites, Paulo Coelho here - The strongest love is the love that can demonstrate its fragility - and we all knw where this fits currently!!!

what wisdom filled thoughts. the premise of this show is a woman reforms a man, it besides the point that he developed on his own without any influence from his woman. but no for so many reasons that i can't understand we can't leave things as it is, CVs have to shove this idea down our throats that he needs to be rescued. it is the class line in tamil behind the success of every man lies the hand of a woman.

My dear Vinita,

I am glad you like my posts, and even more so that you finally decided to tell me so!😉

Jokes apart, more than not being fond of Jodha's character here, I am very disappointed in her. To explain why, I would request you to take a look at my somewhat overlong response on page 10 above to PadBear.Read it dispassionately, and see if you agree with me even a little bit.

Hi!

I always look forward to reading ur posts as I find them witty n informative. Thank u for doing such a great job at putting in such nice words what most of us think of when we see the serial. However, I do get the feeling that u r not too fond of jodha's character in the serial. I not likdo agree that she is shown as a too good to be true character but at the same time has her flaws. But what I feel is that since she is shown as a simple n least complicated character they had to make concessions somewhere. That's why she says what she feels in her heart n doesn't mince words. She is honest to a fault whether when it came to declaring her ghrina for the emperor or her friendship. But then I happen to be biased towards jodha so...

Thank you, my dear.

My dear, it is not just that he trusts MA, but also that in the first part of that scene, Jodha gives a definite impression, without meaning to do so, of leading him on. See my post Heartbreak ++. That is what makes it seem so insulting to him, especially since he bares his soul to her, so to speak, and strips himself emotionally as never before..

As for RTP, do see my response to Pallavi on page 10 above. You will enjoy it!

I was impressed with Benazir too..she's street-smart and has seen a lot of people and reads them well, it hardly took her any time to see Jalal's fixation with his dearest Jo begum!
As for Jalal and Jo I feel both are victims of the situation..it was crazy of Jo to listen to MA as it was for Jalal to blindly trust MA and not give Jo a benefit of doubt..
So now it's mission Jalal hurts Jo to get back...and Jo standing and watching without walking off, well that's what's going to get her angry and jealous😆
Somehow, this RT Pandey irritates me..I find him all pompous and rude

My dear I am of the category who believes that behind every successful woman is definitely a man. Love Bette Midler's song 'Wind beneath my wings'. Very apt!!!

And take the example of our Jodha here - Had she married another Rajvanshi - as she was supposed to - she would never have got an opportunity to handle trade and international commerce which she did thanks to Akbar.
Akbar was the quintessential liberalist thinker who - and though it looks like 'he allowed' but in fact it is not - did not believe in curtailing the most basic human right - the rt to individual choice - sounds familiar - this is the most basic premise spoken about by Shiva, Krishna and Devi - All have the rt. to choose for themselves - the premise on which the Indian Constitution is also based.

My dear Mandy.

You have put into words, far better than I could have, exactly what the problem is here, the Great Generation Gap! Well, I am happy and content to belong to our jurassic generation, aren't you?

As for that gift to Tansen part, do take a look at my response on page 10 above to Pallavi. You will enjoy it.

Oh dear, I was in stitches over the reference to Silk and Disco Shanti, which are spot on!

Of course Jalal is not romancing her except when Jodha is around; the minute she leaves, he detaches himself as fast as he can, and the KT (khaas tohfa) spots that at once!

I too did not approve of all that being done in the open court, as I have noted in this post, but I have also tried to explain why he might have behaved the way he did. Anyhow, as adiana has pointed out, why on earth does Jodha stand up when the next in seniority is Salima?

I agree with you about Ruqaiya. As for RTP, do see my response to Pallavi on page 10 above. It will amuse you.

Interesting take..😛 I am just amused by the last two episodes..not really sure wh.y.. I am finding this Benzir babe really funny..😆 She reminds me of Silk Smitha/Disco Shanti of South films..Really these men, they looked like they had diarrhea when they saw her..And Jalal is so terrible at romancing her😆

At this point, I am only keen to see how the MU gets sorted, now that the letter is torn.i really want for it to happen for two reasons-a)Jalal will feel less of an ass for having entered her room..Atleast he will know he wasn't invited and then humiliated..This must be so hard on him, as he believes it to be true.
B)Though Madame J needs a royal reality check from Jalal, I don't apprecaite public humiliation..Why she stood up,only Cvs know but asking her to leave is not gracious at all. Besides,I really thought she was suprisingly very warm and tried to reach out to Jalal that night. That it backfired is really not her fault here.
As for Ruq, I don't see why she should get involved. And I Am glad she is not going all gaga abt her new found friendship with Jo. Friendships need time to evolve and I don't think there should be a bonhomie this soon and only becoz Jo saved herr marriage or whatever. But yes, if she does get to know of any foul play, she should open her mouth and I think she would irrespective of kanha ka dhaaga..Atleast that's what I think of her. But since they've been focussing on her and maham convo, I wonder if she does have some plan...It's time these two used their heads without any intervention.

And err...weren't court musicians rewarded in those days. So why So much ado about getting money and rewards. To-be Tansen could've just declined , but why insult the gift giver.Gosh he is the male Jodha.. Jalal must be So stressed!!

Oh I love your post, Adi!! ❤️

And this is why Akbar has always fascinated me!! He was a man, far, far & FAR beyond his Time. A real Progressive, if you may.

As for the serial, the title, the less said the better. 😡

It should be, Jhalli hain Jodha ka naam, kaise banaegaa Jalal, usse kaabil insaan!!

I am astonished that you could survive wading thru 30 of my posts, for I am sure I could not!😉I am truly flattered.

No, Jodha does not know that Jalal cannot read and write. It would not occur to her, since all her brothers and she herself can do so fluently. If she did know that, this track could not get off the ground at all. Ruqaiya, Mahaam etc. of course know it.

As for Jalal asking Mahaam to read it, it is because he does not expect it to contain anything of a private nature, only the kind of stuff that is there in the first part. He has no reason to expect anything else.

So when she comes to the part she cooks up - and notice that she is very careful to avoid the use of any Urdu words, she says prem,. for example, not pyaar - he goes suddenly still, for he cannot really believe it.

It he had not been so desperate to hear that kind of confession from Jodha, he would have smelt a rat, for which 16th century young woman would extend such an invitation, even if it was to her own husband?

And when she seems to refer to it again later in the garden, it is even more fishy. Than again, when he asks her in her rooms why she did not come and tell him that face to face, her response that she could not summon up the courage to do it was terminally misleading, It was also plain nuts, for where was the need to have courage to issue what sounds like a character certificate from a school teacher?😉

Shyamala Aunty

Aunty,

In the scene after salima reads out Ruqaiya's letter to jalal she specifically tells jodha 'khath padkar hamare aankh bhar aaye' or something like that to which jodha replies 'kitna dukh hua hoga ruqaiya begum ko'. This can only mean that jodha was aware that salima read out Ruqaiya's letter to jalal. Didn't she realize that jalal couldn't read because of which a third person was called to read out a wife's letter to a husband. Then why send him a letter herself? Or what other reason would make sense for salima having been summoned to read out a private letter.

This is also curious like the origins of the mysterious vachan.
