This can only mean that jodha was aware that salima read out Ruqaiya's letter to jalal. Didn't she realize that jalal couldn't read because of which a third person was called to read out a wife's letter to a husband. Then why send him a letter herself? Or what other reason would make sense for salima having been summoned to read out a private letter.

This is also curious like the origins of the mysterious vachan.

Expecting Logic from the likes of Jodha (esp anywhere near, where Jalal is concerned) is like expecting a baby, to feed itself!

A pointless exercise, which only results in a tonne of mess with NO PROGRESS!

True why send a letter to a near by room...but u cant blame jodha as there was nothing husband wifely in that letter...it looked more like a letter from a rani to shenshah not from a wife to her husband...only thing worth reading in that letter was jodha saying "apki rani jodha".

Wowowow!!
What splendid comments in last 3-4 pages. I can only say I agree wholeheartedly.👏

Benazir or no benazir I can only say I'm fast losing interest in this show. This is not a story of equals anymore. I'm tired of 'reforming' man who doesnt needs no reforming.

I agree with the many who have pointed out here that Jodha misses the attention and flattery that Jalal bestowed upon her, there is no love lost here. But kya pata, the CVs suddenly made Jalal fall irrevocably in love with her, Jodha might claim the same and we have to swallow it.

Aunty your analysis, your entire post is spot on! Just perfect!

For me the way this Jodha is developed she is in love far more with herself than with anyone else. She puts herself on a high pedestal that we have to crane our necks to see, then on the next pedestal is all the other Rajvanshis, then maybe someone from the Mughal empire and then Jalal. Now how can any love story between the two still be epic? I keep wondering what exactly it is that Jalal sees in her.

Compare this with the Jodha from the movie. When she places her conditions, when she says no coochie coochie, Jalal then hasnt seen her. He doesnt see her till the man mohana song, and by then her being beautiful is an icing on the cake. He is already impressed by her courage. There is no hunar schmunar basket. And she responds appropriately when he tries to woo her. When she points out something to him, its extremely subtle. Its more like I can tell you what I think, but you do as you see fit. There is no mocking, no talking to him like he is a lesser being.

Here we get a heroine for whom pretty much everything falls into her lap.Even if we accept all that, she sashays around like everything is owed to her, like its her birthright. Then why not accept you too are vain? Vanity comes in many forms, not just love for bling bling.

Her conditions, her rejections everything is overlooked because we have an emperor who is already enamored with her. Not because of her courage or her foresight. We have the three musketeers who are already in love with her without her having to lift a finger. She can nearly have him killed and HB will say thanks for saving him * head desk*
If she really was so honest, she would have thought hundred times before asking Jalal to hand over that fort for which so many soldiers lost their lives. A fort that Jalal himself admitted was very special to him. Esp since Jalal said he will find another groom. But when it comes to Ruqaiya's marriage then Ruqs has to think of Tasneem. Her sister's marriage is sacred, her family's pride is worthy of a fort and the battle that was fought to win it, but to hell with the others. Neither is the Mughal pride, Humayun's promise, nor sacred marriage vows worth anything. If Ruqs hadnt yelled at her, she would have brushed off any guilt by saying it was all for a noble cause.

If she really was honest, she would have been embarrassed to death when Jalal corrected himself and said her gift is the best and called her to sit with him. Then she thought nothing of usurping Ruqaiya.

If she was honest she would have admitted to someone why she really saved that marriage. Even BB admits why she does what she does, but not Jodha. She loves to bask in praise, honesty be damned. She is not vain you say??

She doesnt have the courage to swallow her pride and lash out at Jalal, but she lashes out at Benazir.

The last time I liked Jodha was the MC track. Since then , I feel stuffy when I see her. And this new track. I'm glad to see her follies exposed. Makes her real. Maybe she will learn something, question the dark feelings arising in her but I hope for too much.

Anyway, my mad jumble of thoughts. I will get off the soap box :)

Wish there was a 'like very much' button too.
Agree with you word to word, thought to thought on everything above, especially the ones in pink.
The Jodha Begum, as portrayed in the the serial, is one big bundle of vanity, self-righteousness, impertinence, insolence and smugness that any man, (let alone an emperor who has the world under his feet) would like to stay as far away as possible. Ever since the Meena Bazaar and especially after the tiger attack, I've never been able to relate with her character.
You can admire flawed characters in fiction and screen, but not if they are proud of their shortcomings or if they are glorified for their flaws too. You can relate to Scarlett O'Hara with all her imperfections and limitations that detour to the domains of what by normal standards is beneath morality norms. But not this Jodha Begum.
And what was there to reform in Jalal? Even before he married this piece of perfection(!), he was fair minded, he respected loyalty, was forgiving to the king who saved his father, was people loving and reprimanded AK in Malwa. After his Khan Baba was out of the picture, nothing remained to reform much. All that was needed was some fine-tuning and how was that possible with this Jodha Begum who is so much out of tune herself.
I too have never been able to understand why Jalal is so smitten by her and why he tolerates all her offensive behaviour as though he had sinned her to such an extent that he had to feel such remorse to sleep in peace. What has she done do reach the high perch that she has been placed in, except speak, cry, speak, lecture to Jalal, speak, grina Jalal, speak, pray to her Kanhaa, speak, misunderstand Jalal, speak, insult Jalal, speak and speak?
I had written on the other thread that if Jodha saw only lust in Jalal's eyes on the night he confessed his feelings to her, she needs an optician and a psychiatrist. Just the same, if Jalal can see only goodness and hunars and virtues and nobility in Jodha always (even when she is volleying insults at him), he also needs consultation with the aforesaid specialists.
And the recent tracks, lesser said the better. Like the ratri vyatit vachan that everyone eventually accepted to be the absolute truth, now the place to Jalal's left in the court is also acknowledged by one and all as Jodha's undisputable right. While every one in Agra is so sensitive to Jodha's rights and Jodha's feelings why does no-one give a thought about Jalal's rights and Jalal's feelings(including himself)?
Anyway, all the tracks and all the characters are getting crankier day by day. The only reasons I continue watching the show is that I admire Rajat's performance very much and am hooked to Shyamala Aunty's posts, that are a pleasure to read.

Sandhya and Ariel you two bring up a valid point. I am confused at when was she officially declared a khaas begum to sit in court. I mean during the tasneem case Jalal never stated that this count of three is official it was more that he wanted to hear their opinions on this matter because they each had a vested interest. Ruq is still begum-e-khaas official none of other begums have been officially declared khaas. And was it just my imagination did Jodha looked a bit put off when Ruq was called first. Hmmm this one assumes too much. I concur with your analysis of Jodha in the movie she was a lovely character, imagine a character like that against our fiery Jalal (Akbar in the movie was too goody goody) now that would have been epic.

😆 she did,

It's all Jalal's fault. He praised her ( too many & largely, non-existent hunars) to the SKIES. That now she expects to be kotoed to by every single person! 😆

And I find it funny. Why does everyone accept that Jodha will be above Saleema in position? She was married earlier, is closer to him in relation & is older to Jodha!! on the show , she wasn't in reality)

Wasn't that what we were expecting during the early episodes?
But booo...booo... all that we have got is this Jodha Begum - Hunar-ki-mallika, bhaashan-ka-khaan, sa-hridayata-ka-prateek, mahaanta-ki-misaal, maanavta-ki-umadthi-sroth. So what if she is jealous of Ben. That is out of unlimited but unknown love for Jalal. Only if Ruqaiya is jealous of Jo, it is because she is a power-seeker and not really interested in Jalal.
If we have to watch the show, we have to learn to swallow this mirchi who is getting more and more rancid day by day and we have to gulp in the insipid tracks as well. But if we do, we may well be rewarded with some fantastic scenes adorned with superlative performances atleast once a week.
P.S:The angel in green nightgown that we saw a couple of days ago for the first few minutes, on retrospect seems to be just an illusion created to mislead Jalal.
P.S: Jalal's icy fury is already melting after seeing Jodha in the angoor garden.. No hopes of ever seeing a sher shahenshah again. This guy is a becchara, ishq ka maara, akal, guroor, wajood sab kuch haara!!!😭😭😭

That is technically correct, Sandhya, as far as logic goes.

But the fact about the letter having been read out by her was not mentioned by Salima. Nor would that aspect have registered with Jodha at all, or else she would have asked Salima about it, as it would have struck her as unusual. But it does not, and she moves off to her main concern, the extent of Ruqaiya's sufferings, and then Ruqaiya arrives and the whole matter is shelved.

So, it would be right to say that Jodha does not know Jalal cannot read. if she had, she would not have written that letter, and even if she had, when this controversy as to what she had written arose, she would have understood what had happened, and raised that with Jalal.

So this one is not really a conundrum on par with the mysterious vachan.

This can only mean that jodha was aware that salima read out Ruqaiya's letter to jalal. Or what other reason would make sense for salima having been summoned to read out a private letter.

This is also curious like the origins of the mysterious vachan.
