What splendid comments in last 3-4 pages. I can only say I agree wholeheartedly.👏
Benazir or no benazir I can only say I'm fast losing interest in this show. This is not a story of equals anymore. I'm tired of 'reforming' man who doesnt needs no reforming.
I agree with the many who have pointed out here that Jodha misses the attention and flattery that Jalal bestowed upon her, there is no love lost here. But kya pata, the CVs suddenly made Jalal fall irrevocably in love with her, Jodha might claim the same and we have to swallow it.
Aunty your analysis, your entire post is spot on! Just perfect!
For me the way this Jodha is developed she is in love far more with herself than with anyone else. She puts herself on a high pedestal that we have to crane our necks to see, then on the next pedestal is all the other Rajvanshis, then maybe someone from the Mughal empire and then Jalal. Now how can any love story between the two still be epic? I keep wondering what exactly it is that Jalal sees in her.
Compare this with the Jodha from the movie. When she places her conditions, when she says no coochie coochie, Jalal then hasnt seen her. He doesnt see her till the man mohana song, and by then her being beautiful is an icing on the cake. He is already impressed by her courage. There is no hunar schmunar basket. And she responds appropriately when he tries to woo her. When she points out something to him, its extremely subtle. Its more like I can tell you what I think, but you do as you see fit. There is no mocking, no talking to him like he is a lesser being.
Here we get a heroine for whom pretty much everything falls into her lap.Even if we accept all that, she sashays around like everything is owed to her, like its her birthright. Then why not accept you too are vain? Vanity comes in many forms, not just love for bling bling.
Her conditions, her rejections everything is overlooked because we have an emperor who is already enamored with her. Not because of her courage or her foresight. We have the three musketeers who are already in love with her without her having to lift a finger. She can nearly have him killed and HB will say thanks for saving him * head desk*
If she really was so honest, she would have thought hundred times before asking Jalal to hand over that fort for which so many soldiers lost their lives. A fort that Jalal himself admitted was very special to him. Esp since Jalal said he will find another groom. But when it comes to Ruqaiya's marriage then Ruqs has to think of Tasneem. Her sister's marriage is sacred, her family's pride is worthy of a fort and the battle that was fought to win it, but to hell with the others. Neither is the Mughal pride, Humayun's promise, nor sacred marriage vows worth anything. If Ruqs hadnt yelled at her, she would have brushed off any guilt by saying it was all for a noble cause.
If she really was honest, she would have been embarrassed to death when Jalal corrected himself and said her gift is the best and called her to sit with him. Then she thought nothing of usurping Ruqaiya.
If she was honest she would have admitted to someone why she really saved that marriage. Even BB admits why she does what she does, but not Jodha. She loves to bask in praise, honesty be damned. She is not vain you say??
She doesnt have the courage to swallow her pride and lash out at Jalal, but she lashes out at Benazir.
The last time I liked Jodha was the MC track. Since then , I feel stuffy when I see her. And this new track. I'm glad to see her follies exposed. Makes her real. Maybe she will learn something, question the dark feelings arising in her but I hope for too much.
Anyway, my mad jumble of thoughts. I will get off the soap box :)
