Such strong words and so much vehemence... To prove your own point or to simply defend your own favourite serial... 😊
While a lot of what has been written by the various contributors to this topic is arguably correct... There is one very valid point being missed here...
Every perception and attitude is based on a value system unique to a specific people/region/country... So, we can't always compare the western world with India...same as we can't compare the value system in say Afghanistan to India... Each has a set of what is acceptable / not acceptable... And each would be correct in their own way based on their own beliefs and culture...
In India, TV is a very family issue where everyone sits together and watches it... grandparents/parents/kids...we also keep it switched on when guests/neighbours come over... The concept of TV time...go to bed at 9-10 pm... adult viewing time of 10pm...is more of a western concept and not possible in all households due to space/cost constraints... The concept of personal TV's / bedrooms is not in every middle-class household...We don't take our kids/parents to watch adult movies, so why watch it at home with them?????
What kids see on the internet and books and when parents are not there...is part of growing... and part of normal life... That does not mean that parents sit with them and watch any of it... So we know that kids might watch inappropriate stuff when we are not around - But parents don't allow them to watch it in front of them... Parents don't allow such books in their homes... Parents still keep an eye on what their kids are doing...
In the end...it is my understanding that TRP's will fall since most parents will prefer not to watch such programs... as against watch it with/around kids...
This is not an issue of moral policing... this is a very practical and real issue faced by parents/families... Being modern and broad-minded is different from being discretionary...
We all know what happens in a bed room and behind closed doors... we also know that most kids know it... However, to show it on TV... May not be accpetable to many and I think we must respect their argument... There have been many a time recently when I have had to shut off the TV or switch channels since the language was too crude or the songs too uhh...including the film awards etc...
There will always be those who will accept the change as part of life and embrace it by allowing / viewing the movies/songs and even letting their kids gyrate to the raunchy numbers - all with a fond KYA KARE, AAJ KAL KE BACCHE statement... And there will always be those who will switch channels and avoid watching totally and grumble and groan...There is no hypocracy in defending your own beliefs...where your kids well-being is concerned...
In this whole serial...this love-scene seems to be the only thing CLOSE TO REALITY that they have decided to show... rest all is ...
