Discussion of the week-unrealism in Kyunki.

Kyunki.. is India's longest running soap opera. It has been refferd to the desi version of the popular English soap "the bold and the beautiful". But in these six years, Kyunki has also faced a lot of criticism. Many of our favourite characters have miraculously returned from the dead, been in the worst of accident, had plastic surguries, been killed by their own mother and so on. But then we cant deny the fact that KSBKBT is Asia's favourite and most watched show. This week,we will discuss whether the unrealism in Kyunki is justified or not. You can form ur answers keeping the following questions in mind:

**On a scale of one to ten, how unrealistic is Kyunki?

**Is the unrealisim is Kyunki justified?

**Although most of us critisice how unrealistic Ekta is , we still watch Kyunki... isnt that just laughing at our selves?

**Do u think it is foolish on our part to watch her unrealism?

**Out of all the unrealistic events, which one do u find the most unrealistic? WHy?

**Which topic would you like to see next as the discussion of the week --please feel free give ideas/suggestions which u think can help make the discussions more intresting. You can either PM me the answer to this question, or right it down as over here.

Looking forward to ur participation😊

On the scale of one to 10, id give Kyunki an 11 when it comes to unrealism.True, Indian soaps show nothing but ppl scheming, negativity, the most unrealistic situations etc. , but then wen we say all this we must also realise that they are a gr8 way of entertainment. I think my nights would be incomplete unless i get a daily does of my favourite indian soap--KSBKBT.

Also,Indian shows are very long ,when compared to Pakistani soaps at least, they last only around 20 epis....laikan then then are alos much more sensible than the Indian soaps. TAke Kyunki for instance, it has been running for the past 6 years now, how can the storyline be realistic after 1300 episodes?

Personally, i dont criticise Ekta at all, even though her story lines can really irritate me sometimes, but if i laugh at how stupid Ekta is, then in a way im laughing at myself. IF she is stupid in making these programes, we as an audience are stupider to watch it.So i think we should just be our own cheap selves and enjoy KYunki. No matter how senseless indian soaps are, i will always remain hopelessly addicted

**On a scale of one to ten, how unrealistic is Kyunki?
definately a 9.5/10, it is very unrealistic, stuff like this doesn't happen in everyday life, thats why we're all so hooked, cuz its just interesting watching things that don't happen... i left out that .5 to make 10 cuz the family does luv each other, (most of them anyways), like the relationship between ganga/damini or Tulsi/Baa stuff like that is real.. i luv KSBKBT, i nvr watched indian soapz before, but kyunki got me hooked, n i hope it keeps on running for another good 5-6 yearz!!

**Is the unrealisim is Kyunki justified?
umm i really don't get this question😕

**Although most of us critisice how unrealistic Ekta is , we still watch Kyunki... isnt that just laughing at our selves?
Yes it is, yah i gotta admit i do critize Ekta at times.. so i can't say that i don't.. some of her stupid storylines still irrate me, like the meera one going on right now, i hate that stupid story, itz so pointless.. but no matter how stupid a story is i will ALWAYZ watch kyunki!!

**Do u think it is foolish on our part to watch her unrealism?
No i don't think its foolishness at all.. cuz we watch it for entertainment!! but just for a minute say that Ekta created a new show which didn't have any unrealism in it.., it revolves around -- Ganga, Sahil, Lucky,Nakul (i just picked four random characterz) okay so Ganga and Sahil would go to work every morning, Nakul and Lucky would go to school every morning, all would come home in the afternoon, finish some work, eat dinner go to sleep, like every other normal family.. now how intersting would that be??? would any of you watch a show like that??? i doubt anyone would..

**Out of all the unrealistic events, which one do u find the most unrealistic? WHy?
uuuuummmm theres sooo many lolz, one stupid storyline i don't like at the moment is the Meera/Mihir track!!.. likee how does a woman in her twenties, fall in luv wid a guy who is already married, has kids, and even GRAND-KIDZ?? thats just stupidness on Ekta's part!! or the one where Harsh/Ansh got switched at birth, sooo unrealistic is nvr bound to happen in real life, but it was a good story while it lasted

Nice questionz Eisha!!.. i'll look forward for more, srry can't think of any discussions at the moment

There is no doubt that unrealism dominates in all of Ekta's serial. I just watch this serial for fun and some entertainment... however... there are many members that are obsessed with it and it can be destructive for many.

Unrealism Points

  1. Tanya is pregnant for more than 1 year! This is the worst case scenario and is completely wrong
  2. Payal disappearing when major things happend in regards to Shobha. Where was she? She just went away and Shobha just left....
  3. Meera and Mandira... this new topic where the two evil lovers of an old man come and start to discuss how to steal other men is just stupid and repetitive.... can there be something new

I think that there should be new spice to the serial and Ba should be killed off along with Savita and Gayatri.. not because I don't like them because they are very very old... like 90 something and are not showing age... Gayatri wears sarees as if she just got married and her hair is as black as coal... even hair dyes are not soo powerful.....

this entire serial is so corrupted and messed up that I think it needs to be fixed up and get reprimanded

"All Characters, Places and Events depicted
in this serial are purely fictitious and any
resemblance to any person living or
dead ; location or events is
purely co-incidental"

Kyunki is partly unrealistic (5/10) in my opinion. I agree that there are many insensate plots, however a major part of it consists of some realistic ones too.

Unrealism is incorporated into serials for the purpose of entertainment and to ensure continuity.

The disclaimer quoted above shown before each episode states that the show is fictional. Now, why do we still need to expect completely realistic situations?

As long as the show does not bore the hell out of us and we are enjoying the drama and ofcourse our favourite actors, I say it is justified.

As loyal viewers of Ekta's serials, we have a right to criticize her if she goes overboard over her senseless storylines. Therefore, I think we are not really "laughing at ourselves" nor are we foolish.

**On a scale of one to ten, how unrealistic is Kyunki?
I would give it a scale of 7 /10
**Is the unrealisim is Kyunki justified?
To some extent yes. To a large extent the viewers would want to see something different in the reels. Mihir returning from the dead on popular demand is fine, but some other things are not
**Although most of us critisice how unrealistic Ekta is , we still watch Kyunki... isnt that just laughing at our selves?
Yeah, I have said it before. I am an idiot to continue to watch it. Besides the fantasy, it's quite often dragging and repetitive. But why single out Kyunki, most soaps are.
**Do u think it is foolish on our part to watch her unrealism?
These days there are things called "reality shows " on TV. Doesn't that mean that rest is not expected to be real. Sometimes the unrealism is humorous and entertaining, so its okay to watch it
**Out of all the unrealistic events, which one do u find the most unrealistic? WHy?
The family always lectures one another on being honest, truthful and full of morale and family values. But they don't seem to trust anyone and the person who knows the truth is often singles out
Discussions in the forth coming weeks – I would leave it to you dearest !! Let me keep guessing

**On a scale of one to ten, how unrealistic is Kyunki?
8/10.

**Is the unrealisim is Kyunki justified?
yes, it is after all a soap opera. At least in some ways, it is better than movies where they show very dreamy, unrealistic outlook of life. This is other extreme....lols.

**Although most of us criticise how unrealistic Ekta is , we still watch Kyunki... isnt that just laughing at our selves?
to some extent, we laugh at ourselves when we look for entertainment value, determine it to be zero, and still watch the show for its entertainment. We criticize when the makers show the strangest ways of possible ways, when we feel disappointed as viewers, and only because we care.

**Do u think it is foolish on our part to watch her unrealism?
To some extent, but then we are all optimists. We want the show to be what it used to be before rape, murders and court scenes. Remember yeh serial bhi kabhi achchhi thi!!!

**Out of all the unrealistic events, which one do u find the most unrealistic? WHy?
80% of events are unrealistic, in my opinion.

1. Good people shown are 'devta' in all circumstances, and bad people are so evil....such nicety and evilness both are unrealistic.

2. fatal attraction of Meera for Mihir...at least Mandira fell in love with Amar, who she thought was unattached. Meera have always known Mihir as a married man, and still wanting to get this at least 50 year old man.

3. Karan's wedding with Tanya, w/o any plan B of what happens when wife1-gets-out-of-coma.

4. Most irritating thing I find is the novel concept of overhearing. No one ever overheard, Ansh challenging Tulsi, Karan or Nandini in the house, but people like Sejal & Mohini always seem to overhear all privatest conversations to their benefit

5. In this tightly knit family, they often give bhashans of honesty, but when it comes to honest communication....it is unreal. No one seems to believe in it.
