Dear Friends,
At this moment I am very pleased with the serial called 'Agle Janam Mohe Bitiya ki jo' simple story, told in a simple way'..a tryst of a poor girl thinking her gauna is done and she going to her husband's house, i.e the house where he works'.her simple desires, waiting for her man to come to her each night etc etc. This story I started with 'Cinderella' kind of effect to be continued as a saga of a journey of the simple un-educated poor girl. I have taken the story a 100 years back, to make in a bit more dramatic, how a girl decides to change her fate'.her journey of life'..and yes this is a JB story once again as I am yet to find the chemistry of Laali and Shekhar of Agle to write a story'..
Friends, in this story you may not find any big twists and turns as this is more about evolving about a relationship, to make this story interesting I will write about one or two funny or weird customs which existed those days, incase you know of any, you can pm them to me, I would love to incorporate'..

Storms Never Last
She looked at the mountain of utensils meant for washing'.she closed her eyes, her back was breaking but then she knew she will not have respite until she finished her work, she took out the big bell metal tub, put the utensils in it and hauled it up going towards the village well, the sun was strong, she pulled her 'anchal' covering her face, she walked effortless inspite of carrying the heavy burden'
Aa gayi maharani, commented one of the ladies as she approached them'.
Hai toh naukrani lekin aisi chal chalan hai dekh ke maloom parta hai maharani'.what a pride and for what god knows'.another lady laughed as she saw her putting down the tub and picking up the mud and ash kept at the corner for washing utensils she got on with her job once again ignoring the ladies and their comments'..it was a daily routine and she was already bored of their comments and actions'..
The ladies in turn gave her hateful glances, they hated when she did not react, inspite of knowing her nature, they still hoped she would react and they would have a wonderful afternoon, the monotonous job of washing utensils will spice up'.
Kyu re Bani, humlog ke saath toh seedhi muh baath nehi karti lekin yeh toh batah kya khabar hai shaadi ka, zamindar toh satwe asmaan me honge....unki beti ki shaadi'
Sow to hai'she replied in a bored tone'.
Kya kya gehna ban rahe hai, how many saris have been ordered asked another'
Bahut sare'.kafi'..she replied as she scrubbed the pan
Areh kyu nehi kyu nehi'ekhi ladki aur zamindarji toh kuch kum khun nehi chuste hamare, kyu nehi denge.remarked Nirmala, scrubbing plates hard with her reed thin hands'.
She looked up and sighed, cannot blame Nirmala, their land is mortgaged with the zamindar and they are getting half the amount paid for cultivating their own land'.
Bani tried to cheer her up, ha shaadi toh ho rahi hai Nirmala didi, lekin Priyambada ki umar dekhiye pura 17 saal, iss umar me shaadi'.samaj rahe hai na'..
Ha ha baap ki pyari, lekin chehera, zamindar ki beti hai isiliye shaadi ho rahi hai, hamare yeha hoti toh pura jeevan kuwari baithi rehti'.commented Revati'..ek cheez bata Bani kya dekhta Zamindarji us ladki me'.
Kya dekhta matlab, yeh bhi koi puchne ki baath hai, unki beti hai who, khubsurat nehi leki apna khun toh sahi'..aur Priyambada ke janam ke baad suna hai zamindarji ko bahut faida huwa hai'.
Kyu nehi honge, jaisehi apne beti ki muh dekhe waisehi zamindarji bare josh se apne zamindari sambhalne lage akhir iss ladki ka shaadi dene me jo kharcha hoga'.
The ladies laughed, Bani gave a stiff smile, Nirmala sighed 'theek kaha tumne Gayatri, uska phal hum bhugat rahe hai'..
Areh Bani suna ha, ladka ka dusra shaadi hai'..
Iss umar me bin shaadi wala ladka kaha se milega bhabiji....
Kaisi mari kuch pata hai....
Bimari me suna......Bani pours water over the utensils'..
Ek do biwi marne se kuch dosh nehi hota, akhir mard hai but tell us what all she is getting, zamindar ko kitna chuna lag raha hai yeh ladki par karne me'.Revati winked at Bani'..
Pura toh nehi bana abhi tak lekin maine suna'ek tabeez, churiya, payal aur'.as Bani narrated she watched the faces of the ladies surrounding her, she felt good, they were hearing her in rapt attention for the first time in her lifetime some people were listening to her'.she tried to make the list long, describing the jewelry from her imagination'.some Priyambada had and others she made up '.she was enjoying herself
Areh O kalmuhi, sare samay kya idhar hi bitayigi, aur koi kaam kaaj nehi hai, baki ka kaam kaun karega tera baap''screamed a voice bringing back Bani to the real world'.
Ji ma ho giya, Bani picked up the tub but not before the lady came shook her head by her hair'.Bani did not make any noise instead when the lady released her, she ran towards her home'.
Areh Jigyasa didi tum bhi kya karti ho, Bani ko bhaga diya pura sunne bhi nehi diya'.
Ha ha tumlogo ka ghar me toh koi kaam kaaj nehi hai, pura dupaher bhar khali gappe...kyu re zamindarji kya bigara hai tumlogo ka ki tumlog badi dilchasbi se sun rahe ho unka kya sarvanash ho rahe hai....
Sarvanash?
Meri aur do do beti hai us kal muhi ki gauna karake kya mai apne betiyo ko ghar me baitha ke rakhungi''
Lekin?
Lekin kya, mere ghar me mard nehi hai mujhe khilane ke liye'.kisi tarah jee rahi hu'Jigyasa replied back'.
Kyu Zamidariji ki kripa toh hai, Revati replied back'
Jigyasa screamed'.chup, chhoti muh aur badi baath'.mujh par ungli uthana'idhar baith baith ke guppe, niklo idhar se nehi toh mai zamindar ji se kehkar band karwa dungi yeh kuwa'.chal nikal idhar se sab ke sab'.
Bani was sitting behind abandoned hut the ladies used for changing clothes, she heard everything, sighing she got up quietly and ensuring she her step mother was not looking she crept towards her home.
++++
Bani cleaned the kitchen and made the clay oven ready for evening use. As she completed her work silently she heard Jigyasa returning grumbling and cursing the village ladies, Bani made no noise, she knew better, with her ears alert she heard Jigyasa going towards her bedroom, Bani smiled, Jigyasa will not miss the glass of lassi she has kept, she knew her step mother loved it and Bani has mixed a pinch of 'afim' (opium) for next three / four hours she will have some respite, no she is not guilty as Jigyasa had no qualms in beating her whenever she felt like'.
Bani was born with ill luck everybody said, she was four when her mother died of childbirth. Bani was once again blamed for it as she was during the year she was born. That year due to drought her father had to keep considerable amount of land mortgaged with the zamindar and everybody knew that once gone to the zamindar, will not get it back during ones' lifetime and then her mother died. After six months or so her father re-married, her grandmother said men cannot live alone and coaxed him to marry, though Nishikant was unwilling but then Jigyasa who was widowed a year back had inherited quite a bit of land from her dead husband, returned to her mayka in the village complaining for a woman it was difficult to manage it so many thought as now widow remarriage was becoming a fashion in the cities so village elders met and thought when they belong to same caste and similar background why not get them married. It will solve both their problems. Jigyasa was an attractive woman though with a girl child as the same age as Bani, Nishikant agreed. His daughter will get a mother and a sister, what more can one want.
After few months of bliss, Jigyasa's real being started to come into light, the neighbours had a great time listening to Jigyasa screaming at her mother-in-law, they said 'chalo koi hai bagal me, Kiran ki awaaz toh sunai nehi deta tha', they remembered Bani's mother's soft nature. Her father tried to intervene only to be told by Jigyasa that how can he dare to scream inspite of living off his wife'.after all without my contribution you were living a poor life'..her father swallowed, yes it was true.
In the meantime a 'nautanki group' happed to perform in the village. In one of their shows Jigyasa and Angshuman Rai, the Zamindar came face to face, Angshuman smiled and Jigyasa looked at him with the corner of her eyes.
Nishikant heard when he went to attend the weekly market in the neighbouring village, Jigyasa had once again gone out of the house and remained out for quite sometime, his mother reported'..
Nishikant confronted, Jigyasa, cried, beat her heart, why cannot she die, what can be more distressing than to hear her husband accusing her to adultery'..hai hai mai mar kyu nehi gayi'..
Next morning when Nishikant left for the field, Jigyasa picked up a massive fight with her saas, accusing her of ruining her married by accusing her falsely'.Dadi went out of the house in disgust not to return again. Nishikant ran to his sisters to enquire if their mother had come there, only to return in vain. After that day, Dadi could not be found.
Bani cried several nights in her sleep but Dadi did not come back. Slowly Bani realized that she was being used as the maid of the house. Her father once again protested but then Jigyasa replied that every girl has to learn to do household work, even her daughter Piarani does, Nishikant replied he hardly sees her doing anything'.to which Jigyasa replied this is the problem of being step mother ' kuch achha karo toh bhi badnami'..Nishikant kept quiet.
When Bani was about 8, Nishikant started looking for a match for her. Though he knew that the government was discouraging child marriages but somehow he felt something should be done before long. The match was found in a village about 100 kms from his. A distant relative too, quite well off, the boy was about 15, studying in the village school, a bright student, the school headmaster was saying he should shine in life should he be educated in the city, Nishikant said he will give the rest of his land should the marriage take place now''
Theek hai, abhi parai ka kharcha de dijiye aur gauna ke time, ek gale ka haar, kan ki bali aur do char churiya sone ka de dijiye ga'..said the boy's mother'..
Nishikant agreed happily'..itna toh mai deta hi'.he replied and inspite of Jigyasa protests, Nishikant stayed firm and got Bani married. All Bani remembers a lanky looking lad standing next to her in the brightly lit lanterns.
After her marriage, the boy she heard had left for Calcutta a big city where they had big school and colleges, places to learn. Another development took place after she got married, she was stopped from attending the village school, had to stay back home, helping her step mother and her father fought every night with his 2nd wife. Bani did not know why but soon to be told that Jigyasa was not keeping well as she will have a baby'.Bani felt excited, Piarani was a moody girl, at times played with her but in front of her mother she acted pricy with Bani, Bani thought she will get a new playmate'.little did she know what was stored for her.
In due time the child was born, another girl, seeing the child, the villagers made snide remarks, Nishikant became very quiet and Bani thought everybody is unhappy because it is a girl, ladka hota toh sab khush hote, the girl was named Renuka, as the months passed, Bani's work load increased, she had to do baby sitting too, specially when her mother chose to go out for her rounds of her so called friend's house'.Nishikant one day left for Bani's sasural, to speak with her inlaws if they can prepone the 'gauna'. He did not return, his body was found hanging from a tree outside the village. It was later heard that Bani's sasur was asking for a higher dowry since now that his son will be highly educated and most likely will get a job in a big British firm.
