When I was writing The crushed Innocence, one of my very good friend from the forum pmed me, why do women have to be pure and men can go around…yes it is true specially in our society where the demand of virgin wife is very high but I think things are changing, people are accepting 2nd marriages and girls with past affairs. In urban India these changes can be noticed. What made me sit to write this ff is the thought that after a harrowing experience how do the individual go into a 2nd relationship perhaps with a lot of apprehension, fear, and maybe what makes them finally say yes is family pressure, last but not the least is there is some sort of attraction, wanting to know the other person to share his/her pain?

Ek Kashish ( An Attraction)
Jai turned off the shower, put on the bathrobe and walked out of the bathroom to find Liza in her undergarments applying makeup, ignoring her, Jai opened the cupboard and got out his suit and started getting dressed, he adjusted his bow tie and gelled his hair, back brushed and picked up his dinner jacket to leave the room….
Jai, give me two minutes more, Liza said screwing her danglers…
For what…
Jai remember, I am also invited at the party…
So
As we are invited at the same party, we might as well go together…
You are forgetting something, Leena, I mean Liza, I go to parties alone, I hate any sort of gossips
Liza stomped her feet, look at him and his guts, sometime ago when he was screwing me, tabh gossip ka kheyal nehi aya…
Jai quickly walked across the lobby of his hotel to his way out, Masi is back her theerath, had to cut short as she fell ill, he has to return home tonight, she doesn't approve his spending nights outside the house when he is in town…
Jai got into the waiting car and left for the party…

Bani was carrying out the chores given to her mechanically, her efficient hands were making the ladoos in perfect round balls and in same size, Diwali was round the corner and after that her cousin will get engaged so double celebration in the house…sweets and snacks were being made keeping in mind about the same, children were playing around in the courtyard running after imaginary enemies sometimes amongst the working ladies, areh sambhalke sambhalke shouted some of them trying to control the children, who conveniently paid no head, Bani smiled, her mother Kiran who was sitting opposite making gujias, observed…what an innocent smile thought Kiran, she looked at her daughter, a delicate beauty, how can anyone be so cruel to someone like her…
Areh Bani tu idhar baithi hai, areh Rano tujhe upar bula rahi hai, called out her Chachi….her daughter Rano was getting engaged to Ranveer Bali who belonged to a big business family in Mumbai….
Mujhe, Kiyu?
Woh toh mujhe nehi pata lekin kuch urgent hai…upar ja, baki ladoo mai bana deti hu…
Bani got, up washed her hand and wiped it dry, smelled them and wrinkled her nose, will have to wash it with soap, too much of ghee, she thought to herself and walked towards the stairs, slowly and steadily, Kiran and Mala Chachi observed her gait, when Bani disappeared from their sight, they sighed, looked at each other and went back to their work…
Bani came and stood at the door of Rano's room…
Rano, tumne mujhe bulaya hai, she enquired…
Ha di, idhar ayo…Rano signaled Bani…
Bani entered, Rano's room was strewn with clothes and jewelry, Bani gives a disdain glance and goes to Rano....
Keya baath hai Rano…she asked…
This is for you, Rano picked up a light golden colour Lehenga Choli with mixed colour thread work….Engagement ke din pehenna…
Iska keya jaroorat tha, Bani asked looking at the dress without any interest…
Jaroorat tha, keya pahenge engagement ke din, asked Rano, Bani gave a tentative smile, dekhiye mirror pe kaise lag raha hai, Rano put the dress over Bani's body and made her stand in front of the mirror, Bani watched the dress instead of her full form alongwith the dress and commented bahut sundar a bit half heartedly…
Rano sighed and thought, after all these days she stood in front of the mirror atleast….Ha bahut sundar, Rano said firmly chalo, iska matching jewelry nikalte…she pulled Bani towards the bed where things were lying….
While Rano got busy, Bani watched Rano, hesitated for a moment and then said…Rano, I know chacha ne sab pata kiye hai, lekin I mean please do not hurry even mahurat nikal aye toh…
Rano looked up…reached out for Bani, Di I know what you mean, lekin naseeb apna apna, Ranveer waise bhi wait nehi karna chahata hai, the family has become careful lekin,,,itna sab karne ke baad bhi agar kuch an ban ho jata hai, then what can I say, except for my phuta naseeb…
Subh Subh bolo Rano, aisa kuch nehi hoga except I want you and Ranveer to get to know each other well…
You said it di, lekin hoga kaise, he stays in Mumbai and me in Mt Abu, got to know each other through internet and then when I broke the news to my family, keya hungama huwa tha tumhe yaad toh hai, Taoji bahut mushkil se raazi huwe, after he met Ranveer and his family, tabh jake, Ranveer Mt Abu a saka to ask my hand for marriage formally, dekh ke toh achha laga, infact he wanted me to come to Mumbai and stay with his family there lekin humara parivaar kitna old fashioned hai tum toh jantehi ho, shaadi ke pehle sasural me rehna bikul no no hai…
Bani agreed, ha thora old fashioned jaroor hai lekin unity bahut hai, all brothers think alike, Taoji ek baath bata denge aur saare bhai unko follow karenge, akhir bare bhai jo kaha hai, Bani replies in chirpy voice, Rano looks at her, nods her head, after a long long time it was good to see that Bani is coming back to her old form…

Jai watched the doctor writing prescription, asking masi a few questions and then after he is through, looked up to say…achha kiya maji aap jo chale aye…
Keya achha, Diwali dekhne ka mann tha Haridwar ki harki piyari ke ghat me baithkar…lekin Mumbai me rehte rehte thand ki adat chhut gayi….
Ha pneumonia hote hote bach gaye aap. Koi baath nehi, aap abhi bikul theek hai, Diwali me masti kijiye aur phir Ranveer ke engagement me jayiye…
Ja sakoongi keya…
Ha kiyu nehi….aap bilkul theek hai abh….Mr Walia, your maasi is perfectly fine to travel….
Thank you doctor, Jai got up to see the doctor off, after they are out of hearing distance, the doctor spoke to Jai….
Mr Walia, she is o.k. now, the problem is a bit psychological, she is disturbed from inside, trying to find peace lekin something is bothering her, festive season a gaya hai, just see she does strain too much and in general keep her happy….bas then everything will be alright…Jai nodded he knew what was wrong, he promised to take care, paid the doctor his fees and saw him off….
On his way upto his room, he noticed, Masi and Dadi, talking with Aditya his brother in law, most probably finalizing the details of the engagement ceremony, thank god, there is something for the older generation to look forward to after a long long time…
Jai came to his room, took out the tie and started wearing in standing in front of the mirror, at 34 he as achieved which many of his contemporaries will be envious of, to achieve this he had to bear some losses but he does not regret them anymore, he had set a target for himself and he has achieved it, in that course if someone wished not to be a part of his life then why should he regret it, he had made his stand very clear from the beginning, it was something she was aware about, then why such fuss about being neglected etc etc…Maasi took the hardest as Meera was her relative's daughter…. ….Jai gave one last look at the mirror, is it a white hair near his temple or the light making the hair seem white, he thought….with another last look he took long steps out of the room to go down for office…
Areh Jai, tu ja raha hai office….
Ji Masi….
Yeh bill lete ja, Rajkamal Jewellers se Dadi aur mere naam se ek set liya hai Rano ke liye….cheque bhej dena…
Ji masi, bhej dunga…..
Aur Jai, tu bhi chal raha hai na….

Mt Abu sagai ke liye....
Dekhna parega....
Keya dekhna parega beta, Aditya tu Jai ka jane ki arrangement kar, ladka ka mama hai woh, kaise nehi jayega...
Aditya looked at Jai and shrugged, Jai nodded and left, he had no doubt that Aditya must have instigated the matter, why suddenly Masi will ask him whether he is going to be present for the engagement or not, everybody knew that he normally avoided such functions, other than office and business functions, he was seen rarely in social function other than charity events which he looked upon as extension of his business dealings…

Rano was getting ready for her engagement, her friends had come over, many of them knew but wanting to hear again and again, Rano romance with her 'internet friend' in pseudonym which turned into love, revealing their identities gradually, how he proposed by only seeing her photo and then the hell broke loose in her house, taoji, her father, chacha raising their hands in disbelief, yeh kaisa pyar hai, tum toh usse janti bhi nehi ho, that is not true we have been speaking to each other everyday for the last 4 years, she had replied…anyway for their ladli, they decided to go to Mumbai and take stock of the matter, fortunately they liked Ranveer, his father, Dadi and his siblings, did not get to meet his mother as she was in London on holiday but met his mama briefly, who happens to be the head of family, not much older than Ranveer but greatly respected in house and the outside world for his business acumen, social standing etc….the men agreed to go ahead, mia biwi raazi toh keya karega kaazi…
Keya naam hai uska mamaji ka, someone asked…
Jai Walia, you know of course the young, smart and handsome chairman of Walia Industries….
Oh that one, is he married, good god, you will be staying at the same house Rano, Ranveer works for his Mama nah…
Ha, Rano agreed, he works for his mamaji but he is also a shareholder….
Wasn't Jai Walia's name there in the papers a few years ago regarding a mishap in his life…
Every family has their share of mishaps Rano added quickly …bringing the conversation to a stop…..Bani who was hearing the conversation standing at the back, tying the hair of one of the girls, stopped, her senses got alerted, is this true, did Rano know about this before hand, does the family know, her hands started shaking…what sort of mishap was it to come in the papers, Bani tried to control her hands, failing which, she told the girl, Rupa can you do the rest yourself, mujhe ek kaam yaad agiya….Bani ran out of the room towards hers, trying to control her feeling, I hope sab theek hai this time, I hope nothing goes wrong, I hope Rano ….
Keya beta, tu abhi taiyyar nehi huwa, Kiran asked, ja ja jaldi kar beta, Rano ke saath tujhe rehna hoga...
Keya yeh jaroori hai Ma, asked Bani...
Rano ka yehi ichha hai....Bani turned to drag herself slowly into her roam…if Rano wants it, she has to get ready…
