Yesterday I completed my ff Anokha Rista

Anyway, all well that ends well. At present I am writing a ff based on the idea given by our forum friend Somali, so in the meanwhile before I start posting my new ff, I am posting 'Woh Raat' which was an entry in 19th June anniversary competition. Woh Raat
Jai returned from office and went hunting for his wife…
This has been his regular routine for the last three months…Bani, his wife whom he married un-knowingly, then fell head over heals in love by her dignity, her self respect, her concern about her sisters, her respect and duties towards his family, is a different woman now. The girl who bore his ill temper, his anger, his cruelty in silence, has changed to a woman who doesn't get affected with any such emotions today.
The woman who guarded her sisters like a lioness, doesn't make a sound when she sees them being scolded or ill treated by him or his family members, she is lost in her own world.
Jai goes around the house looking for her in each room, he does not know where she will be today then he saw her, sitting outside the puja room drawing rangoli, still better thought Jai than playing with dolls, on hearing his footsteps she lifts up her face to watch him coming down the passage….
Kaise ho Bani, he asks the routine question…
Mai theek hu, aap kaise ho Mamaji, she asks…
Jai lets out a silent sigh…
Tum keya kar rahe ho Bani…
Rangoli deh rahi hu...
Kiyon, koi puja hai....
Bani thinks for a moment....
Nehi hai keya…lekin aaj toh Ganesh Chaturthi hai…maine dekha TV me sab Ganeshji ka puja kar rahe hai…
Jai gets the hint, must be in some serial….tumne theek kaha Bani, mai toh bhul hi gaya tha…aaj Ganesh chaturthi hai, naya kapra pehenna chahiye…tumhe naya kapra liya keya…
Nehi liya….keya hoga?…
Kuch nehi hoga…chalo chalke naye kapre lete hai…
Bani looks down at the Rangoli, it is incomplete…
Woh chhor do, Masi ko bol dunga, koi aur khatam kar lega…tum haath dhoke chappal change karke ayo….
Bani gives a big smile and runs off…
Jai glances at the rangoli, its good, Bani has not lost her touch….
Bani comes rushing back, chaliye chaliye jaldi chaliye dukan me bahut bhir hoga, bahut samay lagega…aur laute waqt pau bhaji bhi khana hai, theek hai na mamaji…
Ha Bani theek hai, chalo, he takes her arm and goes towards the main door, signaling masi that they are going out….
Masi watches them go out and lets out a sigh….

Jai drives out of the Walia Mansion, Bani is sitting next to him looking pretty as a doll but her eyes, which he loved the most has no sparkle, no language, they are almost lifeless, un-affected by the activities around, and like everyday, Jai is taking her out so that something, somewhere gives her a spark, reminds her of her past, but then her past is also not very happy to remember…
Jai takes Bani to the nearest shopping mall, Bani is excited like a child, going from one shop to another seeing various dresses but could not decide which one to buy, how unlike her, thought Jai, she always chose her's fast and helped her sisters to choose theirs….suddenly in shop Jai notices a sari very similar to the one Bani was wearing, the night when they consummated their marriage, what a beautiful night it was, 19th June, 3 months after they were married…white and pink, this sari was also of the same combination except it had some bead work in the body….
Bani dekho yeh sari le lete, bahut sundar hai nah….
Seeing the sari on the mannequin Bani frowns, Jai watches her face carefully, she extends her hand to touch it, Jai's hands curls into fist, his breath catches his throat..
Yeh safed hai, safed buddhe log pahente hai, mujhe coloured chahiye, Bani cried out like a child, much to the amusement of the shopkeepers, they tried to hide their smile, keya pagal ladki hai….

Jai tucked Bani in her bed, she lay down yawning, already half asleep, the medicine is already having its effect, Jai combs his fingers through her hair, uske baad keya huwa, he asks….
Uske baad mai aur Anu kitchen me jakar Tony ko bahut taang kiye aur aur….Bani's eyes were closing…..
Jai watched her falling asleep, like everyday Jai was hearing what Bani did the whole day…her eyes closes, Jai lowers his head to kiss her on her mouth, she moans, her arms go around his neck, the kiss deepens, slowly her arms loosen, falls apart, Jai lifts his head, she turns to her side, Mr Walia, she whispers….
Jai gazes at her face very intently but she is fast asleep….
