Meanwhile an excited Charu, unaware of the intensity of the drama around her, pulls the album from Gokul's hand and turns the pages with trembling fingers to look at the photos ... yes it was just like what she had remembered ... how beautiful she looked in her blue sari ... here was a picture of her mummy all decked up and that of her father looking smart in a blue shirt ... here was her periamma, periappa and Nitish ... and at last here was one of her fiance...

Charu sighs out dreamily ... "Gokul you look so very handsome in your pink shirt and dark brown trousers ..."

Instantly Charu's father unable to believe his ears turns his head towards her ... and both her parents approach her quickly ... and peep over her shoulders to look at the photo she was pointing out ... and sure enough it was Gokul's face in that photo and in every photo ... Amazing!!!! Gokul had photo shopped the entire album!!!

Charu's Dad shakes his head in amazement ... and gives Gokul a quizzical look ... Gokul just shrugs his shoulders and smiles calmly ... now relieved Charu's parents once again happily bid both of them goodbye and leave for their home ...

Gokul sees them off and then turns to watch Charu ... Charu is fully engrossed in turning the pages of the album and looking at each photo with rapt attention ...

Gokul gets attracted to the way Charu's dark eyelashes curl on her silken cheeks ... how her soft pink lips are half open showing her pearly front teeth ... then his eyes move down to watch her long shapely fingers turning each page and touching a photo here and there ... just like a butterfly flitting from flower to flower ...

Gradually Charu feels Gokul's eyes on her and she looks up and murmurs ... "Gokul!" ... Gokul lifts his eyes ... both their eyes lock ... and they are drawn to each other ... the room is now charged with electricity ...

Then slowly Gokul approaches her bed ... his eyes are brimming with love ... he leans forward and holds out his hand and says "Charu ... can I now tempt you with this gift to take your mind off that album and the past and to look at me and the present world?"...

Charu laughs nervously and looks down at his hand ... she sees the box with the diamond earrings ... Charu's breath catches in her throat at his nearness ... she can even see the medallion on the chain dangling from the open "V" of his shirt ... her heart flutters ...

Charu lifts her hand and tries to remove the dangler from her left ear with her trembling fingers ... the earring refuses to budge ... Gokul sees her struggling ... he keeps the box of earrings on the bed ... bends closer and pushes her hand aside ... he tucks a strand of silky hair behind her ears ... then gently removes the danglers from her ears ...

She can smell his cologne and aftershave lotion ... the feather-light touch of his fingers tickles the sensitive skin behind her ears ... and sends a shiver to run up and down her spine ...

When he feels her trembling ... Gokul moves back ... the smell of her jasmine is driving him crazy ... he feels like loosening her braids and running his hand through her silky thick black hair ... Gokul cannot hide his desire any longer ... Gokul picks up the box of earrings and thrusts it into her hand ... and gets up abruptly ...

Charu looks confused for a second ... but his admiring eyes meet hers ... and she opens the box and carefully puts on the earrings ... then she looks up at him ... smiling shyly she asks ... "Gokul how do I look?"

Gokul replies in a suddenly husky voice ... "Oh Charu! Do you need to ask? You look so lovely..." ...

Gokul stands transfixed for a moment and then he steps forward to stand in front of her ... he gently and slowly lifts her chin with the tip of his finger, until her face is uplifted towards his ... Charu feels her skin tingle under his warm breath ... her eyes search his in breathless anticipation ... her heart beats faster and something deep within her quivers in response to the feel of his warm touch ...

Yes ... Gokul's tenderness towards Charu is beautiful and natural ... but is his love reciprocated by Charu ... for after all the entire love story is a creation of Gokul's mind ... what will happen when Charu regains her memory ...

PART VII ... Revelation

Hearing quick footsteps in the corridor ... Gokul lifts his head ... drops his hand ... and quickly straightening himself ... he steps back ...

As soon as the dietary leaves ... the door is again pushed open and the Chief doctor comes into the room on his routine round ... he exchanges pleasantries with Gokul ... examines Charu and says "She's much better now. I think we can discharge her in a day or two." ... Gokul thanks the doctor and goes outside to see him off ...

When he enters the room Gokul finds Charu lying on the bed with her head resting on a pillow against the headrest ... "Are you tired Charu?" he asks apprehensively ...

Gokul laughs and says "Okay Charu ... it is your choice ... and take your own time to shower ... I will just be sitting here and reading this newspaper."

Charu hurriedly throws open her bedroom door and enters in ... she is so thrilled ... and now to get dressed in a pretty dress that will make Gokul gaze at her as adoringly as he had done "the other evening" ... Charu giggles bashfully at her naughty thoughts ...

Charu drops the bundle of clothes on the bed ... and bends down to pick the piece of paper that had fallen down ...
