Chapter 2 - Buds over Studs

"Taani, there's a call for you"

I picked up the phone from uncle and to my surprise it was none other than my best friends; Vishu & Roshi calling all the way from Sri Lanka.

Vishu: Taani, why the hell is your cell switched off? You know how worried we were?

Taani: I'm sorry Vishu, I was going to call you guys but....

Vishu wouldn't give me a chance to speak. She sounded extremely worried and angry. I didn't have to hold the receiver to my ear as her voice was crystal clear from far distance

Vishu: ya right!!! You have no idea what was going to happen if I couldn't find your uncle's number.

Taani: but Vishu, didn't I give it to you at the airport??

Roshi: hell yes!!! You gave it to Vishu and NOT ME!!!

Now it was Roshi's turn to scream. Roshi was at Vishu's place and they were on call conferencing.

Vishu: oh come on Roshi, just chill woman

Roshi: chill?? Chill my foot

Taani: girls, what happened?

Roshi: let me tell you what didn't happen. I almost got a heart attack

Vishu: oh stop it yar Roshi, you're such a drama queen

Roshi: drama queen?? Me?? You misplaced the piece of paper which had the number. We spent the last 2 hours searching for it. 2 hours!!! Can you hear me?? 2 bloody hours

They were going at each other like two 6 year olds fighting for a Barbie doll or a candy bar. They have disagreements on so many things and always at loggerheads since their thought processes were on cross roads more often than not. Despite that they were the best of friends since kindergarten. Sometimes I wonder how they survived as best friends after all.

But I was never alone when I was with them. They were my best friends, my support system and my stress busters. Together, we were like 3 musketeers. Our tag line was 'buds over studs'. Although I was silent and less active in the recent past but that didn't stop them from loving me or more of bugging me.

Vishu: chill yaar, we found the number and Taani's safe so can you please stop hitting me now? Taani, she's hitting me yar!! OUCH!!!

Roshi: you deserve it you nut head

Vishu: you wouldn't believe Taani, she was going to call the Indian High Commission, to lodge a complaint

Taani: hah?

Vishu: yes to report about a missing person on flight: UL 475 from Colombo to Mumbai ha ha

Roshi: haso haso (smack!!)

Vishu: OUCH!! Oh stop it yar!!!! It hurts

Roshi: ha ha…. So Taani, what's up? How was the flight?

Vishu: how's my hot George Clooney?

Vishu refers to uncle Shekhar as 'George Clooney. For some weird reason she finds him hot. Not only her, there are crazy women in Mumbai who find him hot and uncle has no qualms against it. In fact he's proud of that tag line; hottie.

Taani: he's fine

Vishu: so who's he into these days?? Is he taken yet? OUCH!!! What the fish Roshi!!!!! What was that smack for?

Roshi: to shut your clumsy mouth

Vishu: right so you don't fancy Shekhar??

Roshi: no I don't fancy old men

Vishu: oh Christ!!! Old men?? So Shah Rukh Khan is like what er 16?

Roshi: don't drag him in to this and how dare you??

Vishu: OUCH!!!! Jeez woman stop hitting me!!!

So they were back to square one. Brawling over men and that too SRK and my uncle. My silence didn't bother their WWE cat fight and I didn't mind their egg throwing, eye poking bashing session either.
