CHAPTER FOUR
Twinkle was pacing her room trying to contain her anger and frustration. Ugh! She grabbed another dart and directly aimed it towards the photo of Kunj she had managed to stick onto her cupboard. After an hour of trying to figure out how to deal with these agitated feelings, this was the best she could come up with. "Haan haan haslo Khadoos Sarna, you must be having an absolute blast at home right?" she glared at his smiling picture. "Anyway why do I care? Mujhe kya farak padta hai? I'm Twinkle Taneja, Miss. Amritsar. It's not like I was hoping you would forget the challenge and come to meet me or anything" she said to no one in particular.
She marched over to the balcony, desperately needing fresh air to calm herself down again. She had overheard the conversation between the workers in the lawn that Kunj had returned home. At first she didn't believe it but then a couple of hours ago Leela had rung her to give her the news. Her mother wasn't stupid, she knew they were in the middle of a feud and she tried her hardest to convince Twinkle to come over and patch up with Kunj but Twinkle was the epitome of stubborn. But she couldn't deny the hurt she felt knowing that he was a few yards away and didn't even bother to come and see her.
Just then she noticed a tall figure walking out of the Sarna house. Squinting her eyes in an attempt to get a better look, her heart stopped. She quickly retreated away from the balcony so that he wouldn't see her. It was him. It was actually him... and he was heading straight to her house. Butterflies of excitement exploded in her stomach and she couldn't help the huge smile that adorned her face. Her Kunj was back. She quickly composed herself, gave herself the once over in the mirror and eagerly waited for him to walk through her bedroom door...
Twinkle standing at her window didn't go unnoticed by Kunj. He had seen her staring into nowhere in particular. He had also witnessed how she moved away once her eyes fell on him. He smiled since he knew his Siyappa Queen didn't want him to see her. She looked exactly the same to him, from where he could see anyway, like time had stopped for her the day he left. Little did he know how true that was. Laughing to himself, he walked into the Taneja household and headed straight for her bedroom where he knew she would eagerly be waiting for him.
As he opened the door to her bedroom, something came crashing just on the right side of his head. He immediately knew that the aim was his head and he thanked God that he was on the football team during his college days so his reflexes were still in pretty good condition. He ducked again as another object, something that looked like a vase, came towards him again before smashing into a thousand pieces against the wall. "Twinkle kya kar rahi hai yaar? Mujhe chot lag jayegi!" He tried to reason but that didn't stop the assault from continuing. "Khadoos kahi ke, stupid, idiot, dhokebaaz, kyu aye ho yaha huh?" Twinkle screamed as she looked around for something else to throw. She picked up an ornament nearby and launched it towards him again. Kunj couldn't help smiling "Twinkle, meri baat tho sunle", Twinkle was in no mood to heed his requests. She resorted to the pillows resting on her sofa because she'd smashed all the damaging objects already, "Mujhe tujhse koi baat nahi karni, get out of my room Kunj Sarna!" she shouted back attacking him with the pillow in her hand. Kunj raised his arms in front of his face to defend himself. He knew his Siyappa Queen wasn't going to give in so easily, he knew she could be lethal at times like this, so he grabbed a pillow thrown near him and defended himself. Twinkle continued cursing and attacking him, accusing him of being selfish and not caring about her whilst Kunj, who was now fed up of playing the good guy' fired back at her with the same accusations of her being childish, stubborn and egoistic; it takes two to Tango after all.
Once Kunj had had enough and he knew that Twinkle had vented out all her anger and frustration too, he grabbed the pillow from her arms and threw it away before pulling her in for a bone-crushing hug. He lied before. NOW he was truly home. Inhaling her familiar scent, he wrapped his arms tighter around her, letting his body engulf her. He missed how at peace he felt with Twinkle in his arms. He ran his hands through her hair and pressed her harder into him. He finally felt whole again.
Twinkle doesn't remember when the tears started, she just remembers feeling like the void which she had felt these past few months was finally gone, vanished like it didn't exist at all. It might have been him that left all those months ago but she felt like she was the one who was finally home. She wrapped her arms around his waist tighter and pressed her face into his chest. God, she really missed him so bad... his smell, his voice, his touch, their arguments, their fights, their patch ups...
After a while, they both separated from the hug but Twinkle remained in his arms. In amidst all the screaming and venting, Twinkle didn't even have a chance to take a good look at him but now looking up at his face, she felt her heart fill up. His deep brown eyes staring into her soul. He still looked the same, the same good looking, smart and dashing Kunj Sarna that she knew. He'd opted for an unshaved look and Twinkle couldn't help but admire how much the look suited him. To say Kunj felt any different would be a lie. He thought she looked the same from the balcony earlier but, boy, had she changed. He doesn't remember if she was always this beautiful or if the past few months had been extremely generous to her, but he couldn't help but admire her beauty. Her eyes still held that spark and she looked so innocent and vulnerable in his arms. Neither of them spoke a word but their eyes did all the speaking for them. The stupidity of their challenge and the battle of their egos kept them deprived of each other for so long and they both knew that very well. "Sorry" they both spoke at the same time breaking the silence. Their smiles automatically lit up their faces and soon they were both sprawled across Twinkle's bed, clutching their stomachs from laughter.
