CHAPTER TWO

Twinkle lay in bed that night recalling Chinki's words about Kunj's return. A full 6 months it had been since she last saw him. She still remembers the day that he left like it was yesterday. Typically, an argument broke out between the two on the day of his leave and so she didn't even turn up to see him off. The last she had seen him was from her balcony as the car drove off to the airport. She picked up his picture and spoke to the image of the two of them together, laughing. "Stupid khadoos Sarna, it's all your fault" she said into the air as she placed the picture back and proceeded to her balcony. She clearly wasn't going to fall asleep anytime soon so some fresh air would be great right now. She might even feel tired whilst she gazes at the stars; a childhood habit of hers whenever she felt overwhelmed with emotions.

The events leading up to Kunj's departure sprung into her mind. The day when she was in his room searching for one of her earrings which she assumed fell out when they were watching a movie. She was searching in his drawer when she came across his acceptance letter. And only God knew how much she fumed at that point in time, she was glad and really happy that he got into such a well-known institute but the fact that he didn't even tell her that he was thinking of applying really ticked her off. On top of that, that evening when she decided to play it cool and enquire about his future plans, he straight up lied to her. To HER. And that's when sh*t hit the fan. Their confrontation became so out of control that she ran back to her house in tears. The family members never got involved when they fought, because let's face it, it happened a lot. But this time was different, she remembers briefly seeing everyone's concerned expressions as she ran down the stairs and headed out of the door.

Once things had calmed down, well once she had calmed down, Kunj had climbed through her window one night and apologised for hiding such a big thing from her. Eventually she forgave him, after all, he had brought her chocolates and flowers to lighten up her mood. He knew her inside out. No matter how bad things got between them, she knew, with experience, that in the end she would always make up with her best friend and he would never let her stay mad at him for too long either. Kunj had explained his dilemma to her and described his indecisiveness about whether to accept the offer or not and she understood exactly where he was coming from. It made her feel a little guilty for overreacting when she first found out. In the end, she had convinced him that accepting the offer was the best thing that could happen to him and she would always support him in his decisions. And so, it was decided, Kunj would be moving away to pursue his further studies.

Everything was good between them for the next couple of weeks before he had to leave to settle into his new apartment. They fought less. They spent time together reading and finding out more about the institute. Twinkle even went the extra mile and found out the best places to visit and the best restaurants to dine at near his residential area - typical Twinkle Taneja.

Come the morning of his departure and Twinkle had put on a brave face because as much as she wanted to cry her eyes out at the fact that her best friend was leaving her, she knew it would only create doubt about his decision in his mind. So she decided that she would not let a single tear escape her eyes.

They were in his room whilst he was completing the last of his packing. She continued her daily routine of 21 questions which made Kunj laugh. When she asked why he was laughing at her, she replied that he was so not going to miss her non-stop blabbering and thanked God that no one was going to be there to pick and eat his brain, he could finally study in peace. And THAT was enough to start off their bickering... again. By the end, Twinkle was fully annoyed and had told him that even she couldn't wait for him to leave, in fact she wouldn't speak to him or even answer his calls once he left. Kunj wasn't one to back down either and so unwillingly they had both ended up agreeing to a challenge of who would make the first move. And that was that. Twinkle knew that he rang Leela regularly and called home too but he stuck by their deal and didn't even ring her once. So she, being Miss. Amritsar and all, didn't give up on her stubbornness either.

Pulling out of her thoughts, Twinkle scoffed. Thinking about it now, it was so stupid of them but they wouldn't be Kunj and Twinkle if they didn't engage in such stupidity. She smiled to herself, gosh, she really missed him in these past few months, things just weren't the same without him. Her eyes fell to his closed window again. Her sherni mode automatically switched on and she glared into the darkness of his room. If looks could destroy, more than just his window would need fixing right now. She headed back into the warmth of her room and picked up the photo once again. Looking directly into his eyes with a new found determination in her voice... "I am not going to lose this challenge Mr. Kunj Sarna, bring it on."

Omg this is so good , you are seriously an excellent writer ! These two are so ridiculous , who even makes a pact like that 😆 I'm looking forward to seeing how Twinkle's dream comes into play , it has definitely intrigued me. Looking forward to the next ! x

Loving the regular updates! Guessing this was more of a filler chapter, so I'm waiting for the plot to actually unravel :D
