I'm not a skilled writer but I had a burst of inspiration so here's an one shot. I'm not sure how to continue it. I have an idea but we'll see. Let me know what you all think :) --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
It was five in the morning when Kunj returned home. He had expected his wife to be sleeping. She was. However, contrary to what he thought, she was not comfortably sprawled on the bed as always; she was huddled into a corner on the sofa. The window was wide open causing the cold air to infiltrate the room. He saw Twinkle shiver a bit and scrunch her face in discomfort. Immediately, he went to cover her with the shawl. I should probably wake her up. She isn't used to sleeping on the couch. Kunj reached out to tap Twinkle awake. As her eyes opened, flashbacks of their brutal argument waved over him like the tides at the beach. God, it hurt so much to hear that she thought he would actually...Leave it Kunj, he told himself.
"Kunj," Twinkle exclaimed as she rushed to hug him. Kunj swallowed. She thought I would take advantage of her. With almost Herculean effort, he closed his hands around her arms and pushed her away to prevent her from embracing him. The hurt he saw in Twinkle's eyes nearly tore him apart. She doesn't trust you. She doesn't trust you. She doesn't trust you, he repeated to himself.
"Kunj, please, I am so sorry for what I said. I didn't know. I know you wou-" Twinkle began to speak in her typical mile a minute manner. Kunj sighed. There was so much running through his mind. He couldn't have this conversation right now.
"Twinkle, leave it alone. It's fine. I'm sensitive, I get hurt too easily. It's not your fault so go to sleep," Kunj stated. His eyes were empty and it scared Twinkle. It terrified her to see her Kunj like this. It's all my fault. My stupid, big mouth. She thought. She tried to apologize again but Kunj wouldn't have it. As unhappy as she was to go to bed without resolving their fight, she decided to comply. The least I can do is listen to him, Twinkle thought.
For the next few days, Twinkle tried, desperately, to apologize, to fix things. Kung wouldn't budge. She missed her Kunj so much- his jokes, his laughter. Twinkle cursed herself for bringing the Farmhouse night back into their life. It was in the past, why, why did my stupid self think it was necessary to bring it up? It's okay. If my words can not my express my regret, my actions will. With that resolve, she focused on fixing herself- learning to be more mature, to be less talkative, to learn more cooking. Twinkle hoped and prayed Kunj would see that she was sorry, that their marriage did have a future. And he did.
It was not often that his Siyappa Queen was quiet. He used to think he would like the silence. But, today proved otherwise. Since the morning, despite his multitudes of attempts to provoke her typically spitfire reactions, Twinkle had been oddly unspeaking. And now that Kunj had quiet environment he was accustomed; he found himself disliking it, searching for ways to end it. The last few days had been rough on him. He couldn't get Twinkle's accusations out of his mind. How could she think I would do that? After this long, why is she still not able to trust me?...
