"Kunj I am thinking of doing a job"
"Why do you need anything? Have I failed to provide you everything? Kunj asked
"No that's not the point. I get bored in the house you go to College and I have a lot of free time so why not utilize it."
"Ok do what you want" Kunj said
Shortly after Twinkle started applying for jobs. She got one at a fashion magazine. She had the credentials she was Miss Amritsar after all. Soon she started working. Working for a magazine meant that you had to cooperate with your colleagues on a few projects. In the weeks she had started working there she was often paired with a guy called Yash. He was a fun loving guy with a really good sense of humor. Twinkle and Yash became good friends. They used to talk often discussing cases.
"Hey woh Twinkle hain na" Maya pointed towards another table. Kunj and Maya and their other friends had come to a cafe after college for coffee and some snacks.
Kunj looked at where Maya was pointing sure enough he saw his wife wearing her usual business attire normally western sitting really close to a guy. She and the guy were looking at something on an iPad and were engrossed in each other. It seemed like the guy had said something funny as Twinkle started laughing. Kunj was surprised to feel his blood boiling at the sight of Twinkle laughing with someone else. Who was this guy?
Kunj walked up to them.
"Twinkle?"
"Kunj what a pleasant surprise. Meet Yash humaray office ka sab seh talented employee. Yash this is my husband Kunj"
"Hi nice to meet you app ki biwi ko toh shok hain uhi tareef karnay ka. I must say you are really lucky your wife is really smart" Yash said
"Thank you. I know so are you guys working on something?"
"Yeah we were working on this case come join us for lunch" Twinkle suggested
"Sorry I am here with my friends some other time see you at home. Take care Yash" Kunj said and walked away.
The entire time Kunj was focused on Yash and Twinkle her every gesture every nuance irked him. He had even ignored his food in the process. Not being able to take it any longer Kunj excused himself and went home. He went to his room but there was no Twinkle to greet him or berate him for coming late. He smiled when he remembered how she had admonished him for coming late for lodhi. She had asserted that she was his wife. The truth was that he missed her. He missed her nagging and nok jhok. Now Twinkle either used to be busy in work or was always on the phone.
A few hours later she returned she put her purse on the side table.
"Did you have dinner?" Twinkle asked
"No I was waiting for you"
"Oh sorry I already ate Yash ordered some Chinese food it was so good we should go some time" Twinkle said
"We can if you have time that is but nowadays you are really busy"
"What are you trying to say Kunj?" Twinkle asked confused
"Forget it Twinkle I am going to have dinner"
"I can warm it up for you" Twinkle offered
"No I will manage"
"Okay" Twinkle said
She decided to tell him after he returned.
" I am going to Manali tomorrow for two days their is a fashion show there" Twinkle informed him
"You are telling me now"
"Kunj the trip was not pre planned I can decline if you want"
"No don't do that."
"Okay " Twinkle asked
"Good night Twinkle"
Kunj closed his eyes but didn't fall asleep. He felt that his wife was drifting further and further away from him. He wanted to fix things but he didn't know how.
When he got up in the morning Twinkle had already left. He sighed he had gotten accustomed to Twinkle waking him up and scolded him for wasting alot of time. He wish he could roll back time. At college during his break he called her but she didn't pick up. He tried again in the evening but still no response. Finally around 10 she picked up.
"Twinkle kaha thi tu kab seh phone try kar raha hun"
"Is this Kunj speaking" someone said
"Yes. Yash why do you have Twinkle's phone?" Kunj asked worried.
"Twinkle is in the hospital she had a minor accident. She has a concussion and broke her arm"
"Kya woh theek toh hain na? Why wasn't I informed before? " kunj asked angrily.
"When she was conscious she asked me not to tell you. She said you will get worried and you need to focus on your studies"
"Which hospital is she in?" Kunj asked
"Mid city"
"Thank you" kunj said and hanged up. He immediately called his travel agent and booked the earliest possible flight to Manali. He threw a few necessities in his duffle bag and made his way to the airport. Once he reached there he rushed to the hospital.
Twinkle was unconscious. She looked so frail and weak lying on the hospital bed.
"Oye siyapa queen tu siypay kartay huay achi lagti hain aisay chup chup nahi. Kitnay mazay seh soh rahi ho meri neendh udha kar" kunj said to her. He dragged the chair near her bed took her hand in his hand. Resting his head on her hand he fell a sleep.
Everything was hazy when Twinkle regained consciousness. She could feel a heavy weight on both of her hands. One of them was plastered but the other one. As far as sge remembered she only broke one arm. She tried to move. Her movement disturbed Kunj and he jolted awake.
"Dheere say dard hoga itna mat move Karo"
"Kunj tum Yahan? "
"Hah mujhay Yash nay inform kiya. Main nay tear kia beghara hain Twinkle"
"Kuch bhi nahi" she said
"Toh phir kyun tu meri jaan lenay par tuli hain. Apna dehan rekha kar agar tujhay kuch ho jata toh main toh mar.."
"Kunj chup karo fazul baatien na karo" Twinkle said
"Main mar jata kyun kay main nay tujhay yay nahi bataya kay tera kisi aur larky say baat karna uss kay saath hasna kitna buda lagta hain kyun main tum say pyar karta hun"
"Very funny"
"You think I am joking" he asked
"Obviously"
Kunj leaned in and kissed her on her lips.
"Still think I am joking? "
