Why did God make relationships perhaps He did to fill the void in our lives. To reassure us that we are not alone. We so many different definitions of relationships in books, movies and dramas that these portrayals tend to stick in our heads. We think every relationship is supposed to be perfect. The concept of a happy family is often projected on screen but in real life rarely are relationships perfect. Real relationships are messy and emotional. They are not perfect they are unpredictable. Sometimes the people closet to you hurt you in unimaginable ways. In her life Swara had always yearned for a perfect family. She had grown up without a father under her mother and grandmother's care. She had often looked at other people's family at school and felt like something was missing in her life. So when she found out that she had a half sister she was elated. She finally had a sibling someone who was her on family. So she gave her all to the relationship she was willing to sacrifice anything for Ragini. When she found out she also had a father without judging him for not being in her life she wholeheartedly worked with her sister to unite her parents. She never accused them for ignoring her for most of their lives. Then she got engaged to a Marwari guy called Laksh. She wasn't sure if she was in love with him but he also offered her the chance to be part of a family something she always wanted. Never in her wildest dreams she could imagine that her own sister would betray her on her wedding day and attempt to kill her for Laksh. She had never believed in the concept of everything is fair in love and war as her idea of love was not destructive. When her sister pushed her into the river the only pain she felt was caused by her sister's betrayal. Everyone believed that she had ran away from her wedding her own father refused to believe her and broke his relationship with her mother. She had worked so hard to build her family only to see it shattering in front of her eyes. During this time, she felt solace in only one person Sanskar. Sanskar had been presumed dead for five years but he came back to take revenge from his family. Swara told him that getting revenge would not give him peace. He accepted his mistakes in front of his family but they kicked him out. He was aware of Ragini's nefarious plan and rushed to save Swara. Swara could not bear to see her family broken up she vowed to reunite her parents and Sanskar promised her that he would help her. When no one trusted them they trusted each other thus their bond strengthened. They faced numerous difficulties but were successful in the end in resolving all the problems. Than Sanskar realized that in their quest to save relationships he had lost his heart to Swara. He confessed his love for her but she did not reciprocate as she was afraid of loving someone. However later she realized her love for him. Now life again had thrown them a curveball where their own family has abandoned them. Twice she had worked hard to preserve her family and now for the third time she had to take the initiative but the truth was she was tired. Tired of proving her and her husband's innocence so she resorted to desperate measures to fix her broken family. She knew that pointing a gun at her head was foolish but at that time she didn't think she just reacted. Every strong person has a breaking point and she felt that she had surpassed that. In addition to this her own husband had threatened her. He had asked her to broke all contacts with his family as Laksh his cousin brother had insulted his mother. Sanskar was a rational man who rarely let his emotions dictate but Laksh had crossed a line. He also knew his wife really well she would do anything to restore everything back to normal so he just said that he would kill himself if she tried to do anything. He was hoping that for once she would choose him.
It was a mistake," you said. But the cruel thing was, it felt like the mistake was mine, for trusting you.
David Levithan, The Lover's Dictionary
It was the eve of yet another day at the Maheswari house. Relationships had finally been restored to their original position. Everyone was rejoicing except for one person who was silently packing his bags. It was time he left this god forsaken place forever. This place had given him happiness but at the same time it had given him unimaginable amount of pain. He wanted to leave quickly without creating a scene. He hoped she would be too busy to notice. He didn't have the strength to face her not after she had broken her promise.
He was zipping his suitcase up when she walked into their room.
"Sanskar where did you disappear off too" Swara said without noticing that bag near the sofa and his empty wardrobe.
She waited for his response but then she looked around the room. Sanskar could pinpoint exactly when she noticed the bag and knew he was leaving. Her smile dropped.
"So now you finally remembered me. Why don't you just leave me alone and go spend some time with your so called family" He said
"How many times do I have to tell you that they are your family too" She said
"There are not my family Swara. Families are supposed to nurture and cherish you. Not to label you as 'Ghada khoon' or to insult your mother" He roared in anger
"Sanskar please try to understand. Nobody meant what they said. They are willing to apologize for it" She told him
"Apologize so that the next time something happens they can again insult me. They can again throw me out as one removes a fly from a bowl of milk. No thank you I have had enough." He said
"So that's why you are leaving?"
"No I am disappointed with everyone especially with you. I stopped you from doing this didn't I. You just don't care about me anymore maybe because I am not Shomi, Baba or Maa. Tell me Swara where do I fit into your life?" He asked
"Sanskar I was torn between my duty as a wife and a daughter in law"
"In the end you didn't choose me. I have always stood by you but the one time I asked for your support you ignored me" He said
"Listen to me please" She said but he interrupted her in the middle.
"Why should I listen to you when you didn't listen to me. You wanted to mend all broken relationships. Congratulations Swara you completed your mission par iss ki tumay bohot badhi qeemat chukani padi gi. Yaad hain main nay kia kaha tha"
"Sanskar are you insane I won't let you kill yourself"
"Don't worry I won't kill myself but I can't stay here anymore. I am leaving forever. I am freeing us from this unwanted relationship. You won't get to see me again forever so in a way I would be dead for you" He said while picking up the bag in his hand.
"Sanskar please stay. I love you" She had tears in her eyes now. She outstretched her hand to stop him but he jerked it away.
"That's not enough anymore plus you showed that you don't love me anymore" He said
She mustered the courage to ask him one last question.
"Meray beghair rahay lo gay?"
"Tumharay yaadon kay saath rahay sakta hu par abb tumhra saath nahi rahay sakta" He looked at her for one last time and left. He didn't look back if he would have Sanskar would have seen a girl who entire life had fallen apart. After some time, she realized that it wasn't dome cruel joke he had actually left. She furiously wiped away her tears.
"Humray pyaar say kab tak or kaha tak bhago gay. I will bring you back after all I defied death once to come back to you." She vowed.
