To my dearest friends and readers 🤗

Below is the Epilogue and with it, the ending in earnest of the Dark Knight saga. I am rather emotional at the moment so I intend to do a full fledged dedications and thank you post with my detailed thoughts this weekend but I didn't want to delay posting this. I am rather stupidly actually tearful for some reason so I will keep this short. I have to go out later but will anxiously await feedback. It is probably too long for an Epilogue but I hope you will all forgive me that and any other disappointments I caused along the way, or any errors made. The love has been overwhelming but more of that in the post to follow. For now, here you all go!

ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS & DEDICATIONS

My dearest DK family 🤗

It is that time! I have almost childishly avoided this as it gives almost the real ending to DK and a part of me has been clinging on the last vestiges. But it needs to be done and it is high time I thanked you all and made mention of some too. Below is a post sharing some overall experiences in case anyone even cares or is interested but this one is for those special people who made the journey worthwhile for my Dark Knight and for me personally 😃

Almost to the day, 5 months ago, I posted by Prologue to Dark Knight. I had been mulling over the concept for some time and I remember that I discussed it in the very first instance with Shruti (Lannister) who since then had to play part of my literal sounding board for all of it! I then mentioned the idea rather nervously to Shruti (Lanny), Nitz (Nityah- Night Dragon), Anna and Yukhti (Fairy Dust) and a HUGE thanks to all these fab ladies for they truly made me feel that this was worthy to be written and shared. From the first super quick Res as soon as my Prologue was posted to endless times they kept me going- they saw the very first germinating beginning so huge thanks to you all girls and a real heartfelt gratitude for what you did for me 🤗.

Lanny- you truly were a star to me and I will never forget the endless hours you spent with me discussing often totally minute plot details and getting so excited about scenes it truly kept me going. I cannot thank you enough but I hope you know how much I value your input and opinions. Oh and a real bow to you for always keeping the suspense for me despite me having totally spoilt it for you as you knew it all 😆😆. Grateful to you for the serious help with DK always- 😃

Nitzy- can I love you more? You made me the banner that I still stare at endlessly and it is so beautiful a serious applause for your incredible talent. You and Lanny and Yukthi having spent all that time on that was truly so humbling, I am touched more than words can say 😳.

A massive mention to those too that literally stayed with the DK journey throughout and never missed a chapter and commented consistently and with so much love and such perspicacious attention on each and every aspect of the story and characters. The list is indeed long and I am so so sorry if I miss individual names out but you do know who you are and I hope my replies always showed how grateful I was for your opinions and views. It wouldn't be right here not to mention the following:

Sree, Viji, Priya, Talia, Saku, Nita, Kawal, Lucky, Sumi, Vrinda, Simi, Shamina, Niti, Sakshi, Nyna, Sonu, Sadhana and Vini.

Some like Sree, Priya and Viji especially not only sent me such detailed comments but also had wonderful exchanges with me over PMs/ scraps. Ladies- you are such a part of this, I know you don't like being thanked but I wanted to acknowledge what I felt 😳.

Nyna- I know I caused you much trauma as you confessed later that you you are on those that needs to know what is to happen next so I can imagine what this did to you 😆 but your involvement was still constant and so was the love and I especially loved those wonderful emos and quotes!

There were others like Shivani, Tas, Pic, Riya, Saji, Jess, Rashi and some more too who whenever they commented put such detail into what they read and expressed so much by snatching time and letting me know they were liking the story, it was so touching to read.

Then there were those who may not have always been able to post detailed comments but did let me know whenever they could which meant more than I can say so thank you Naina, (Princess)Mansi, Nalini, Niyati, Sapna, Javeria, Manu, Ray, Asmita, Aheli, Mukta, Chandana, Sujay, Indrani, Pubi, Uma, Geet, Sanya, Ami, Sana, Megha, Faru, Anu, Sapu, Saba, Prerana, Shaheenq, Sagarika and Krishna.

Some of you also helped me by chasing me for updates which honestly motivated me many times to get on with it and keep posting even if it was at 3 am! Special mention here to Leki and Manu 😆🤗 . Leki- thanks for telling me I managed to change your mind about reading and liking DK despite your initial hesitation about it being a historical fiction 😳.

I also recall Mystic and Sneha who literally never forgot to drop me their brief but consistent feedback after each and every chapter- thank you girls for reading it all and never forgetting to drop your comment in 😃.

Also I "discovered" some amazing silent readers and also "new" who got in touch at certain stages in the story OR almost towards the end broke their silence and how! Your comments made me so glad and I was so happy to read what you felt- thanks for taking the time and sharing. I must mention Harshada, Swathi, Piya, Geetha, Akshata, Aparna, Saba, Saumya, Maya, Helee, Soundharya, Kaveetha, Veena, Wynn and Megha.

I am sure that I may still have missed people off but please understand that it is not intentional and whilst I do have a good memory, it is not quite photographic like Sanskaar in Dark Knight 😆. The point is, each comment that came in, I read and loved. Some I have read multiple times and continue to do so now that the story is ended. I will finish individual replies too no matter how long it takes.

Once more, to EACH and EVERYONE of you wonderful, amazing people- I am so humbled by your responses and I truly value the time you took to read and be part of this with me. I will always treasure it so thank you and stay blessed always.

Chapter 26:

It is such a mixed feeling really! On one hand I want DK to end so I know just how it ends & SwaSan can unite forever but then that would mean I don't get more of SwaSan after that Why must every good thing come to an end?😭

Anyways, it will end when it will end. But let me enjoy it till then with SwaSan, Pawan, Veer & Varun

Aww my Veer definitely adds to the 'hero' like look & stance of Sanskaar. Horse & rider are made for each other😳 Veer is as much a part of what makes Sanskaar a Prince

So Swara couldn't resist peeking huh😆 Why even try Princess! So she is proud of her Prince & her pride in his feat makes him smile ear to ear😃 Oh so only Kings & their heirs light the torch... so does that mean DP has chosen his heir & it isn't his own sons😈

What is Shekharji & Lakshji's problem. Its like as soon as a little spark is seen in the dim bulbs which are their brains they go & smash the fuse box😲 So Shekhar thought he should demand Sanskaar marry Swara...but thought maybe not? WHY??!!

I hadn't been much satisfied with DP's apology but if he is repeating it in public...that is good👍🏼 It takes real courage for a man in his position to publicly accept he was in the wrong & then ask for forgiveness👏 Yayy so even Sanskaar's army received some well earned awards Oh and my boy Pawan 🥳 A minor Saamwant. So next time Swara calls him Lord Pawan she wont be wrong!!! I am so proud of him XXX I am sure this time there was another little princess rejoicing upstairs😉

Shru you are so cruel When DP summoned Swara I almost expected he would ask her hand for Sanskaar But thike chalo let Sanskaar do everything the right way. No shortcuts or easy way out this time😳 The public is so happy to see Swara honoured. And then her mothers & father think Swara brought shame to them. Pichle 7 pushto mein kabhi itna maan mila tha kya kabhi kisi Gadodia ko🥱 Ragini behna dying of jealousy😈 BURN!!!

Janaki is so smart & protective of Swara to allow her to escape from the witches of Maheshpur😊

I loved how Sanskaar told AP everything plain & clear. No confusing words, no drawn out explanations. Nothing. To the point & very effective. Watch & learn Swara 😎 So now both of them have told their mothers what is in their hearts. And these aren't just mothers they are QUEENS in every sense of the word. I have a lot of faith in them & even more so in Sanskaar. If he sees this as a battle more important than the upcoming one at Baadigunj, RanjitJI better have come well armed to Maheshpur😊

Sorry for the delayed unresing. Been a bit busy, but since we have already discussed this through the PM I'll copy paste it here.

I won't say that I'm sad with the turn of events in this chapter as with DK nothing goes the easy way. You always choose the way filled with stones and thrones for them for reasons unknown to me. But I must say maybe that's what is keeping me hooked on to this one.

So coming to the beginning the scene of Sanskar on Veer lighting the torch was just spectacular. The only thing he wanted at that moment was to see his princess and as usual she was proud of his achievement.

The torch was last lit by DP is this a hint to who will rule next or is it that he inherited more of his Bade Baba Sa's qualities?

DP's public apology was worth it. Sanskar deserved this one more. Pawan has been raised to a new rank thats nice. Now he is also a mini Saamvant.👏 Uttara must be over the stars and clouds hearing this. Swara was also acknowledged here as a true Rajput princess who saved their beloved Hero and herself from that 🤬. Sujatha had to be ashamed of her actions here. Because of her the small chance her son had to finally win his love is lost (But as we know Sanskar will not accept defeat, he will either make her open the windows or break the door. No way she can escape from him now that he knows that she also feels something for him - not love but something is better than nothing right)

Janki again proved to be a true diplomat and queen. I would support her decision to get Swara married to anyone other than Sanskar as Sujatha has clearly said that she will not accept this relation. No mother would want to push her child into fire knowing what awaits there.

Can someone please inform the Gadodias that he has offered and was rejected by their own special child as she didn't want him to put things right.😡 He shouldn't have asked her first. He should have asked her father directly. Foolish girl is spoiling everything the guy is working hard for.

Ranjit - add me to the haters list. I hate him even if he is an angel. How dare he want to marry Sanskar's Swara? 😡 Lets bring Kavya and get him married to her instead.

Uttara trying hard to escape from her mother, who is busy exibitting her to the prospective groom's parents. Poor thing. And Sanskar doesn't understand she is not just signalling him but also they guy who is standing next to him - Her Pawan😳 . No wonder he wants to run away if she keeps staring questions are bound to be asked and for a guy who has sworn to not fall in love it would be

🤗🤗 this is for the window. Loved it and you for giving me one that too now. I loved his concern and even more understood that she wanted to be in his arms and gently took her in as if trying to look around. Loved it

Finally madam has confessed to at least Janki maa that she is in love with him and she can't be with anyone else other than him. Good for her. But I don't want her to decide to sacrifice her love for clearing her family reputation or burden. Please.

Sanskar has also informed AP regarding his intentions to marry her. Though now its escalated to a big problem as her father had already given his word to that "Ranjit" guy. I hate him. I'm sure this time my prince will put up a big fight to win his love.

Awaiting 27 and I'm sure this will bring more surprises. The question is where they will be good surprises or bad. Waiting and watching is my option so I'm going to do that. I'm extremely happy with 26.

Hey hun! I'm so annoying na? I know!! But you ARE SERIOUSLY THE BEST! Thank you thank you thank you so much for this!! DP is really giving him so much honours and his trying to rectify all mistakes that he has committed. Finally Sanskaar is getting all that he deserves and even Swara! After all she is a hero!

Aw..my Sanskaar!! He is sooo amazing!! Such a warrior man! Always perfect and flawless<3 Great. But love will always interfere! All these rituals mattered to him only when Swara feels happy. And Swara, also! However she tries to hide away she can't resist when it comes to Sanskaar and his honour! Among everybody, Sanskaar's eyes find only Swara's where he only finds pride and love!

That momentary yet beautiful eye-lock was a treat!! This and all the efforts that DP made to make all good back again were so pleasing!! Just loved them. Thanks for giving me this! I was quite angry with DP but this makes me pity the old man!! Good, I'll be able to forgive him! When Swara was honoured, Sanskaar's face shown, just like Swara's had! Just loved it. But it was more like the calm before the storm!!

Sanskaar was so anxiously waiting to have a glimpse of Swara and there that idiot was shying!! Uhho..couldn't she have told Shekhar that yeah Baba! Prince Sanskaar asked me to marry him. But no...Buddhu Ladki! The moment I read this man's name and his convo with Janaki, I was sure that he's gonna propose Swara for marriage!! And I was like...Uhho! Naya Natak! But you sorted it all very well in chapter 27!

Oh My Sanskaar! The moment he heard Swara is ill! He wanted to and he did rush to see her! Aw..Prince coming from the window to meet her!! How sweet<3 Just loved it. How Swara wanted to hug him and how he wanted to make her understand everything..well I just loved it man! Such emotions, such feels! Oh God!! My babies are the best<3 That slight squeeze as a sign of reassurance was such a sweet gesture by Sanskaar! I use the words-sweet and amazing too much na? Well then bear wimme! I hope I don't bore ya!

Poor Swara!! Such excruciating pain being inflicted upon her heart! Damn, poor princess. But seriously, if she wants why can't she remain unmarried? Those are my future plans too ;p But the thought of marrying a man, double her age also having a son, isn't it more shameful? Actually a person starts to feel unwanted in such conditions!! Poor Swara. She was soo ill and Janaki made her more! Ugh

Sanskaar's deep blue tunic😉 I love this blue blue so much damn!! Sanskaar in deep blue is sooo lucky for us! This is Sanskaar! Blunt and straightforward. And Annapurna was the best person to tell this too I agree! My both babies are in such pain! This time my sadism really goes to hell and I actually feel bad! But chapter 27 is hella amazing!! I tried to reason with it - it is only a story and the end will be a happy SwaSan-licious one and got beaten to an inch of my sanity. Nyna has also spent a couple of sleepless nights on this account. I will attempt to get her heart to see some reason and then we will completely unres.

And onto Chapter 26 - INFERNO - truly a burning chapter (my heart is still smoking slightly😡)

"The path to paradise begins in hell" (Dante Alighieri) that was the what the ending portrayed - as Sanskaar decided to battle for his love on receiving the news that perhaps it was a little too late for him and Swara. Not that he thinks that way - for he is a man who would prove true the saying " A man who has not passed through the inferno of his passions had never overcome them" (Carl Jung) - Battles forecast! But then I am getting ahead of myself and so will start from the beginning.

The opening scene was mindblowing- in sheer majesty of settings and the underlying messages it carried: the assured warrior and finest archer who is almost casual about his abilities and lights the fire on the first try; his seeking of Swara's pleasure being the only reward he sought, the symbolism that lighting of the torch was only reserved for those who were or would be king (does this portend a future declaration of Sanskaar as King or is it a mere coincidence???)

Durga Prasad had been determined that Sanskaar has the honour of lighting the torch in the light of his achievements irrespective of what everyone else would read into his actions. The interaction between him and Sanskaar; Sanskaar accepting the former's public apology gracefully but quickly so as not to protract it and actually rejoicing when his army of men were elevated to an elite status. Truly a mark of a man - to be happy and proud when due recognition is awarded to those whom he considers his own.

It was also commendable on Durga Prasad's part to elevate Pawan to a minor Saamvant status, which by official mandate did make him a lord (this might ease at least a couple of hurdles in his unacknowledged and yet uncommenced relationship with Uttara?).

But the final act of publicly acknowledging Swara - that was the highlight of the event - and the numerous emotions it evoked - Swara was stunned, Sanskaar beaming with joy, Shekhar relieved, and then the women folk - flabergasted. But somehow, I cannot help thinking that his public commendation of Swara was the what started off the chain of the subsequent events - if he had not brought such open public notice of Swara in such a fashion then maybe she might not have caught the fancy of Saamvant Ranjit

I agree that keeping in view the time period in which the tale is set, a match from Saamvant Ranjit, despite being a widower with a child and much older than Swara, would be considered desirable by most. Even Janaki, to whom finally Swara confess that she is love with Sanskaar, advocated the match (despite admitting that they had been attempting an alliance between him and her sister, Urvashi); it is saddening but so true of those times (and in some instances even in the current times).

But then I take heart from the fact that Janaki has assured her that she will not be forced and all is not lost.

Sanskaar has also confessed his love for Swara to Annapurna, and surprisingly her reaction and pain are similar to Janaki- both are pained at their inability to help their beloved children as they are effectively tied down by the dictates of society; both of them admit their helplessness and while sympathising with Sanskaar / Swara's impossible love, caution them to tread with care. So while Swara sinks into further helplessness, Sanskaar prepares for a battle that would be bigger than any he has or would fight; the battle for his love and life.

Looking forward to the battle!

Finally thank you for the scene where Sanskaar climbs through the window to meet Swara - though it was fraught with tension of unspoken confessions (I felt like screaming - how long does it take to say "I Love you, you idiots' but then I guess it is easier said than done, especially if the one speaking is a non-existent character in the tale 😉) and softly expressed concerns amidst fear of being caught together, it was a dreamy scene.

Hey Sakkiyah dear! How are you? My health is better, slowly improving but the pain is still pretty bad. I just try not to focus on it too much but it has slowed me down with so many things . I am so happy you think the update is good! Talk to you soon!

My network was interrupted. I didn't complete my view.

The update was awesome. Really heart touching one.

I felt bad for both swara and sanskar.

The beginning was beautiful. The auditorium sequence was well written. Sanskar a good warrior. The flames shot up sequence was well written. The audience were excited to see that sequence. The return entry of sanskar as a prince is a happy news for the people in his country.

Swara was sitting behind her mother's.

She wanted to watch his performance. Her heart was still beating for him.

She can't control her excitement,

In this performance also sanskar was searching his lady love, he only wanted to see her smile. He was searching it and at last his eyes got its destination.

He was really happy after seeing her. Swara was also happy. They shared a passionate eye lock. They were lost in each other. Janaki, sharmista, Annapurna, and sujatha were witnessed this. Swara's thoughts were broken.

Durgaprasad praised sanskar for his brilliance, and he gave him all the powers back. He praised Pawan and swara. Swara was happy after hearing this.

But her happiness was short lived.

The family were discussing about swara's wedding.

But they were confused about this.

The real truth was, when swara was praised some one was faking their happiness.

Janaki was saying about swara's wedding and she was not interested in that topic.

In the palace sanskar was waiting to watch swara once.

He witnessed the conversation between janaki and ranjit.

Sanskar was searching swara in the dinner. But from janaki he hears that swara was sick.

So he immediately reached swara's chamber to meet her.

He was worried for her. Swara was surprised to see him.

He asked about her health. At that time janaki came to there

And she saw him

She didn't questioned her. But she informed her about wedding. It was fixed with ranjit.

Swara was shattered after hearing this. Her world was lost.

She was not ready for this marriage. She was in love with sanskar. She confessed her love in front of janaki ma.

And at last sanskar also confessed his love for swara to

Annapurna. After hearing Swara's wedding was fixed with ranjit sanskar was shattered..

He wanted to stop that wedding. But he was helpless.

The update was filled with tears.

The condition of swasan is really painful. They love each other. But the circumstances are not favorable.

I think the character of janaki is grey shaded. It is my guess.

In the beginning of the story janaki always supported swara. But while reading this update, I think the love was fake.

Because she slapped ragini after the accusations of sanskar and saved her. Today she arranged a alliance for swara. He is a family friend of janaki.

When swara will marry ranjit, then the life of ragini will be safe. In annapurna's decision also, it was mentioned about the relationship between the sisters.

But how shekhar support this? I have no idea about this.

I think for reputation he is doing this.

But the condition of swara is really bad. She can't confess her love.

And the marriage alliance will be a new torture for her.

He is too old. And she can't love him. She gave her heart to sanskar. It is true that she can't marry him, and she can't forget him.

Swara is a good soul.. She only knew to love.

But she was betrayed by her own sister.

She was a victim of her sisters plan.

But she was named characterless. She is totally shattered. She is a volcano now.

She has no voice.

And sanskar's condition is also same. After years he got his family. He proved his innocence. And he loves some one unconditionally. But he is helpless.

The dilemma is painful.

And sujatha is also against the marriage. So many new hurdles are on the way.

And sanskar is going to a dangerous mission.

And swara is worried for him.

What will happen next?

Hey Shruti!! Hopefully your pain has subsided by now.. If not then m sure it will pretty soon..🤗 Back to 26, oh god!! I'm actually pained at the turn of events.. Why is it so difficult!!😭😭 It started out with such CUTE exchanges between SwaSan.. Her being proud of him, him smiling only after getting her approving reaction, the bestowal of honour on him n his men and of Swara too... But then those terrible females and their gossip🤢 And then the Samvant😡😡 Its actually worse coz he may be a good guy, but expecting a 20 something to marry his 40yr old self means that even he agrees that Swara doesn't deserve a better match!! Where's the respect then?? Idiot kahinka!!😡😡 I know this was how things were back then, but it still drives me hopping mad!! And m so glad Swara outright refused to such nonsense... Please please please don't make Swara agree to any kind of sacrifice.. Or if u do then pls get the torture over with quickly *puppy dog eyed* please!! Coz u write sooo well that m bound to cry if i read it.. A small glimmer of hope with Sanskar preparing for 'battle'.. Hanging on to it..😃. Oh and that small bit of Pawan runnin away from Uttara.. Classic😆😆
