I am back with the next update..But please forgive me, I am updating without replying to your comments individually, my net connection is really slow..
But I certainly have read all your comments and I want to appreciate them with all my heart..I want to also thank the readers who have pressed the 'like' button for my updates..Love you all for the love and support you all are giving me..🤗

PART 3

Swara was sitting in her room and was holding a photo frame close to her chest. Her eyes were moist and she was gazing out of the window trying to recollect her childhood memories with her mother. She remembered the way her mother had always took good care of her. Sharmishta used to shower all the affection upon Swara when she was a child. But then, what went wrong between her father Shekhar and her Amma. She just couldn't get the reason behind their split up. She had tried a lot in the past to get an answer from her father. But he always avoided such questions and tried to make her more close to his new wife, Janki.

While she tried to delve deeper into the past, a hand on her shoulder brought her back to the present. She quickly wiped her tears away and looked at its owner. It was Annapurna, Sanskaar's mother.
Sw: (smiles) Aunty.

Annapurna realized that she was upset about something and her instincts told that she might be missing her own mother. She inwardly scolded her son for doing this to Chinnu.

An: Chinnu... Come, let us have lunch.. I don't know much about your tastes. You know, you are from Mumbai and all...And I only know to make Kerala style dishes...I hope you like it.

Sw: (grins widely) No worries, Aunty. I love Kerala food. Till I was eight years, I had only eaten the food made by Amma and still its taste lingers in my mouth. (looks away sadly , then slowly says)You don't know how much I have missed her. (tears fill in her eyes)

Annapurna's eyes also filled with tears and she hugged Swara.

An: Don't worry. You will soon be with her.

Swara smiled abruptly and broke from the hug.

Sw: Aunty. When will she return from her journey..? Is she happy in her life now. (pauses) Errr... I mean, with her new husband. ?

Annapurna got really angry by now at Sanskaar for telling such lies to Swara.

An: Err... Chinnu... When you meet her, you ask yourselves ok... Now come and have your lunch.

Annapurna led Swara to the dining area and she saw Sanskaar, sitting at the table. He usually had lunch from his home itself and then went back to his super market store. Swara pretended as if he didn't exist and she just sat down two seats away from him.

Sanskaar noticed tears in her eyes and he didn't know why, but he felt bad for her immediately. He decided to reveal the truth to her, to tell her that her mother was living next door only and that she was in the wrong house.

Just as he opened his mouth to tell her, Annapurna came in with a dish full of steaming hot rice and served them. The other dishes were sambar, aviyal (kind of mixed vegetables dish), pappadam, mango pickle etc.

Sa: Amma, you made my favourite... aviyal...wow..!

Annapurna smiled at Swara and replied.

An: Chinnu has come here for the first time na... I thought of making something special.

Sanskaar looked at Swara and saw her smiling at Annapurna. But that smile just didn't reach her eyes. Sanskaar knew why and he began to feel really guilty. Swara had started to have her food and now he decided to be nice to her.

Sa: (smiling)Swara... Did you like the food.. ?

Swara looked at him and nodded without a smile. She still couldn't forgive him for the incident in the morning.

Sw: (solemnly) I love all these dishes... My mother used to make all these for me in my childhood...(looks away sadly)

Sanskaar's smile disappeared immediately and then he had his lunch in silence.

After lunch, Swara could not think of anything to do and so she decided to have an afternoon nap. In the evening at 4.30 p.m, Ragini returned from the School and she went to wake up Swara for having tea with them. Both of them began to chat with each other and they got along really well, within a few minutes. Soon, they joined Annapurna for tea.

They sat down together for watching T.V after that. Annapurna and Ragini were the regular viewers of a lot of tele-serials in the Malayalam channels. Swara began to get bored soon and she got up and walked towards the verandah and sat down on the steps. It was cold outside and she embraced herself and smiled sadly. She fondly remembered the way her mother used to hug her close to her chest and the instant warmth which used to seep into her body, almost instantly. She had always missed that warm feeling from her childhood.

The moon cast its glow around the courtyard and she glanced around the surroundings. Suddenly she could hear the sound of an approaching motor bike and she saw that it was Sanskaar coming home.

Sanskaar gazed at her and she merely glanced at him and looked away. He parked his bike and walked up the steps towards her.

Sa: Swara... How was your day... ?
Sw: (without smiling) Why are you trying to be friendly. ? To make fun of me again, huh. ?
Sa: (raised his brows) Well... Sorry for what I did with you in the morning..
Sw: (nods) Hm..It's ok, Sanskaar..

She looked away and Sanskaar noticed her sad expression in the moonlight. He felt a sudden urge to kneel down beside her and hug her close to his chest. But he shrugged his shoulders and walked off brushing away such thoughts, immediately.

Swara got up and walked down the steps into the courtyard. She was just strolling around in the courtyard and a song reached into her ears.

Etho varmukilin kinaavile muthaayi nee vannu.

Ennil etho ormakalaayi nilaavin muthe nee vannu..

Swara felt a sudden surge of happiness and looked around for the source of this song.

It was her mother's favourite lullaby which she used to sing for her when she was a child. The little Chinnu inside Swara ran in the direction from which the faint voice was singing distantly.

She ran along the moonlit lane and crossed the threshold of the neighboring house.

Swara couldn't believe her eyes when she saw her. She stood rooted on the spot and tears were streaming down her happy face.

Sw: Ammaaa..

Sharmishta stopped singing and she looked up abruptly towards the calling voice. She smiled widely with tearful eyes.

Sha: (excitedly)Chinnuu. !!

Sharmishta stood up and spread her arms wide and beckoned her daughter with her eyes. Swara ran straight into her mother's arms and both of them embraced each other snugly. Swara was sobbing uncontrollably and Sharmishta was weeping with a wide smile.

Sw: Ammaaa... I missed you... (sobs)
Sha: (affectionately)Chinnuuu... Shhh... Stop crying... You are with me now..!

Sharmishta's one hand was patting softly upon Swara's back and her other hand caressed her daughter's hair.

Sw: I am so sorry Ammaa... I couldn't stop what Papa did to you... I was so small... And I didn't understand what was happening between my parents..

Sha: I know, Chinnu...Stop crying my dear...

They stood like that for a long time and none of them dared to break the hug. Both of them were feeling the contentment of a lifetime.
Finally, when realization dawned upon Swara, lots of doubts sprang up inside her mind. She opened her eyes and voiced her thoughts.

Sw: Amma... Are you staying here, in this home..?
Sha: Yes, why... ?

Swara broke off from the hug and looked into her mother's innocent face.

Sw: Are you related in any way to the people living over there. ?(indicates Sanskaar's house's direction)

Sha: Annapurna is my childhood friend. That's all... But she has always been a great support for me... And her son Sanskaar is..

The mere mention of his name made Swara's blood boil and she was shivering with indignation now. Sharmishta couldn't complete her sentence, when she saw the transformation in Swara's expression.

Sha: What happened, Chinnu.. ? (touches her shoulder)
Sw: (sighs impatiently) Nothing Ammaa... Let me get my belongings from there... I will be back now.

Saying so, Swara ran back towards Sanskaar's tharavaadu (ancestral house) in super speed. She was fuming in anger and her face was red hot.

She stormed into the living room and Annapurna and Ragini were shocked seeing her condition.

An: (stands up)Chinnu...!
Ra: Swara... What happened. ?

Swara didn't stop to answer them and went straight into the guest room. Her hands were shivering with rage while she packed her things back. Annapurna and Ragini also came into the room after her. But they were too much awestruck to ask her what the problem was.

Swara picked up her luggage and finally looked at Annapurna. Her eyes were red and she spoke to Annapurna with tearful eyes.

Sw: (trying hard to control her anger, speaks slowly) Thanks for everything, Aunty. But I found my Amma at last, in spite of all those lies which you all told me.

And she walked off without a backward glance.

Swara came back to Sharmishta's house and hugged her mother who was waiting for her in the verandah itself. Sharmishta led her inside and took her to her own bedroom. She was really excited to have her daughter back.

Sha: Place your things here in my room. You can sleep with me, in my room.

Swara beamed with delight and she hugged her Amma again.

Sw: Wowww Amma...! I love you... Do you have any idea how much I had missed sleeping by your side...
Sha: I too missed you, my baby... You don't even know how much I missed you...

Meanwhile, Sanskaar was having a splash in the private pond. As he swam in the cool water, Swara's sad face haunted him.

Sanskaar thought. "Swara is not as arrogant as I had thought, she is sweet as well. I should tell her the truth tonight itself.. Poor thing...! She is missing Sharmishta Amma terribly.."

After having his bath, he dried himself with a towel. He quickly changed into a mundu (dhoti) and a black t-shirt.

He walked into the house and Annapurna and Ragini approached him with tensed expressions. Sanskaar couldn't guess what was wrong with them. He frowned and asked Annapurna and Ragini.

Sa: Amma... What happened. ? Ragini, is there any problem. ?

Annapurna grabbed his hand and squeezed it, frantically.
An: Sanskaar, please do something... Chinnu just went off from here.
Sa: (shocked)What do you mean by that.. ?

Ra: Yes Ettaa(means brother), she was all angry and sad. And she was saying that she found her Amma in spite of the lies told by us.

Sa: Oh God... !! Did she ...?! Damn.

An:(angrily) Sanskaar, all this happened because of your stubborn behviour. Poor girl...! She had come here to see her mother...and you...(shakes with grief) you cheated her...!

Sanskaar could feel heat on his face and he ran his fingers along his hair in frustration. But he quickly composed himself after taking a long breath.

Sa: Don't worry... I will take of this mess...
As he turned to go, Annapurna stopped him.
An: Wait, I will also come with you.
Sanskaar turned towards her and held her shoulders consolingly.
Sa: No Amma...You stay here... As you said, its my fault... I want to do this alone.

Sharmishta was busy in her kitchen, preparing some special dishes for Swara. Swara was sitting on the kitchen platform, munching an apple and watching her mother cook. Suddenly the calling bell rang.

Sha: Chinnu, can you just go and see who it is. ?
Sw: Ok Amma.

Swara walked towards the door and opened it. Sanskaar was standing outside the door and Swara's eyes widened in anger.

Sw:(holding the door) What do you want now, Sanskaar. ?
Sa: Look, I am sorry Swara... I didn't mean to...

Swara let out a scornful laugh and glared at him.
Sw: Ohhh... Really Mr. Sanskaar. ?

Sanskaar shut his eyes tightly and took a deep breath. Then he opened his eyes.
Sa: (desperately) I know I lied to you. But I did that just for some fun. Actually I was going to tell you the truth and then take you to your mother tonight itself.

Sw: (seriously)Well... I don't want to believe you again Sanskaar... After all that you have done to me, no one in their right mind would want to forgive you.

Sanskaar took some steps towards her. He was growing restless as he was not used to this kind of treatment, that too from a girl.

Sa: This time I am serious, Swara... Believe me.. Please...
Sw: (pointing her index finger at him) Look, Mister...I have had enough of your nonsense... Now, please leave.

And saying so, she tried to shut the door, but Sanskaar was too quick for her. He grabbed her hand and pulled her towards him, he squeezed her wrist in rage, his finger nails digging into her skin.
Sa: (shouts) I WANT YOU TO LISTEN TO MEEE. .

She was staring at him unbelievably as she tried to wiggle her hand from his grip.

Sw: Leave me... Uff...! You, moron... !!
Sa: (angrily growls) I am sorry, Chinnu... I mean it..!

Sw: (trying to free herself)You are hurting me, Sanskaar. It's really painful.

Tears threatened to fall from her beautiful eyes. Sanskaar realized what he was doing and he left her hand, quickly. He away with a guilty face and murmured slowly "I am sorry ". Swara was rubbing her wrist with both her other hand in order to ease her pain. Tears were streaming down her eyes.

Sw: (furiously) And I am sorry to say this, Sanskaar, that I am not going to forgive you..!

Saying so, she shut the door on his face with a loud noise. Sanskaar hit the wall with his clenched fist and then throwing his face into his hands, he clutched his hair to vent off his frustration.

Swara wiped off her tears and walked towards the kitchen with a false smile plastered on her lips. Sharmishta looked up as she returned.

Sha: Who was it, Chinnu. ?

Sw: (plain face) Amma..No one.

Sha: (innocently) But you took so much time to return.

Sw: I just looked around to see if there was someone.. That is why I took time..

Sanskaar walked back to his house and Annapurna and Ragini were waiting for him in the drawing room itself.

An: Sanskaar..
Ra: Ettaa...

Sanskaar raised his hand at them signaling them to stop, with a tired face.

Sa:(without facing them) I was not able to convince her..Now don't ask me anything else.. Amma, please serve dinner.

Sanskaar was lying on his bed and was shifting around uncomfortably. Flashes of Swara's grief stricken face haunted his conscience. But still his ego was making him believe that she should have listened to him at least once.

Meanwhile, Swara was lying cuddled to her mother and was sleeping like a baby.

Very powerful chapter, Nainu my dear. Well, I am feeling a bit bad for Sanskaar---but my sympathies here lie mostly with Swara. That was really not a nice joke to play, and even if one takes it just as a practical joke, Swara is entitled to feel furious with Sanskaar. The unfortunate part is, because of Sanskaar, Swara might have a wrong idea about Annapurna and Ragini's participation in this silly practical joke as well.

The timing of Swara realizing the truth also was so very coincidental, it was right when Sanskaar was planning to tell her the truth himself. 😕 He had gradually come to realize she wasn't arrogant and domineering as he thought her to be, isn't it? He had come to realize she was a nice person and genuinely missing her mother. All through that day, be it during their brief interaction at lunch, and even in the evening when he came home, he was affected by how sad Swara looked. In fact, he had this momentary urge to hug her tight and take away her pain and worries as well. 😳

But as luck would have it, Swara found out the truth before Sanskaar revealed it was all just a innocent, though misguided trick on his part.

Waiting to see how they make up. I guess Sharmishta might mention to Swara that Sanskaar was the person who saved her from drowning, all those years ago? I hope Swara gives him a chance to explain---Sanskaar does feel sincerely sorry for what he has done, after all. But I also hope he won't let his ego get in the way now. What he did was wrong, and Swara was entitled to react that way.

Eagerly looking forward to the next chapter, dear! And to the next chapter of Zinda Ehti Hai...too!! 😊

we HV green belt in Delhi too but we HV pollution and over population. traffic jam too which irritates lyk hell.

Loved the entire update naina chechi. Felt very bad for swara she was missing her mom and after these many years she came to see her mom. Bt hw cum he lie to her. Even for fun he should not lie like tat na. Bt when seeing her he came to knw tat she cried n he felt guilty for wat he did to her.Nw swara dnt want to talk with him so she lil avoided him. At night she got bored n she came to varandah tat time sanskar came and he told sorry for wat he did in morning. When she heared her amma singing she run towards the direction and see her amma tat part is very emotional chechi.When she came to knw abt sanskar's lie she got very much angry and she left his home in tat anger. Bt wen his mother n ragini told him tat she left he felt more guilty and went to her to convince her. But he can't.

Dear Naina,

Quite an update. So Sanskaar is truly in a mess - he did have misgivings earlier and he should have confessed then, but the delay meant Swara found out the truth. She is quite furious and Sanskaar is angry that she did not give him a chance to explain. That is one royal mess he is in.
