Strangling scene

What i dont get is how did the manja go around the tree?? 😕As in since its a tree how can swara be strangled with the manja wound around it?? Koi swara ke saamne se toh gaya hi nahi, peeche se hi kheecha.. Unless two ppl pulled at the respective ends n tied it around the tree.. 😲
