FIRST DANCE
She could always read Sanskaar's eyes and she knew he was shocked by her behavior. He had no idea how much she had missed him for the past couple of weeks. They had acted out every plan properly to bring Lakshya and Ragini together but somehow it never worked. Instead, Swara found herself admiring Sanskaar more than Lakshya. All her failed plans - made her realize the gem of a person Sanskaar was. She did not know if she loved him - but she was convinced she liked him a lot more than she would ever confess to herself. She had started noticing the small things he did for her every day and her heart would light up as she realised he did it only for her. He never expected anything out of this relationship and yet, after that one outburst, he had been by her side every time she needed him. However, she missed the other things they shared before Ragini's revelation had happened. She missed HER Sanskaar.
When he had touched her today, intimately, and unknowingly, she had felt something in the pit of her stomach. It was a strange feeling but it was there. She wanted him close to her and she knew she had to try now - he had done enough for her already. She had not told him yet - but she was willing to give their relationship a fair chance. She knew this was just the beginning. She was slowly falling in love with her Sanskaar.

He was taken aback when Swara took his arms in his as they descended down the stairs. He looked at her, surprised but she held on to his arms tightly and a smile on her lips as she looked at the people near the stairs. Her eyes gleamed with joy as she saw her mother and father and Sanskaar expected her to leave him and run into their arms. But, Zilch! Nothing. She dragged him with her before running into her mother's arms. He did not know how to react and what had come over Swara to behave with him like this. He was good at feigning his emotions - so he respectfully greeted Swara's parents. He had not been in favor of uniting Sharmishtha with Shekhar - but Swara had wanted it and he could not say no to her. More so, if he had not helped her then how would he have felt this beautiful feeling of being in love with her. Unknown to himself, he started smiling looking at her as she jabbered away endlessly to Sharmishtha. After a little while, Swara dragged him to meet everyone else and even though Sanskaar wanted to stop her - he could not help but be happy about it. This girl is going to make me mad one day.

Soon enough, Durgaprasad greeted everyone officially and called the two new wedded couple near him. Lakshya was wearing Red Sherwani and even from far off he glared at Swara and Sanskaar. He had purposefully asked Swara to wear Red so that they could match - but somehow Ragini wore Red and his outfit matched with Ragini's. He hated to see Swara holding on to Sanskaar so comfortably. How could she hold on to Sanskaar when he was right here offering her all happiness? She loved him once right? She could fall in love with him again. They were meant to be together, he thought. He had noticed the way Sanskaar looked at Swara and he hated it. He could not let that happen could he? Swara belonged to him. He had not seen a point in them being together before and he did not see it now. What did they have that he and Swara did not? He did not understand.
Durgaprasad asked the couples to grace the dance floor. Adarsh took the lead with Parineeta and they both danced shyly. Sanskaar and Swara stood silently watching everyone dance. Swara motioned to Ragini to ask Lakshya for a dance and the latter did so. However, Lakshya ignored her and moved towards him and Swara. Sanskaar's heart started pounding for he did not want Lakshya anywhere close to Swara - at least not today. Sanskaar looked at Swara and saw her clutch his arms tightly. She had seen Lakshya coming towards her and she knew she would not be able to refuse him if he asked her to dance because she would not want to create a scene. Swara saw Ragini's face who was disappointed and then at Lakshya who was making his way to her.
Swara, do you want to dance with me? Sanskaar asked softly in her ear. He saw Swara's hand shiver for a moment before she shyly nodded.
Before Lakshya could reach him and Swara, Sanskaar had taken Swara by her hand and was on the dance floor with her. Just as they stepped onto the song changed. Sanskaar took Swara by her waist as he glanced loving at her and pushed her forward to himself such that there was no distance in between them. Swara blushed and put both her hands behind his neck and looked up at him shyly. He saw her face go red as her eyes met his. The song resonated with both of them. They forgot where they were, whom they were with and held each other close - staring into each other's eyes all the time. When Sanskaar took the lead in the dance, Swara was surprised. She followed him blindly as they claimed the center stage together.
Kuchh Khaas Hai Kuchh Paas Hai, Kuchh Ajanabi Ehsaas Hai
Kuchh Duriyaan Najdikiyaan, Kuchh Hans Padi Tanhaayiyaan
Kya Yeh Khumaar Hai, Kya Aitbaar Hai
Shaayad Yeh Pyaar Hai, Pyaar Hai Shaayad
Kya Yeh Bahaar Hai, Kya Intjaar Hai
Shaayad Yeh Pyaar Hai, Pyaar Hai Shaayad
Kuchh Saanz Hai.., Jaage Se Jo Kal Soye
Alfaaz Hai.., Chup Se Nashe Mein Khoye
Nazar Hi Samjhaaye, Yeh Guftgu Saari..
Koyi Aarju Mein Hai, Angadaayi Pyaari..
Kya Yeh Khumaar Hai, Kya Aitbaar Hai
Shaayad Yeh Pyaar Hai, Pyaar Hai Shaayad
Na Inkaar Hai, Na Ikraar Hai
Shaayad Yeh Pyaar Hai, Pyaar Hai Shaayad
Kehna Hi Kya.., Tera Dakhal Na Koyi
Dil Ko Dikha.., Dil Ki Shakal Ka Koyi
Dil Se Bhi Meri, Ik Shart Yeh Aisi..
Laage Jeet Si Mujhako, Yeh Haar Hai Kaisi..
Kyun Yeh Pukaar Hai, Kyun Bekaraar Hai
Shaayad Yeh Pyaar Hai, Pyaar Hai Shaayad
Jaadu Sawaar Hai, Na Ikhtiyaar Hai
Shaayad Yeh Pyaar Hai, Pyaar Hai Shaayad
Pyaar Hai Shaayad
Kuchh Khaas Hai Kuchh Paas Hai, Kuchh Ajanabi Ehsaas Hai..
Pyaar Hai Shaayad, Pyaar Hai Shaayad, Yahi
When the song ended, Sanskaar had Swara lifted up in his arms. As he brought her down slowly, he saw her face and she was red. Was she blushing? He thought. They stood close looking at each other - completely forgotten about their surroundings and the people. Sanskaar realized Swara was breathing heavily - just like him. Was she affected by the dance just like he was? He lifted a finger to tuck her hair behind her ears and Swara closed her eyes. Sanskaar was in a daze as he lifted his other hand to cup her face when he felt a strong hold on his shoulder. Lakshya!
Suddenly there were the sounds of claps all around them and the lights were back on. Sanskaar and Swara were caught unaware as everyone started clapping for the handsome couple. Swara blushed, but Sanskaar had eyes on Lakshya who still had not left his shoulder and was staring at him in anger.
Bhai! (He removed his hands) I need to speak to you...Now!
Sanskaar nodded. He glanced at Swara who was still blushing and was in the embrace of her mother and Dida. He smiled seeing the happiness on her face. She is happy, he thought. And she is happy with me.
FIRST KISS
Bhai, What are you doing?
Sanskaar looked at Lakshya as he spoke to him in accusatory tone. Sanskaar had no idea what his bratty brother had to say to him now. What did he want from me now? He thought. Lakshya looked upset and in anger. Sanskaar could see the throbbing veins on his forehead - and he chuckled mentally, Lakshya looked constipated. Nevertheless being the caring brother he was, he kept his hand on Lakshya's shoulders lightly.
Kya hua Lucky? What is the problem?
Sanskaar was stunned when Lakshya jerked off his hand from his shoulder. Now what had happened? What had made the pampered prince of the house so angry? Sanskaar thought.
Bhai tum jaante ho na main Swara se kitna pyaar karta hoon and woh mujhse. (Sanskaar's fist tightened and his eyes became alert)...Bhai tum jaante ho na main aur Swara...main aur Swara ek dusre ke liye bane hain...
Tum mujhe ye sab kyun bata rahe ho?
Bhai, tumhari aur Ragini ki wajah se main aur Swara alag hue hain...and ab tum uske itne kareeb. Tum donon ne ye shaadi majboori mein ki thi ye baat mein jaanta hoon par kya tumhe yaad hai? - toh tum iss jhoote rishte ko kyun badha rahe ho? Swara meri hai Bhai...woh mujhse pyaar karti hai...Tumhari galti ki saza main aur Swara alag hoke kyun...'
BAS Lakshya!
Sanskaar closed his eyes as he heard her voice scream out to stop Lakshya. When he opened his eyes, Swara was standing next to him, looking at him with anger in her eyes. She looked at him accusingly and Sanskaar was taken aback. Now why is she angry with me? Maine kuch nahin kiya Swara, his heart pleaded to hers.
Aur tum...!
Sanskaar heard her words accusing him of he did not know what. He merely glanced at Lakshya and saw a smile playing on his lips. Was Swara supporting Lakshya's outburst at him? Did she want to go back to him? Was he fooled again by what she wanted from him? His eyes were threatening to spill tears of hurt, pain and betrayal when she held his hands in hers. Sanskaar was surprised.
Swara...
Aur tum Sanskaar...Lakshya ki toh aadat hogayi hai bakwaas karna. (he saw her look in disgust at Lakshya) tum khade khade kya sunn rahe ho?
Matlab?
Haan Swara maine aisa kya kaha...jo sach hai wahin bataya bhai ko.
Tumse baat kar rahin ho main? Swara shouted at Lakshya. She then turned her attention towards him and looked into his eyes.
Agar woh tumse kuch bhi keh raha hai...toh tum khade hoke sunte rahoge? Usko toh samajh aa nahin raha ki meri shaadi ho chuki hai and main uski bhabhi hoon - tumhe toh ye rishta samajh aa raha hai na Sanskaar? (Swara took a deep breath and left his hands) I am your wife Sanskaar. Jin bhi haalaton mein ye shaadi hui and chahe hum jis bhi reason ki wajah se saath hue hain, I expect ki tum mere baare mein itni bakwaas nahi sunoge. Hum iss shaadi ko chance de rahe hain Sanskaar, ye baat kisi (looking at Lakshya) aur ko samajh aaye na aaye ...tumhe toh samajh aani chahiye.'
Sanskaar had absolutely no idea what Swara was saying. The moment she said I am your wife, Sanskaar could not think of anything else. She was accepting she was his wife? Like sachi muchi mein? Wait a minute! Was she doing this only to push Lakshya away so that he could run to Ragini? He looked into her eyes and only saw honesty in them. But could he believe her? Could he believe that she really wanted to work on this marriage? She really wanted to give his love a chance? He was not sure. With Swara how could he? She always had an agenda on her mind. So should he play along just like he did in all her plans? He had promised her support - so maybe he should.
I am sorry Swara. (Sanskaar turned to Lakshya) Lakshya, Swara is now my wife. We have decided ki hum (he looked at Swara who took his hand in his shocking him further) iss rishte ko chance denge. Swara was in love with you - but ab she is your bhabhi. (Lakshya began to interrupt) Ek minute Lakshya, meri baat abhi khatam nahin hui hai. Swara ne mujhe bataya tha ki tum usse baar baar harass kar rahe ho...abhi tak main chup tha kyunki mujhe laga ki tum baat samajh jaoge. But ab se dhyaan rakhna...Swara and I are together. We are working on this relationship. Tumhe pata hai ki main (he looked at Swara) Swara se pyaar karta hoon...ab jab hum rishte ko chance de rahe hain toh behtar hoga if you can concentrate on your relationship with your wife. Move forward and stop looking behind. Swara has moved on and so should you with Ragini.
Lakshya could not say anything as Durgaprasad and Ragini had showed up but he was not entirely convinced and Sanskaar could see that on his face. Sanskaar also knew that he would not give up easily on Swara. She was his favorite toy and Lakshya always got what he wanted. As Lakshya looked at him and Swara, Sanskaar put a protective arm around Swara and stared him down. He did not know but suddenly he did not feel Lakshya was going to back down - and if he wasn't - this was going to be far tougher than he had assumed. He looked at Swara, who was looking at him with a smile playing on her lips. She nodded at him and left behind all of them. Sanskaar's doubts were confirmed as he realized Swara had not meant a word of what she had said. It was a farce as always. His jaws clenched and his fists tightened and he closed his eyes to absorb the pain. She had played with his feelings again. She had sounded so convincing that he had for once begun to believe the dream she was showing him - of them - together.

The whole evening Sanskaar maintained his distance from Swara and Swara did not like it one bit. She could not understand why all of a sudden, Sanskaar's behavior had changed again. She had just now told him that she was ready to work on this relationship and yet he avoided her like a plague. She fiddled with her food as she remembered when Sanskaar had stood up to Lakshya and confessed his love for her once again. She had blushed unknowingly when he had said the words so passionately. She then remembered their dance. This was the first time she had danced with him and it was magical. She had no idea Sanskaar could dance but he had surprised her and surprised her how. In his arms, she had felt loved and protected. She had felt free and at peace. Her body had reacted to his every touch. What was happening with her? She had never reacted like this to anyone. This feeling was...was not normal. She was smiling to herself when Sujata told her that Sanskaar had left the party without having dinner. Something was up, her mind told her. He was upset about something and she vowed to find out.
When she stepped into the room with Sanskaar's dinner, she saw him standing near the window. He was looking at the moon and even though she knew he had heard her come in - he did not turn around. She kept his dinner on the study table and walked over to him and stood behind him. What was wrong with him now? Was he not happy with her decision? Did he not want this?
Sanskaar
He did not turn around. He did not say a word. She walked over beside him and saw his eyes were closed as he took in the cold wind on his face. Swara stood next to him and admired his face. He looked so calm and peaceful. She had never been someone who went for looks in a man - but Sanskaar was handsome. His raw masculine face, his unshaved beard and his steel jaws - it suddenly made her stomach churn. Without realizing what she was doing, Swara lifted her hand to caress his beard when his hands found hers and he opened his eyes, that were cold and could pierce her soul.
Kya kar rahi ho tum?
Swara did not know how to react to his icy tone. What had happened? Had Lakshya said something? Did she do something? Ragini? Did Ragini say something to Sanskaar? She could feel the heat where Sanskaar's hand held her. He was holding her hand tightly; she was reminded of the day when he had asked her to stay away from him. She used her right hand to free her left hand when Sanskaar caught that too. He was glaring at her - and it was not out of love.
Chodo mujhe Sanskaar. Tumhe kya hua hai?
****
Sanskaar left her hands and closed his eyes again. She would never understand him - she never could. He had been standing there peacefully when he had heard her enter. He had not turned because he was afraid to face her. All the emotions he had bottled up inside had almost come out when he had heard her say, I am your wife, but alas! She was playing him for Ragini and Lakshya. He needed to control himself - his feelings. He had promised himself and her to never force his love upon her - but today he wanted nothing more. After the dance, he had believed her to be happy but she had played him - again.
Tum jao Swara. Neeche sab tumhara wait kar rahe honge. Mujhe kuch der akele rehna hai.
Nahin. Tum mujhe batao hua kya hai Sanskaar. Kya problem hai? Abhi!
He opened his eyes and looked at her. She had a pout and she looked angry. Should he care? Maybe he should let her know what he felt? She needed to realize he could not be taken for granted.
Meri life main sirf ek hi toh problem hai Swara...Tum! He said, calm.
Main...? He heard the shiver in her voice and saw tears brimming in her eyes. She had taken a moment but when she had uttered the syllable, it had pinched his heart. But she had hurt him - and he had to tell her so that she did not do it again.
Haan Swara tum. Tum jaanti ho ki...main..main tumse kitna pyaar karta hoon...par phir bhi baar baar tum mera dil tod deti ho. Agar tum mujhse pyar nahin karti toh main tumhe majboor nahin karoonga...par Lakshya ke saamne jo tumne humara rishte ko leke mere saamne umeed baandhi, please aage se aisa kuch mat karna. Dard hota hai...'
Swara had not said a word to his accusations. She had stood silently listening to him with a shocked look on her face. He did not know what she was feeling - because for the first time he could not read her face. He saw her wipe her tears and walked to the door. He had not wanted to hurt her - but he had to protect himself since he was the only one who could. He thought she would leave him now - but he was surprised when she closed the door of the room and put the curtains on and turned. She was not crying and there was a determination on her face. Sanskaar was taken aback. As she walked to him, Sanskaar did not know what to expect.
****
Swara walked up to Sanskaar in a daze; her mind racing with his words. Had she hurt him so much that he did not see the genuine feelings she had begun to feel for him. Had she turned the man who believed only in love to not believe in the honesty that she knew he could see in her eyes? As she came closer to him - she could see the uncertainty on his face. She knew what she had to do - maybe her words would not convince him but her actions could.
She backed Sanskaar in the wall and saw him gulp. There was restlessness in his eyes and she knew he hated being so close to her without knowing where this relationship was heading. But she also knew, physical proximity between them was far more passionate and tense than she could ever have with anyone.
Swara...
Shhh...
She placed her finger on his lips lightly and Sanskaar closed his eyes and opened them again. He did not know what Swara wanted to do but this was not what he had imagined. Her finger on his lips was playing with his self-control. Unknowingly, his hands held her bare waist and the feel of her soft skin under his fingers made him breathless. He saw her lift her fingers and caress his face and Sanskaar gulped in agony again. This was the sweetest torture. Before he knew, Swara had cupped his face in her hands and had lightly placed her lips on his. As their lips touched, Swara's hands found his shoulders and she clutched them and raised herself on her feet. Her soft face met his brazen unshaved face and magic happened. His mind went blank and he deepened the kiss forcing his lips to open her mouth. As their tongues met in a frenzy of passion, Sanskaar slipped one of his hands in her hair and she did the same. They stood under the moonlight, kissing and proclaiming their belongingness to each other.
When the kiss stopped, Swara held Sanskaar by his waist and dug her face in his chest, too shy to look up. Sanskaar touched his lips with his left hand to make sure; he was not imagining what had just happened. He caressed Swara's hair and forced her to look at him. When she finally did, her face was red and she was shyly looking down.
Swara...
I was not lying when I said I want to give our relationship a chance Sanskaar. I truly do want to give our marriage a chance. I...I want to give us a chance.
