CHAPTER 23

Everyone was taken aback by what sanskaar said, ragini looked at sanskaar and then at her hand which was under sanskaar's tight grip. She was shocked to react forget saying anything, all their life's which included hers, laksh's, swara's and sanskaar's were already messed up because of one single incident and now this outburst of sanskaar "YEH BACHA MERA HAI, MAIN HOON ISS BACHAY KA BAAP" will take their life's to another new level. A long tear skipped through ragini's eyes and she looked at laksh who has pain all over his face. The only thing that was stopping him was a promise he made to her. Ragini made a weeping sound, swara looked straight at sanskaar's face understanding what sanskaar had said .

Swara: yeh tum kia bakwas kar rahay ho?

Sanskaar: jo tum sun rai ho! Jis behen pai tum ungli utha rai ho, jis bachay kai baap ka naam tum jana chahti ho wo main hoon

Ragini put her hand on sanskaar's arm stopping him, laksh looked at them

Ragini: sanskaar! Bas kariye chup hojaye please...

She begged him

Sanskaar: NAHIN ragini, I guess ab tumhari behen ko uskay sawalo ka jawab mil gaya hai aur

He looked around towards the guests

Sanskaar: ap sabko bhi ap sabka jawab mil gaya hoga... isliye ab ragini ya iss bachay kai baray mai kuch bhi bolnay sai pehlay hazar baar sochi jaga

Some random lady: chi chi chi kaisa wakt agay hai begair shadi kai inko sharam nahi ati yeh sab harkatein karnay mai

Laksh shut his eyes and gritted his teeth in anger

Swara sighed and moved back, she looked towards her dada and dadi but they were quite, she then with question filled eyes looked towards her maa and baba who were quite too. Swara turned towards durga parsad

Swara: ap ab bhi kuch nahi kahein gai papa?

Durga parsad looked at her: yeh humaray ghar ka mamla hai swara aur hum isko dunia kai samnay ni bolna chahtay..

The guest started to move out of Maheshwari mansion slowly. Now there was only Maheshwari's and gadodia's

Swara: ab toh sab chalay gaye hain papa ab apka kia faisla hai?

Durga parsad went quite

Swara was stunned by the family's behavior she laughed sarcastically: hairat horai hai mujhay yahan aj itna sab kuch hogya aur koi kuch nahi bolay ga?

Swara held ragini by her arm: isnay itni giri hui harkat ki hai phir bhi koi sawal tak ni kar raha

Sharmishta: swara bas karo ab bohat tamasha hogya hai

Swara: wohi toh maa bohat tamasha hogya hai isliye ab toh faisla hokay rahay ga

She moved and stood in front of durga parsad maheshwari

Swara: ap toh samaaj kai rakshak hain na, sab faislay laitay hain toh aj ap chup ku hain? Aj ap koi faisla ku ni lai rahay?

She shouted shocking everyone

Sharmishta: swara yeh tu unsay kis tran baat kar rai hai? sasur hain wo teray

Swara: sasur hain toh kia kuch bhi karein gai . jab faisla laina hota hai tab laity nahi hai aur jab nahin laina hota tab baar baar apnay galat faislay sabko sunaty rehtay hain. Yeh samjhty hain kai sab inki katputli hain .

Ragini put her hand on her mouth in shock looking at the way swara was talking to papa.

Durga parsad: swaraaa

(he shouted)

Swara: chilayee mat , chilana mujhay bhi ata hai aur meri awaz bhi bohat unchi hai mr Maheshwari. Meray aur meri maa kai upar toh apnay bohat ungliyan uthai thi jab apko paat chala tha kai main baba ki beti hoon. Toh aj ku nahi? Sirf isliye ku kai aj yeh harkat apkay ladlay sanskaar nai ki hai? uskay andar apkay ghar kai sanskaar jo hain isliye?

Laksh held swara: enough swara who meray papa hain jinsay tum yeh sab keh rai ho

Sanskaar couldn't believe that she was the same swara he loved and who loved him and her sister like anything.

Swara: papa hain toh kia? Kuch bhi karein gai? Laksh inho nai tumharay sath kitna kuch kia par tumnay hamesha sar jhuka kai mana par aj yeh kuch bhi nahi keh rahy hain. Swara: mujhay pata tha kai ap aisa hi kuch bolein gai theek hai sanskaar ko saza ap ni daein gai

toh phir mai khud uskai khilaf police mai complain kar kai aoon gi. Isnay mujhy drugs diye hain aur yeh koi choti baat ni hai aura b toh iska plan mai samjh gai hoon. Yeh aur ragini milkay mujhy aur laksh ko apnay rastay sai hatana chahty thy takay yeh dono sath mai khush reh sakein aur sanskaar ka badla bhi pura hojaye. Ghatiyapan ki bhi hadh hoti hai

Sanskaar moved back remembering the moment he filled swara's maang and they took seven holy vows of being for each other and being together. His eyes had tears in them which could make way any moment. She was not his swara anymore because his swara was the one for whom others happiness meant more than hers. Ragini looked at sanskaar who was ready to cry and felt bad, she wanted to tell him that everything will be alright but before that

Swara: aur jahan tak rahi meri characterless behen ka sawal toh woh kia deserve karti hai yeh mai achay sai janti hoon

Swara went upstairs

While

Annapurna: yeh sab kia ho raha hai? swara aisay ku bartao kar rai hai

Sujata: jiji ab apko samjh mai aya kai yeh chori aisai hi hai

Ragini went to Annapurna: maa aisa kuch nahi hai iss wakt wo gusay mai hai jald sab theek hojaye ga.. aur yeh sab wo anajanay mai kar rai hai bass..

Sharmishta cried while shekhar supported her, laksh went to ragini

Sanskaar: yeh meri swara nahi hai

Ragini was going to him: sanskaar please baat ko samjhiye

Suddenly swara came down with a bag and threw it at ragini's feet

Ragini looked at the bag

Swara: uthao isay aur abhi kai abhi niklo yahan sai. Iss ghar mai tum jaisi giri hui larki ki koi jaga nahi

Ragini closed her eyes as tears skipped through her eyes, she with trembling hands picked the bag and laksh felt as if his world came crashing down to his feet. He shook his head, he was helpless. Laksh made a fist of his hand this can't happen. He and ragini had already suffered so much and now this . ragini moved a little ahead and felt her dupatta stuck, she turned and looked that it was stuck in laksh's watch.

"teri har jhalak mai dekhay who Rab

Teray naam ko hi dua kahein"

Laksh felt as if his happiness was being snatched from him all over again. Ragini looked at laksh with teary eyes and laksh looked at her with teary eyes

"teri har jhalak kehti hai sach

Tu kahay mujhy ya na kahay"

Ragini was about to go closer to him when swara came in between and freed the duppatta and threw it on ragini's face. Swara held ragini's hand and dragged her towards the stairs. Sharmishta tried to stop but swara was just thinking by her mind. Swara pushed ragini towards the end

And she came back down. Ragini looked at all. Annapurna had tears in her eyes. She brought her hand up and blessed her. Durga parsad felt his hands tied up he could not do anything for his son's happiness. Sanskaar felt he lost the battle, swara's first priority was being treated like this that too by swara herself. Laksh stood their almost lifeless. Ragini cried and joined her hands towards all

Aisa makaam

Jo har kisi ko mila nahi"

She took the bag and went out. Gadodia's went too.

2 hours later

Laksh stood on the stairs with a hockey stick in his hand. He looked at the spot where he stood numb and could not do anything when his love was being insulted by her own sister. He remembered how swara threw ragini out of the house, the house which belonged to ragini as well. She had brought happiness with her when she returned to Maheshwari mansion and today was the fateful day when she was thrown out of the same house. laksh gulped down the left alcohol in the bottle before throwing it down. Everyone came out and saw laksh in that state. Swara was shocked to see laksh that way.

Durga parsad shouted: lakshhh hosh mai aooo? Teri itni himit kai tu iss ghar mai sharab pee kai aya hai?

Laksh heard nothing but just ragini's crying face came in front of his eyes again and again

"tumharay liye mera dil beqarar hai

Mujhay sirf tumsay haan tumsay pyar hai"

Laksh came down and hit the glass table with the hockey breaking it. Swara came running to laksh and held him

Swara: stop it laksh tum pagal hogye ho

Laksh pushed swara: haan hogya hoon pagal hogya hoon pagal

He went to the dinning and with hockey broke the crockery placed on it. Annapurna put her hands on her ears.

Swara: laksh please howa kia hai bolo?

Laksh looked at her with a disgusted expression when he remembered

( ragini: apko humari kasam laksh)

Laksh in his distorted state threw the hockey: dur chali jao mujsay go away

He shouted. Annapurna came to swara

Annapurna: beta iss wakt nahi baad mai baat karlaina chalo

Swara: par maa?

Annapurna: maine kaha na swara chalo

She took swara with her..

And laksh sat on the floor, durga parsad saw his son in that state and came towards him . he also sat beside him

Durga parsad: laksh beta sab theek hojaye ga

Laksh looked at him and laughed: theek hojaye ga? You know papa meray samnay meri patni ki insult hui aur mai kuch nahi karsaka ku? Ku kai usnay mujhay vada dia tha apni kasam dii thi. Itna acha bhi nahi hona chai kisi ko

Durga parsad placed his hand on laksh's shoulder: himat mat haro, tum laksh maheshwari ho

Laksh: mai haar gaya hoon papa ( laksh said in a tiring voice) log meray bachay pai ungliyan utha rahay thay and mai yeh bhi nahi keh paya kai wo mera bacha hai . sab theek kaisay hoga kaisay?

He cried and hugged his father, sanskaar who saw everything came towards him and placed his hand on laksh's shoulder . laksh looked at him and smiled

Laksh: meri zimedari toh meray bhai nai puri ki, ku kai ragini nai inko koi kasam ni dii thi na bhai tut oh lucky hogya

Sanskaar made laksh stand

Sanskaar: lucky ragini wapis ajaye gi

Laksh: sach bhai ap jhoot acha bol laitay ho ? Kaisay aye gi? Apki patni nai nikal dia usay

Sanskaar: bharosa rakh . mai jaon ga na usay wapis lai kai aoon ga.

Laksh: vada?

Sanskaar nodded

"toot jaaye na lamha aitabaar ka

Dai koi sila mera intezar ka"

BAADI

Everyone at baadi were continuously talking about ragini and gadodia family. Gadodia family's door was closed. Dada and dadi were sitting in tension, what will happen now who will lessen their misery. Sharmishta was purely crying and shekhar was trying to calm her

Sharmishta: meri betiyon ki zindagi tabah hogai shekhar. Aek behen nai dosri behen ka ghar apnay hath sai ujar dia.. ab kia hoga.. kia hoga ab?

Shekhar: humari swaragini kabhi alag nahi hosakti mishti, bharosa rakho sab theek hoga sab kuch.

Ragini opened the door and entered, dada and dadi looked at her and stood. Sharmishta was about to go to her but

Dadi: wohi ruk ja sharmishta, aek kadam bhi mat barhana wa ki traf warna kamzor par javay gi

Ragini looked at dadi confused

Dadi: manay maaf kardai ladoo par tu is ghar mai na reh sakay gi

Ragini was shocked: par dadi maa

Dadi showed her hand to her: manay keh dia hai. iss umar mai hum yeh sab badnami na seh sakein gai. Jabkay thara pati bhi hai aur sasural bhi.

Shekhar: maa yeh tum kia keh rai ho?

Dadi: swara sai sach chupana iska faisla tha. Manay swara sai humdardi hai par swara ki yadein agar pori zindagi wapis na awaein gi phir? Upar sai sanskaar nai bharay samajh kai samnay yeh keh dia kai yeh bacha uska hai.

Sharmishta: shekhar maa ko samjhao na

Ragini: dadi maa hum kahan jaein gai?

Dadi: manay na pata hai. tu wapis ja aur jakay swara ko sab kuch bta dai

Ragini wiped her tears: dadi maa yeh sach ya koi bhi sach koi bhi badnaami kisi ki zindagi sai bari nahi hai. please dadi maa ap samjhiye humay wo behen hai humari agar wo bhi hoti toh yahi karti

Dadi maa: har din yahan ruk kai tran tran ki batein sunay sai acha howay ga kai tu yahan sai chali jaye.

Dadi went to ragini held her arm and pushed her out and closed the door locking it and cried. Sharmishta ran and fell on bed crying hard.

Ragini felt no movement in her body, she turned around and walked while people were starring at her and talking. Ragini walked lifelessly, she was walking without any knowledge of what was happening around her. She kept on walking, what has happened in few days, they all were so happy and now everything was shattered and lost.

Here sujata came in sanskaar's room and saw him hugging swara's picture. She pulled the picture from him and teared it

Sanskaar: mom?

Sujata: bas hogya, mai tanay devdas na banay du gi

Sanskaar: mom please phirse kuch bhi mat boli jaga. Aj waisay hi bohat kuch hochuka hai

Sujata: sanskaar mai tanay pehlay hi keh chuki hoon kai agar iss baar tanay maari baat na maani na toh mai zehar kha loon gi phir tu hi maari maut ka zimedaar hoga. Isliye acha howay hai kai tu chup chaap shadi karnay ka faisla karlai..

With that she went from their and sanskaar sat on floor putting his hands on his head . swara's laughter echoed in his head.

Ragini came outside the Maheshwari mansion and it all seemed so quite to her, the house where swara and hers laughter used to echo was so quite. The guard saw her and came to her

Guard: madam darwaza khol doon?

Ragini: nahi bhaiya hum yahin pai bethein gai yahi humari jaga hai shaid

Ragini went and sat near the corner, covering herself with her saree's pallu. She sobbed thinking where she would go? What will happen to her baby now?

"lagta hai maan yeh sochnay

Jeevan kai har ik mor pai"

Ragini remembered swara pushing her and slapping her, she shut her eyes saying

Ragini: swara hum ragini hain tumhari behen tum toh humari fairy thin a jo sab theek kardati thi

"adhay adhay milay

Adhay kho gaye"

Ragini remembered laksh hugging her from behind, all the moments with him how he use to capture her every single moment

"hum jagay toh

Sapnay so gaye"

Ragini wiped her face

Ragini: bhagwan ku horaha hai yeh sab kuch humaray sath ku? Sab dukhi hain sab koi khush nahi hai kia hoga ab?

"adhi adhi mili

Sari khushi"

She remembered her reunion with laksh how he made her wear the mangalsutra and filled her maang, and how he begged from dadi and said that he would always make her happy.

"muskuraye hi thi

Chup hogye"

Sanskaar who stood on the window looked at ragini who was sitting on the road. He has just called sharmishta maa to know about ragini's well being and was shocked to know that didn't accepted ragini just because he said that the kid was hers.. swara sure had forgotten but rest all knew still this inhuman behavior with ragini .

Sanskaar: swara mai janta hoon kai tum tarpo gi jab tumhay ehsas hoga kai tumnay apni behan kai sath kia kia hai. par tum usay bhi zada gusa hogi agar tum pata chalay ga kai mai chup chaap ragini ko takleef mai dekhta raha

( swara: meri behen meri zindagi hai uski khushian meray liye sabsay zada zarori hai sanskaar)

( ragini: humari behen ki zindagi sai zada humaray liye kuch mainay ni daita laksh apko humari kasam apko yeh karna hi hoga)

(sanskaar: swara ka sath swara ki zindagi sai zada zarori nahi hai)

(laksh: kehna bohat asan hota hai ragini par pyar keliye kuch karna bohat mushkil)

(ragini: mushkil na hota toh usay qurbani ku kehtay)

(laksh: theek hai mai karon ga)

Sanskaar opened his eyes when he felt laksh's hand on his shoulder

Laksh: ragini kehti hai paas rehna hi pyar ni hota duri bhi aek pyar hai bhai

Sanskaar turned around: tu jo swara keliye kar raha hai mai chah kai bhi uska shukriya nahi karsakta , tu uski nahi meri jaan bacha raha hai . apna pyar apni patni apna anay wala baby sab kuch side par rakh kai

Laksh: mai toh bohat khud garz hoon bhai par ragini kai pyar kai samnay meri khudgarzi bhi kuch nahi hai. wo swara ko takleef mai ni dekh paye gi

Sanskaar: phir bhi sab kahan kar patay hain yeh. Laksh ab jo mai karon ga I hope tu mujhy galt nahi samjhay ga

Laksh: kabhi nahi bhai.

Sanskaar hugged laksh, he looked back and saw that ragini was not there.

Sanskaar: lucky mai ata hoon.

Ragini was walking away from the maheshwari house when suddenly someone held her wrist, she turned around to look and saw it was sanskaar

Ragini: sanskaar ap?

Sanskaar: sharmishta maa ka phone aya tha I know baadi mai kia howa

Ragini cried hiding her face: sab khatam hogya sanskaar sab kuch. Hum isi kabil hain

Sanskaar: ragini I am sorry

Ragini: sanskaar apko sabkay samnay wo sab nahi kehna chai tha

Sanskaar: swara kabhi bardasht nahi karti kai tumharay character pai log kisi tran ki ungli uthaein aur tum hi kehti hoon na kai swara ka dil janta hai sab bas uska demag nai maan raha .

Ragini nodded

Sanskaar: tum swara ki choti behan ho, uski pehli priority uski bohat keemti cheez uski khushi tum mai hai tumharay sath mai. Aur jab tak swara nahi hai tab tak swara ki har cheez ki responsibility meri hai. tumhari bhi

Ragini sobbed more: ab kia hoga

He put his both hands on her shoulder while she looked up at him with tears in her eyes

Sanskaar: shadi karlo mujhsay

Ragini realized that it was more of a order. What was next now

Ragini threw his hands away: apka demag kharab hogya hai sanskaar? Hum laksh ki patni hain aur ap swara kai pati hain. Wo pyar karti hai apsay! Ap aisa keh bhi kaisay sakty hain?

Sanskaar: ragini humay yeh karna hoga. Logo ka sabka mu band karwanay keliye

Ragini: ap pagal hogye hain sanskaar. Hum agay bohat pareshan hain humay aur mat pareshan keejay.

Ragini was about to go when he came in front of her

Sanskaar: mom meri shadi kahi aur karwa daein gi aur iss baar wo serious hain, swara ki jaga koi aur lai li gii

Ragini was shocked

Sanskaar: laksh tumhay apni ankho kai samnay dekhna chahta hai aur tumhari aur sabki izat aj sawal pai hai. iska sirf aek hi hal hai . agar main aur tum iss shadi ka natak karein toh sabkay samnay yeh dekhaein kai humnay shadi karli hai . dunia ko unkai sawalo ka jawab mil jaye ga

Ragini understood what he meant but was this pretence right? Ragini was in deep thoughts when sanskaar forwarded his hand which had sindoor box on it.

Sanskaar: laga lo apni maang mai laksh kai naam ka sindoor

Ragini with shaking hand took a bit of sindoor and filled her maang again
