CHAPTER 24

Maheshwari Mansion

Everyone were present in the hall, dp and ap were sitting while laksh was standing near the window.

Sujata coming down from stairs: jiji pata nahi mara sanskaar kithay chala gaya, manay kuch pachas phone kiye par uss choray nai aek na uthaya. Yeh sab iss Bengali chori swara ki waja sai howa hai, mara beta uska asli rang seh na saka. Jhatka lagay hai usay. Pehlay toh swara nai apni hi behan ko ghar sai dhakay maar maar kai bahar nikal dia aur phir

Laksh closed his eyes and took a deep breath; it was all too hard to digest for him, ragini was gone again. Laksh thought ( aisa ku hota hai ragini kai har baar tumhay patay patay kho daita hoon)

Laksh looked at the sky through the open window and suddenly ragini's laughing face showed up in front of his eyes, the one in which she made him get up from alarm at 4 p.m. the way she laughed, the kid like innocent laugh of hers.

"chahata hai kitna tujhayyy

Khud magar nahi jaan saka"

Laksh felt his cheeks got wet again by tears and he closed his eyes

FLASHBACK

Laksh and ragini were lying on the terrace on the floor facing the sky and ragini's head was on laksh's arm, both were looking towards the stars

Laksh: kia dekh rai ho?

Suddenly dadi maa entered the house crying with shekhar and sharmishta following her. Laksh turned to look at them and went to them, everyone stood

Dadi cried and laksh was stunned

Laksh: dadi apnay aisa kaisay kia? Apnay meri ragini ko ghar mai anay ni dia? Ap janti hai na kai iss sabmai uska koi kasoor nai hai? phir wo itni takleef ku sahay? Kuuu?

Laksh shouted and Annapurna controlled him: laksh awaz neechi karo agar swara nai sun lia toh aur museebat hojaye gi .

Laksh moved back and shouted more: museebat hoti hai toh hoti rahay, I give a damn mujhay bas meri patni chai.

Annapurna cupped his face and laksh who was crying by now shook his head

Laksh: maa you know she can't handle this world usay logo ki koi samjh nahi hai aur bahar ki dunia uska parivvar nahi hai.

Swara came down from her room: yeh sab itna shor ku horaha hai

Everyone looked at her

She came down and saw her family: maa baba? Dadi? Ap sab iss wakt yahan par? Kia howa?

Sharmishta: shona beta ragu ka kuch pata ni chal raha hai wo ghar aai thi par teri dadi nai usko daant dia aur wo chali gai

Swara got panicked first but then her reaction shocked everyone: maa chill! Yeh sab koi naya natak hoga takay sabki attention uski traf jaaye

Sharmishta left swara's arm in shock and moved back realizing that this selfish girl was nowhere near her daughter swara who loved ragini above all

Swara: ap sab so jaye ku apni neend kharab kar rahay hain. Ragini ka aek naya drama hoga . ajaye gi apnay magarmach kai ansoo bahatay howay.

Laksh looked at swara in anger

Swara to dadi: aur dadi apnay theek kia jo usay ghar mai ni anay dia. Ab itna bara gunah karay gi toh koi toh saza milay gi na

Annapurna covered her mouth in shock

Laksh shouted: enough swara wo behan hai tumhari

Swara came towards laksh and put her hand on his cheek which he threw away making swara hurt

Swara: what is wrong with you laksh?

Laksh: what is wrong with me? What is wrong with you swara ? hosh mai aao

Swara: wo nahi hai meri behan ab itnay gunah karay gi toh koi na koi saza toh milay gi warna agar yeh bhi na hota toh mai khud jakay sanskaar aur ragini kai khilaf police complain karti. Wo meri behan ho ya tumhara bhai galat galat hai

Laksh: You have lost it

Swara: I have lost it? Najaiz rishta rakha tumharay bhai nai, my sister is carrying his child without marriage aur koi kuch bhi nahi keh raha and I have lost it. Phir unko ehsas kaisay hoga kai unho nai galti ki hai? HOW

She said in anger when a sanskaar said

Sanskaar: humay ehsas hogya hai swara.

Swara and all looked towards the stairs and saw sanskaar standing there with a garland around his neck and a tika on his forehead

Swara looked at sanskaar with confused expression

Sanskaar: you are right! Humnay galat kia hai aur ab hum wohi galti sudhar rahay hain

Laksh: bhai Thank God you came

Laksh was about to move towards sasnkaar when from back ragini came with a garland around her neck, sindoor adorning her maang and a managalsutra adorning her neck, sanskaar was holding her hand and she came and stood beside sanskaar.

Laksh stopped right there feeling his foot being glued to the floor and he wasn't about to move forward. His eyes were just on ragini and sanskaar and their hands which were entwined together. Sharmishta faltered back and collided with shekhar who supported her. Annapurna shook her head not believing what she saw and then looking at laksh who seemed to lost his voice and senses looking at sanskaar and ragini.

Dadi whispered: maara khatushaam ji

Sanskaar looked at all and then looked at ragini who to looked back at him, he closed his eyes assuring ragini to be calm

Sanskaar : MAINAY AUR RAGINI NAI SHADI KARLI

Laksh skipped his heart beat and swara didn't knew why she felt that someone just added salt to her wounds and suddenly a fresh blur image of two people with garlands standing at baadi door hand in hand. She looked the other side and didn't know why to look at ragini and sanskaar that way hurt her.

Dp: SANSKAARRR (he shouted) tum hosh mai toh ho? Yeh tum kia bakwas kar rahay ho?

Ragini: papa... (she stopped and looked down, her heart was racing) bade papa sanskaar... (she stammered) sanskaar sach keh rahay hain.. humnay shadi karli hai

Laksh closed his eyes as tears skipped through them, ragini looked at laksh and the pain which was visible on his face

"Nadaan iss dil ki

Har khwaish ruthi

Sapnay howay hain saray choor re"

Ragini cried looking at him and was about to go towards him when sasnkaar held her hand strongly and signaled her not to do anything

Sujjata: sasnkaar thara demag kharab hogya hai? yeh kia bolay ja raha hai choray

Sanskaar looked at his mom: mom ap hi toh chahti thi kai mai shadi karlon? Right? Aur ab mainay shadi karli hai toh apko aitraz hai?

Sujata: choray maray sath yeh khel na khel tu yeh shadi kaisay kar sakta hai

Sanskaar: ku mom mai ku nahi karsakta shadi?

Sujata: ku kai ragini toh

She stopped realizing if she said the truth now all her efforts to send swara away will go in water

Sanskaar: ragini kia mom?

Sanskaar thought: I know mom ab ap kuch bhi nahi bolein gi aur swara ki jaga koi bhi nahi lai sakay ga. It's safe now!

Sanskaar to everyone: ap sabko humay ashirwaad dai daina chaiye. Humaray iss faislay mai dono parivaaro ki bhalai thi

Swara looked at him

Sasnkaar: I hope swara now its fine for you

Sanskaar who was looking at swara and she was looking at him too

"teri jeet gai nafratein

Haar gaya mera pyar"

Swara with a lot of difficulty: good for you both

She looked down controlling her tears

Swara: par tum dono yahan nahi reh saktay

Swara went towards laksh and held his hand

Swara: agar tum dono yahan raho gait oh mai aur laksh yahan nahi rahein gai

Sanskaar still holding ragini's hand stood in front of swara hlding laksh's hand. Laksha and ragini looked at eachother straight in each other eyes which had only pain and hurt in them

Laksh's heart: har dard sai tum mujhay nikalti thi ragini ab iss dard ki dawa kaun dai ga

Ragini's heart: laksh hum jantay hain kai bohat sawal hain apkay dil mai magar hum yeh bhi jantay hain kai humara pyar sacha hai aur sachay pyar ki takat kai samnay har dard ko jhukna hota hai.

Laksh's heart : tumpay toh mujhay khud sai zada bharosa hai par iss demag ka kia karon?

Ragini's heart: dilon kai faislon mai demag ka koi kaam nahi. Waqt har dard ka marham hai

Sanskaar with a challenging tone: tumhay aur laksh ko yahan sai janay ko koi zarorat nahi hai, ku kai mai aur ragini yahan tab tak nahi aein gai jab tak tum humay anay na doo, tab tak hum baadi mai rahein gai

Laksh looked at sanskaar and he assured laksh with his eyes

Sanskaar: dadi maa ab toh apko humaray wahan rehnay sai koi aitraaz nahi hoga na?

Dadi was too shocked to say anything so she just nodded

Sanskaar: chalo ragini

Swara held laksh's arm tightly, she felt the pain seeing sanskaar with ragini and she had no answers to it. Laksh opened his mouth to say something looking at ragini but then he couldn't

"teray bin jeena hai aisay

Dil dharka na ho jaisay"

Sanskaar looked at swara and the tears in her eyes which told him that she was hurt he wanted to go to her hug her and tell her that he has always loved her only but he felt tied up with so many things. Ragini was right above all swara's life was the most important

"yeh ishq hai kia dunia ko

Hum samjhaein kaisay"

Sanskaar turned around with ragini and laksh who could see ragini going turned the other way too and swara too turned. Laksh looked around to see ragini walking with sanskaar

"aaa dilo ki rahon mai hum kuch aisa karjaein

Ik dujay sai bicharay toh saans liye bin mar jaein"

Laksh again looked the other way while swara looked at them going, wiped her tears and wanted to call out sanskaar and stop him but why she hate him so why its all affecting her

"o khuda bata dai kia lakeeron mai likha

Humnay toh, humnay toh bas ishq hai kiya"

Ragini looked around and saw swara seeing her and then swara looked the other side making a disgusted face. Ragini cried more and he crying voice reached laksh' ears. Sanskaar put his arm around her shoulder supporting her and laksh saw it and his heart broke in uncountable peaces which can't be counted by anyone. He understood the reason behind this step but he just can't tolerate seeing such things. All he did was loved ragini and realized it, and if this has to happen why God brought them together.

"pyaar ki inn rahon mai miltay hain kitnay dariya

Lakh tufano mai bhi dil ko mil jata hai zariya"

Swara couldn't control now so she hugged laksh closing her eyes she knew she was laksh's wife now so why out of nowhere she this heart aching for sanskaar and feeling guilty for the pain she has given him. She saw a blur image of a guy giving a hanky to a girl.

"iss dil iradon mai hai itna asar

Lehron sai kinaaro pai karta hai safar"

Just about to go ragini stopped and looked back and at the same time laksh looked at her too. He brought her hands up and signaled her not to cry. Ragini cried and tried to smile too but it wan't possible.

Suddenly she freed her hand from sanskaar and ran towards laksh, and laksh too ran towards her and they both hugged each other tightly, ragini hided her face in his neck and he cried hided her face above her shoulder

"aj apnay rango sai bichdi hain yeh tasveerein

Hatho mai kahin toot rahi hain milkay doo takedeerein"

Laksh smiled and cupped her face and was about to kiss her forehead when realized swara holding his hand and he saw ragini standing with snaskaar, ragini to came back to reality once realized that sanskaar was telling her something

Sasnkaar: lets go ragini

Ragini last time looked at laksh

"dunia yeh jeet gai dil haar gaya

Nahi socha tha milkar kabhi hongay juda

O khuda bata dai kia lakeeron mai likha

Humnay toh.. humnay toh bas ishq hai kia"

Sanskaar and ragini went. Swara ran towards her room locking her door, laksh cried and ran towards the terrace.

BAADI

By seeing ragini and sanskaar together all the baadi people were quite and could not say much as both of them go married

Lady 1: jab shadi hi karni thi toh yeh sab ghatiya harkatein karnay ki zarorat kia thi. Aj kal kai chora chori bas.

Sanskaar ignored but ragini couldn't and she ran upto the chaath. Sanskaar was about to go when sharmishta put her hand on his shoulder

Sharmishta: ragu ko kuch samay keliye akela chordo beta

Sanskaar nodded

Shekhar and sharmishta with dadi went inside the house while sanskaar stood their he could not leave ragini alone. She was his and swara's responsibility, sanskaar's phone rang and he saw laksh calling he picked it up

Sanskaar: lucky

Laksh: bhai wo

Sanskaar: lucky I hope tu samjh gaya ho kai yeh sab natak karna zarori tha sabka mu band karwanay keliye

Laksh: I know bhai it was just hard. Painful!

Sanskaar: swara jald theek hojaye gi lucky and then hum sab khush rahein gai

Lucky: I hope so

Sanskaar: uski traf sai mai maafi mangta hoon, usnay anjanay mai bohat kuch keh dia ragini ko, bade papa ko sabko tujhay mujhay. Par ragini is right iss wakt usko nahi paa kai wo kia kar rai hai. tu please usay nafrat mat karna and harsh bhi mat hona

Laksh: ragini kehti hai?

Sanskaar: hmm

Laksh smiled : theek kehti hai phir toh. Bhai ap please meri ragini ka khyal rakhna

Sanskaar: lucky ragini sirf teri patni nahi hai wo swara ki behan hai aur hum jantay hain kai swara usay kitnapyar karti hai, tu fikar mat kar. Ragini aur tera baby meri responsibility hai

Laksh: bhai ragini sai baat kara doo gai her phone is not reachable

Sanskaar: haan ku nahi wait

He was about to go on terrace when he and laksh heard ragini singing

Ragini: ku kai itna pyar tumkooo

Kartay hain hum..

Laksh: she sings when she is sad bhai. Aur aj toh wo hurt bhi hai

Ragini: kia jano gai humaray sanam

Ku ki itna pyar tumko kartay hain hum

Sanskaar: lucky I am just sorry

Ragini: humari dil kit um thori si kadar karlo

Hum tumpai martay hain thori si fikar karlo

Laksh: bhai please just take care of her

He could not listen more and cut the call crying hard..

Swara was sitting beside the bed and crying nonstop she saw a hand with hanky

Swara: thank you laksh

She looked up and was shocked to see sanskaar giving her hanky; she stood up with a plain face

Swara: sanskaar tum?

Sanskaar came closer to her while she moved back towards the wall hitting it

Sanskaar: mujhay bhool gait um swara?

Swara: bhool gai?

Sanskkar whispered: yeh ansoo in ankho mai achay nahi lagtay

Swara felt consumed by him and brought her hand to touch his face. What was happening to her?

Sanskaar wiped her tears with his fingers and hugged her, swara felt so secure and she did not know why.

"mai manti hoon meri khata hai

Dai daii jo bhi tumnay daini saza hai"

Swara hided her face in his jacket

"aj teri bahon mai ronay dai

Thora kareeb toh anay dai"

Suddenly swara opened her eyes to feel that she was hugging no one and it all was hallucination, swara covered her mouth with her hands not understanding that why she dreamt of sanskaar? Who was he to her? She should be happy that he is not here but instead she is not but why. Swara touched her head as it was aching.

Ragini in the room was sitting on the bed and sanskaar entered and saw her crying he sat on the other side

Sanskaar: aisay ro gin a toh tumhara aur laksh ka baby bhi rondo niklay ga

Ragini looked at him wither crying eyes: sanskaar please itna sab kuch hogya aisay mai hum roein bhi na? udhar laksh kitni takleef mai hongay aur hum unkai paas nahi hai humay bilkul acha ni lag raha

Sanskaar: koi thori dair pehlay toh bohat aram sai keh raha tha kai jald swara theek hojaye gi aur phir sab theek hoga phir ab kia howa?

Ragini: hum bhi insan hain, jab sabko takleed dai rahay thy tab bhi takleef hoti thi humay

Sanskaar: see raigini aisay ro gi toh jab swara thek hogi tab wo bhi dantay gi tumhay bhi aur mujhy bhi aur uska gussa toh tum janti ho

Ragini smiled

Sanskaar: aur laksh has asked me to take care of you and his princess

Ragini wiped her tears: ab hum nahi roein gai

And she cried again

Sanskaar: ajeeb larki ho how does laksh handle you?

Ragini made an sad face

Sanskaar: you sisters are epic.. aek hunter wali bani v hai and dosri damsel in distress hum bhai kerin toh kia karein?

Ragini laughed suddenly

Ragini: sanskaar ap bhi na

Sanskaar got up and took a tablet with water: good girl chalo beta ab yeh dawai kha lo and no zidd, swara told me all your nakhray while having tablets

Ragini looked down and then ate it

Ragini: kha lii.. ab ap jayee. Dosra room khali karwa dia hai

Sanskaar nodded: kal milk laikay aoon ga.. good night

Sanskaar smiled and went, ragini laid down putting her hands on her stomach, sanskaar in other room laid down on bed too while taking out his violet and seeing swara's picture. Here laksh was still on terrace lying on couch with ragini's photo frame in his hand and hugged it tight. While swara is seen switching on and off the lamp and thinking about sanskaar.

"Ranjhan dhoondhan main chaleya
Ranjhan mileya naa ye...
Jigraan vichon agan laga ke Rabba
Lakeeran vich likh di judaai"
