Tejaswini and Laila: In my opinion, Dadi thought that Laksh has indeed committed the crime, so by that logic, she is justified in blackening his face. Or is it otherwise? I'm yet to watch the episode. Did Dadi know that Lakhsya is innocent or did she presume that he had committed the act?
Also, Laila, yeah, it is a crime, as per Indian Penal Code Sections 503 and 506. But you're correct that the Police wouldn't have taken any action against the Maheswaris since they are the proverbial "vade log". But then, if we go by the Police taking or refraining from action, then most of India's corrupt politicians are blemish-free. Murderous Khap Panchayats are also let off the hook by the Police, but that doesn't take away from the heinousness of their acts.P.S. Just saying, people nowadays don't "step forward" even when somebody is being molested or mugged in public.
Okay, you win.
But I still stand by what I said. Maheshwari shouldn't have been blackened because Lakshya is innocent and no matter how heinous and unfair he has been in the past, this time he was not at fault to be at the receiving end of Dadi's revenge.
