Chapter 6: Surprise Surprise...
Naina p.o.v.
Naina was engulfed by blindness as Karan slowly tied the blindfold around her eyes. She couldn't believe that Karan had changed so much. He was no longer the always doubting and sad Karan. He was a changed man now and was becoming more and more romantic by the day. The families had left a little while ago leaving the couples to stay back alone for a little while longer and enjoy themselves. Kunal juju and di had run off into the trees. Karan welcomed the opportunity with open arms. And here he was now adamant to surprise her.
He took her hand in his and she followed him slowly. He walked slowly and kept an arm around her shoulder to keep her balance. She steadied herself. She tried to smell and see what the possible surprise could be. But no clue. She felt the wind in her hair. Ab yahan ruko he said. She stood obediently. She suddenly felt him behind her. Her heart beats increasing slightly. He slowly took both her hands and spread them out wide. She slowly felt the darkness sweep away and realised that the blindfold had come off.
She opened her eyes to see that they were on the top of a cliff. Beneath her, she saw the city in the distance covered with lights. It was breathtaking. The night sky above twinkled with the stars. Then she felt Karan, his chin on her shoulders. Their arms spread out. She realised then that they were in the titanic pose. She closed her eyes to take in the moment. The breeze tickling her, she shuddered. She felt him come closer to her and press himself against her. His warmth spread around her. Kaisa laga, he whispered in her ear. She gasped. His scent filling her.
She turned around carefully to answer but he was already on his knees. Karan tum yeh... she started but he said sshhh. The silence spread around them. He looked into her eyes and put out his hand. She slowly placed hers in it. Naina tum meri zindagi mein by force aayi thi, meine tumhe bohot dukhaya par tab bhi tum meri saath rahi. Ab bas mein yahi chahtha hoon ki tum hamesha hamesha ke liye meri saath raho. Aaj mein us sitaare aur yeh zameen ko saakshimaan kar kehna chahtha hoon ki Mein tumse bohot pyaar karta hoon Naina, I love you and only you. Tumhare liye mein kuch bhi kar saktha hoon. Kya tum bhi mujhe pyaar karti ho? He asked. Naina's eyes stung with tears. She had never ever thought that Karan would propose her like this. She nodded unable to get out any words. Her heart fluttering in happiness.
Karan p.o.v.
Karan had been planning this for so long. He knew that he would have to find the perfect place to do this proposal but he felt it was best to do it before they went off for the honeymoon tomorrow. He could see the love she had for him. She was probably equally shy to say. So when he wandered across this cliff in the morning, he thought this was the right place. He watched Naina as her eyes expanded at his proposal. For a minute he was worried she would faint. But no she stood firm and nodded her acceptance. He cried too then. It felt that there was nothing in the world that could harm him when she was with him. He slowly took out the ring that he had been saving for so long.
He had got it made specially for them. He bought it with his first salary. He thanked God for making him bring it along today. So he neatly took it out of the box and placed it on her finger. He felt her gasp in surprise. He planted a small kiss on her hand. The blush on her cheeks returned. He slowly stood up and brushed it with his fingertips. She hugged him gripping on to him tightly. He wrapped his arms around her. Surprise aur bhi baki hai Naina he said. She pulled back with a shocked expression. He giggled. Chalo, he said and tugged her along down the cliff. He helped her move around carefully, not stumbling.
They reached the edge of a river bank. In it was a small boat, floating. The boat was decorated with rose petals and set up with a small picnic basket. He helped her climb in and seated himself opposite. Slowly taking the oars he pushed the boat out and they glided along the lake to an quieter area where they were surrounded by trees which sparkled with the fireflies. She looked so happy. He was glad he could do this much for her. He knew she deserved so much more. He watched her take pictures of the boat, him and their surroundings, trying to capture these moments forever in her heart. Karan, yeh sab bohot khubsoorat hai, she said.
Tumse zyada nahi, he replied. She shied away. He slowly opened the basket and they began sharing some sandwiches. She took it and started eating. Once done, they shared some apple juice in a glass. Taking a zip at a time admiring each other. Then she positioned herself and they took some cute selfies together. Their first photos of togetherness. He watched as she began admiring her ring. Finally getting a chance to take a closer look at it. He had made it in such a unique design for her. He hoped that she liked it.
Naina p.o.v.
Karan had blown her away tonight. She never knew that he had it in him. The ring she was wearing now was glistening. She couldn't help but gasp. It was small but perfect. She didn't know how he managed to find such a perfect fit. Now as she closely looked at the ring, she realised that it was silver in colour with little white stones, diamonds twinkling. The ring was designed in such a way that it looked like a K and an N intertwined together. She was impressed that he had put so much thought into it.
She slowly took the ring off to analyse it further but it slipped and she heard it plop into the water. Shocked at what she had done, Naina looked to Karan. But he was already diving into the water. Naina managed a scream. She looked around helplessly, Karan was no where to be seen. She called his name. Fear engulfed her heart. What had she done? She looked around for any sign of help but no one was around. Her heart started sinking. She would never forgive herself.
To her relief, she felt a tug on the side of the boat and saw Karan slowly gripping on. She helped him over the boat trying to maintain balance. He climbed in and she was thankful he was alright. She hugged him fiercely. Kya kiya tumne? Tumne socha bhi nahi ki mujhpe kya beethegi... she said exasperated. The emotions took over her and she kissed him on his forehead, cheeks and chin. He looked surprised, but allowed his arms to slowly wrap around her. Mein teek hoon, he replied, choking out some water.
The tears came rushing out of her eyes. Meri ring... she began. But he cut her off... sahi salamat hai. He slowly pulled the ring out of his pocket. She was glad he had found it. He slowly placed it back on her finger. His hands cupping her face, slowly wiping her tears. She realised their proximity now. His hair wet and water dripping. His white shirt soaked and clinging to his skin so his muscles were clear but visible. His arms around her, and his eyes slowly watching her.
Karan p.o.v.
He watched as Naina slowly took in their position. Her lips quivered, and eyes expanded seeing their proximity. He slowly brushed aside some strands of her hair and closed the distance between them. Their lips met slowly. She closed her eyes shut. Their heart rates increasing to the highest level. She shivered in his grip. His heart thumped in his ears. He yearned for this kiss in so long. He had seen it on tv and read it in books but this experience was so much more than he expected. The kiss was short, a little peck but it was enough to get her blushing. He traced the pink on her cheek with his thumb in circles. She shied down. He was still panting himself.
He wanted to take it slow. Kunal bhai advised him that romance should be taken step by step and that's when it can be enjoyed the most. So he followed it completely. He never wanted to force Naina out of her comfort zone. So he slowly twirled Naina in his arms and let her lie down on his chest and slowly leaned back. As the boat slowly floated in the water,the moon was the witness of their love.
Oh my gosh ur such an amazing writer!! Absolutely loved it, i was smiling all the way through! I was imagining samridh and ankita in this scene and it was just so beautiful.
