*Takes a deep breath*
WOW. Talk about intense. Today was... I don't even know what. One thing before everything else. Everybody was amazing today. Samridh Bawa just keeps setting new highs for himself. If we thought the last breakdown was amazing, this was even beyond that. And the best part was not even the breakdown. The best part was a 30 second scene of Karan's expressions later in the episode. I'll come to it in order but seriously, WOW.
Lets go back a bit. Right from the time of the "date" which Karan arranged from Naina. Did you all notice his tone from that time? His pitch was higher, more confident than usual, he was sure of what he was doing and sure of what he wanted. The three scenes of his which were this way were not simply random romantic moments inserted but were there for us to see the contrast, to see the high before Karan and us are plummeted from those highs. Its like getting bitten by the 99 vala snake when you play snakes and ladders.
The fact that was most heartbreaking was that Karan was so happy when he entered the room. All excited about his class, just dying to tell Naina stuff, wanting to make her listen to all his tunes. And he saw her hiding her hands and got suspicious. The shift in expressions was amazing. Seriously, Karan went from being happy to being aghast and shattered in less than a minute. And such is Samridh's brilliance that we saw every emotion flicking his face.đ
He sees Naina's hands and then realizes what has happened. Its is worst nightmare, his worst fear that someone gets his disease from him. And the fact that it happened to Naina is something he simply cannot excuse. He completely loses it. He is distraught. He says that he has never gifted her anything but has now given her his disease. You can simply see the horror in his face, in his voice. In all his dialogues, all his disgust at himself, all his anger, all poured out. "Maine apni friend ko apni beemari ded di. Tumne meri har problem, har gusse ko muskurate hue sambhala hai. Tum har kadam pe meri taakat thi aur main tumhari sabse badi kamzori ban gaya. Mujhe kabhi ye shaddi manni hi nahi chaiye thi, tumse dosti karni hi nahi chahiye thi. Main sahi tha, Karan hona sirf ek paap hai aur paap hi rahega." Naina stops him and says this is not true, its not because of him but Karan is beyond listening today. He just hates hiself for what he has done to Naina and wants to hurt himself. Sometimes people simply want to feel pain to take get away from the guilt and the numbness they are feeling. That was Karan today. He starts hitting his hand against the table, against the shelf, against anything, all the while saying that he had no right to touch her and that he deserves the pain. Naina tries to stop him but he shouts "Haat mat lagana mujhe Naina, varna main nahi janta main kya karunga." đ
Naina was completely at sea today. Both with Karan as well as Meghna. She just didn't know what to do. That shot was brilliant though, when Karan was hitting the shelf and Naina just slides down to the floor, completely broken, because she just did not know what to say to make Karan stop. She finally uses the umbrella to wheel Karan away and tries to talk to him. But Karan was not registering anything. He remembered about Vishal and called him, saying that he was coming to pick him up. He goes out, realizes he does not have car keys, so comes inside. And that is when THE scene happens.
Before that though, Meghna in the meanwhile has found out everything and is distraught. She finds Naina and hugs her. And then begins letting out her feelings. How she was disappointed that Naina had made her paraya, even going so far as asking if Naina still considers Meghna a sister. Meghna was feeling a multitude of emotions today, all of them justified - guilt at not having been a good sister, anger at Naina for hiding the truth, anger at the family for letting this marriage happen, hurt at what her sister had faced alone and that to for a man who she thinks doesn't deserve it. It was so heartbreaking to see. Meghna was questioning everything their relationship stood for and it was so sad for both of them for it to have come to this. She wants to tell Sharda but is not able to and Naina tells her that this is precisely how she was not able to tell Meghna anything.
The sisters conversation in the room after this was so poignant for many reasons. Meghna says that she can't build her perfect life on Naina's plight. Naina says that there is no such thing as a perfect life, you just have to find happiness in things yourself, as Kunal and Meghna have done. Meghna counters by saying if Naina has been able to find her happiness. Naina's response was very interesting. She said that there were problems in the beginning but now "Karan se accha insaan maine apni life mein nahi dekha. Vo meri kitni izzat karta hai, kitni care karta hai, aur main Karan ke saath khush hoon Di." THIS. How far has she also come. Remember in the very beginning, the reason she used to make efforts was because Sharda had tied her swabhimaan to her rishta and generally because she was sticking to a decision she took. But now, she has reasons which are related to Karan. And she wasn't simply saying it to appease Meghna, she truly meant it today. Its poignant how Meghna points out that she is being mahaan when actually, now she isn't and wants to stay because of Karan's good qualities which she admires and wants in a life partner. The irony was very well brought out.
Meghna obviously is not buying this and THIS is the point when Karan, who has forgotten his keys, comes to take them and overhears the conversation. Meghna is saying that Karan might be a good person but that does not change anything. "Vo bohot accha hoga par iss shaadi main vo sirf ek beemar hai. Uski acchayion ko gin kar uski beemari apne gale mat daal Naina. Ye shaadi sirf ek bhoj hai tere liye, sirf ek dokha hai. Ek beemar ke saath apni zindagi bhoj mat bana." And Karan has heard everything. Every single word. YOU JUST HAVE TO SEE THE EXPRESSIONS. His eyes were bloodshot, he was acknowledging everything Meghna said and registering it. He wasn't surprised, it was as if he believed that everything she was saying was true. The cold hard truth. The facts which he has to face. I can't even describe it well. You just have to see. He leaves, still thinking about it.
Meghna now wants to go speak to everyone and moves towards this, not listening to Naina who is pleading her to stop. But Meghna does not. All through the episode, Meghna didn't mince words and she is not even going to do so later. Its her sister we are talking about. There is no way we she will let go.
I am very curious as to where this is going now. The spoilers seem to indicate that everything is fine on the surface. I mean the pooja is happeing, the couples are smiling at each other etc. But somehow, I don't think that's the complete thing. Karan did hear what Meghna said today and there is the spoiler that says that Karan spoke to Meghna which calmed her down a bit. After that conversation also, in the segment, Karan looked very pensive and contemplative. Kuch toh baat hai. Lets see. The promo which they have shot for the sequence, of Meghna taking away Naina, is so very heartbreakingly beautiful though. I know its not going to play out now but the longing on NaiRan's faces is so poignant! Maybe it is for sometime in the future? The voice over also says "Kya Karan aur Naina ko hoga pyaar ka ehsaas?" Maybe, just maybe, we are on that track?
