Actor Nitanshi Goel, who won the Best Debut Actress Award at the Filmfare Awards in Ahmedabad for her performance in Laapataa Ladies, found herself at the centre of a viral moment. While walking up the stage to accept her award, the actor nearly tripped on the staircase — but was swiftly saved by none other than Shah Rukh Khan, who was hosting the evening.

The moment that became unforgettable

Recalling the incident, Nitanshi told Hindustan Times, “Going up to the stage to win an award for such a special performance was already a big moment for me. But experiencing Shah Rukh Khan sir’s chivalry is a whole different feeling. Getting the award from idols like Shah Rukh sir, Akshay sir, and Karan sir makes it even more special — it’s something that will always have a place in my heart.”

The young actor laughed while describing how surreal it felt to be held by the superstar in that instant. “Girls all over the world only dream of such a moment,” she said. “Being held by Shah Rukh sir and getting saved from a bad fall is a memory I’ll carry with me forever. And imagine — he even held the trail of my gown while I was walking on stage. I don’t know how to describe it in words.”

Fans draw comparisons with Jennifer Lawrence

The clip of the incident quickly spread online, with fans calling it a “dream come true” for any SRK admirer. Some even compared it to Jennifer Lawrence’s famous stumble at the 2013 Oscars, when she tripped while accepting her award.

Nitanshi, amused by the comparison, referenced Jennifer’s own interview about that moment. In it, the Hollywood star had admitted she forgot her stylist’s advice to “kick walk” to avoid tripping — and instead kept thinking of “cake walking.”

For Nitanshi, the night became more than just about winning a trophy. Between the honour, the laughter, and Shah Rukh Khan’s gentlemanly rescue, the 19-year-old walked away with a story that’s likely to stay with her for life.
