I do feel bad for her at times...her conversation with Lord Krishna where she talks of her miseries is heart-wrenching... 😭
And it is true that half of the things in the epic happened because of her...But in a way, I feel she could do all this bcoz Pandu was dead...if he had been alive, then maybe we would have known a different Kunti...but nonetheless she made an impact...I wish the CVs showed this...

As for Draupadi...yes, she was very very very very very vocal about her problems but I guess it is easier to have dignity when in lesser troubles...When a woman gets assaulted again n again(n sometimes in front of her husbands)...being elegant n dignified becomes the least of her concerns...or so I feel. The best example of that is Gandhari...The woman who never spoke ill of anyone...n did not even bless her sons with victory, lost all control n self-restraint when her sons died...n started yelling n cursing...
And y is Draupadi glorified? I guess bcoz she is the wife of the 'heroes' n the assaulted one...
Like u said...people give a lot of importance to tragedy n tragic characters...n hence there is so much discussion on Draupadi...And ofcourse her polyandry...which most people still cant digest bcoz of her gender...
Anyway...let's focus on Kunti.

I just really wish they had shown the real Kunti...

Yes u are correct.. Like everyone else in the epic Kunti too made mistakes and did some unfair things. For instance, she supported division of Draupadi. I used to think it was justified from both Yudhi and Kunti's side but now I feel it is wrong..knowing a few other sides of the incident recently.

Pandu is useless according to me. Its not that he did some great mistake but I don't even consider him because for me he was just useless in the way that Kunti could marry him and become Kuru Kulavadhu 😆 Otherwise he has nothing to do in the whole story. I think if Pandu would have been alive he would very well be useless as he was, and Kunti wasn't a woman who would remain stopped by him. Even KRISHNA could not stop her from doing few things 😉😆
Now coming to Gandhari, Draupadi and Kunti.. I always will choose the last one because she was one woman who truely inspires me.. yes ofcourse..all of them were humans.. some made more mistakes, some made few.. Kunti had done many wrong things.. Like Lakshagriha, Drau division etc. But Gandhari totally lacked sense in the end. The reason I do not blame her that way is because she had reached the end of her tolerance as u rightly said.. you cannot expect sanity from her. As for Draupadi, I have said this millions of times.. Sympathetic characters are meant for gaining sympathy. i can never make them my favourite. But I cannot disagree Draupadi suffered a WHOLE LOT! And she does deserve the sympathy she gets today... What I do not agree with is she being very important in the epic..She was important, but not the heroine of epic for me.. that does nt mean she does not deserve the appreciation she gets.. I hope I dont sound like a Panchaali hater because I am not one..

It is hard to say who is important n who is not.
Like many many people consider Karna as the real hero but I fail to understand his importance except in the war.
If we take Karna out individually, then yes...his was a story to tell. His struggles n all make a very inspiring story.
But is he that important for the epic? That is debatable...some might say yes...some might say no.

Same with Draupadi...I think the reason she gets so much importance is bcoz some of the pivotal events in the epic was related to her...Her marriage played a very important role in the lives of the Pandavas...n her Vastraharan again made the events irreversible n war almost inevitable...well almost.
Please note...Draupadi did not control any of these events...none of these were in her hands...
But since these are events are so important...thus she has become pivotal.
And then some people propagated that she caused the war with her laughter n 'Andha Ka Putra Andha'...one of the most stupid theories of Mahabharat... 🤢 Bcoz of this theory, people started treating her as the 'root cause' for Kurukshetra War...n thus she got treated as a central figure.

For me...NOONE is the hero or heroine in the truest sense. Even if I can consider Draupadi as the heroine, even though she controlled nothing...she does have an aura...bcoz she broke records for many things... 😆, I cannot see Kunti as a hero or heroine...Kunti for me is a dynamic woman...who can get things done her way...She can manipulate n brainwash, all this with a cool n calm mind...She is one hell of a woman...
Usually...such characters are treated like villains...so even if Kunti is hailed as one...she was an awesone villain... 😉

May I say this...that she is like Katerina Petrova of The Vampire Diaries...minus all the bloodsucking.
I loved Katerina...even more than Elena...😉

Amrita.. the part about the villian.. If you look at Shakespeare, who is the most powerful character of Macbeth? Not Banquo, not Macbeth, not Duncan, not the witches, but LADY MACBETH. 😆 Anyways, I too never said Kunti is hero. She is a very important and strong and powerful character for me. Concept of hero is a very complicated topic. It is very subjective. We have a definition of a hero. Its very difficult to say about that. Lets not go into literal theories 😆

BTW U liked Katrina? 😉😆 I like her too 😛

And regarding Karna.. aah.. I think Karna is a hero. But see my reason. See, he is a complete side character. other than one day minus from war, if we remove Karna from the epic the story will not change one bit. Only war will be 16 days 😆 And MB would be 17 Parvas! But why Karna is a hero is that being a side character he attracted so much sympathy. He was the character which being not important at all made an impact on the readers. That is what makes him a hero. (Putra kiska hai? 😉)

Kunti was one of the strongest characters in the epic.
She was one of the few characters who did what she wanted.

Unlike shown in serials it was her decision to set karna in the river(She might have felt bad cause she did ask Surya to make her son just like him, asked for the kavach and kundals and set him knowing that he was protected)

She chose Pandu in the swayamwar

She also said she will not go for more kids

I think it takes great guts to bring up 5 kids on your own

She never asked her biological or her foster family for help
She only poured out her troubles to Krishna

Her biggest mastermind strategy were tricking the woman and her 5 kids so that
she and her sons can escape the wax palace
and going to Karna before the war

Was it wrong maybe was it brilliant undoubtedly

Also, Draupadi division was a master strategy. I think she had great thinking and planning behind every deed of hers... phenomenal woman...

You are free to disagree.. Anyways, its over! :D

But one thing..we cannot discuss any character without talking about the other characters. For example, how can you discuss Draupadi, without bringing in Arjun/Krishna/Yudhishthir/Kunti/Bhim etc.? Is it really possible?

Lastly, I disagree regarding why Draupadi is glorifies but I will stay out of this topic as you rightly pointed out this is Kunti DT, and let us stick to Kunti's character as far as possible if not in context we have to bring in another one. 😃

Nice to see you here!

I love Kunti the most as of now. She indeed was the most powerful woman in Mahabharata, in my personal opinion. I like Kunti despite of her all flaws. She was a woman who always thought "what can be done now, not what can be done tomorrow". Certainly, had there been no Kunti, most of the great MB characters would have been satisfied by two lines in entire book. Kunti was very clever, cunning, calculative, manipulative, shrewd & vengeful which all hopefully we will never see in any MB related shows or novels. SidT could have made a show on Kunti given his love for whitewashing her. [LOL]
