Mods are also very trigger happy randomly editing posts saying it violates IF COC- what part of coc does a post violate? Ex character A can be called abusive cause that don't violate COC apparently,

For the clearly uninitiated, Chapri IS a bad word.

It is a casteist slur and has casteist origin. It comes from the word 'chappar'/chaparbhand community, caste of roof masons, menders, thatchers and weavers. Chappar has its roots in kaccha huts/houses. It's just not some tiktok/Gen-Z slang. And if we talk about it in the later terms, it is highly classist. A derogatory term that started being used for people from the lower strata of society, especially in Maharashtra it was used for people who lived in slums.

Therefore the origin and the present use of the word 'Chapri' has both classist and casteist connotations.

It's 2023, nobody should be allowed to use casteist/classist slurs on India forums of all places. Good on mods if they stopped the usage of that word regardless of how many people use it in sheer ignorance everyday without having any knowledge or clue about the proper etymology of it.

Thank you for educating me. I don't know most Indian slurs and swear words. Nevertheless, it was obvious to me that describing a character as "abusive" (i.e. mistreating another character) is legitimate discussion of the story, and saying that a character behaves like a so-and-so is foul language.

India Forums should have zero tolerance for racist, casteist, classist, disability-shaming, fat-shaming, misogynistic, homophobic, or transphobic slurs, whether directed at entire communities or at individual members. Offensive posts that are reported must be DT-noted/edited out/removed, not left unchallenged to cause harm day after day.

Moving a mudslinging topic to the Debate Mansion is not an acceptable response. Intimidation is not debate.

LGBTQ+ individuals should be able to visit India Forums without seeing posts that insult them as "pedophiles" or misgender trans women as "men" invading women's privacy. When one member calls another "obsessed with kids" and insinuates that he must be a criminal, that is slander, not debate.

I am yet to find how users go through 500 pages of a single topic.

We will soon be working on a way where we get the option of filtering the post by number of Reactions it gets. This helps in identifying the most liked posts in the given topic instead of browsing 150 pages.

@bold; but the old users of the site burnt through 919 pages (link in 2nd post of last page)....granted we won't even be able to go till 500 pages , but as user La_Reine pointed out it would be nice to have a set of discussions in a single thread rather than jumping around in various threads...I'm currently active at vanshaj forum the show started just a month ago but we already burnt through 3 EDT's...sometimes the last page of a topic contains some interesting discussion point but before we can quote it the thread gets locked and that discussion point is left hanging in that thread itself...that's why i was asking for an extension of page limit per thread...

I agree. There are pros and cons of both.

if we have long threads it's hard to navigate and find things it would be nice if we can perform advance search the thread by usernames or partial words or date range of posts so that we don't have issues in finding posts.

Yeah it's easy to create one post for edt and chat club where we know the thread will definitely exceed more than 150 pages that way the conversations will not have to be shifted to a new thread.

May be we can have different types of post. Where long posts are specially meant for edt and chat club which can exceed more than 150 pages and only moderators can create them. Other ppl can only create normal post.

We value each member's perspective on various problems. But this isn't the place to discuss it.

Please raise the issue in the appropriate forum and seek attention from the forum moderators, through sending PM expressing your concerns and complaints.

i have raised a suggestion to get notification on posts edited by mods, not here to discuss regarding mods.

if forum moderators were helpful people wouldnt be cribbing about a banner contest not 2 pages ago. kindly let me know which thread i should post cause its like any question related to moderation is shut down without any replies. this is a website to chill and discuss not dictatorship.

You have every right to express your concerns and suggestions regarding Notifications here. 😊Yes, this is the right thread to discuss certain site related issues.

You mentioned the banner contest issue, so please bear with me as your friend.

I am not speaking as a mod of this forum; rather, I am speaking as a member of the India forums, which belong to me, to you, and to every other member of this site. This is our nest, which has set up a platform for us to discuss, share, and debate the things we value most in the appropriate forums. It's like a flowering branch on which we sit and discuss multiple topics.

I was hurt to see the tweets criticising a few characters and, most significantly, the graphicers who created the banner/s. Creativity is a highly valued skill, but are we disrespecting our own friends on the other site as a result of fan wars and subsequent disagreements? Isn't it similar to pruning the flowering branch where we sit and exchange happy thoughts?

I don't know who belongs to which group, but defaming IF and our highly creative graphicers pained me, which is why I am sharing my anguish and concern with you all.

We have Moderators>> Channel Moderators>> Global Moderators who have numerous years of experience and make every decision with wisdom, and precision.

We have an understanding and highly regarded guide in Vijay. Send your issues and complaints to any of these higher authorities, and they will resolve them. However, please do not propagate negativity to other sites and do not attack any creativity, which deserves praise rather than insult.

This is my earnest appeal to all of my India Forums' members.

See, if people go through one thread of 150 pages, then that means they would go through thread #2 #3 etc too, so what's the point of making a new thread when we can just carry on in one thread? I understand a thread going over 2k pages may be too much, but maybe limit can be increased to at least 500 instead of 150. I feel 150 is too less.

Important links, notes and all are added on the first page anyway or in the thread title.
