I am a mother of 9 and 15 yr old. We are in uk. My 9 yr still cannot bear to see romantic scenes and hides his face. The content that we share here is meant for an adult mind and sensibilities and a child's brain should not read that as that confuses him before he is ready. I would be horrified if my 9 yr old is reading such stuff. His reading content is also filtered to be for his age group. The same applies to the online games that he plays as there are so many paedophiles who are hunting little kids.
I am not just talking about 18+ content. The episode discussions are very mature.

My 15 yr old is does not have a Facebook as her school was seriously against it even though minimum age for Facebook is 13. A young teenager can easily get bullied and shamed on Facebook in case of any fights. This has driven teenagers to suicide as they can succumb to peer pressure. Secondly, without correct privacy settings, they let the whole world know about themselves. Social media should be used responsibily and with correct education on how to use it else can make your life hell.

15 should be the minimum age for the forum as then the discussion can be done freely without worrying over who is reading it. if an 8-10 yr old child of that age was sitting around us, we would be careful about what we speak so the same applies here. This forum is where we can discuss freely and having a young child reading all this has worried me. I would like to report this. What is the best way?

discussing about love at this age is too young. It is not about you, i was concerned seeing 10 year old discussing in this forums.it has somuch of Adult content or topics way too high for young innocent minds like yours . It was not to offend you. Another point is you couldnot differenciate our concern and thought we were pointing at you( which was not the intention) which we were not. Why would we want to upset 10 year old kid, we defnitely would not.. :)

I personally think its next to impossible thing.
Since this is a virtual place, where we all are unware about each other's identities. There is absolutely no guarantee about anything said by anyone. Its all about the trust.

Even if the site is restricted as 18+ , its not a big deal to lie about age because again, there is no proof of the age we put here. In fact no one does put it.

I believe its the call of parents to keep their kids and environment around them safe. And also, a kid should know whats good for their age [ I did know what should I go for in my childhood... hehe trying to be funny but thats true]

I, in the first place dont get how parents allow phones in this age!

PS::: One more thing is, I still prefer cartoons over tv serials [LOL] . Atleast they dont annoy as much as serials do now.

I agree that parents play the biggest role is protecting their children. However, as a social responsibility the minimum this forum site can do is display the minimum age requirement at the time of signing up. This will deter quite a few as then will know that they are doing something that they should not be.
Only if kids knew what was good for them. I do not think the child is wrong here as obviously she/he does not know what they are doing and its suitability but we do know and I for one feel, we cannot simply dismiss this as not our problem,

Even I feel that we need age restriction here like atleast 15+
There is so much adult stuff, violence etc that we discuss here
But I don't know how effective it would be, fb id or mail id for confirmation?
But that too can be easily made na?

Like everyone said, it's just too early for 10 year olds to watch these type of shows. Daily soaps have too much of negativity and regressive content and it can easily affect the young minds. Also kids shouldn't talk about love and romance at this age. But that's not enough. People here on IF can be really mean and nasty at times. TV shows forums are still fine, but in Bollywood forum fanwars happen daily. Its just not a good place for kids. They cannot handle such negativity. Hell, I'm 24 and I still watch some cartoons and small kids have started watching saas bahu shows. Makes me feel ashamed, lolz.

Definitely. I remember we used to have a 14 yr old around earlier and we used to tiptoe around certain topics.
The thing is even on FB and Twitter kids hold accounts. Parents need to be more proactive of course, but the responsibility also lies with such sites to ensure that underage kids do not have accounts here.

There cannot be a serious restriction pulled up on any forum I myself joined IF when I was 15. QH forum had really mature stuff (some). But it did not effect me, true that I was uncomfortable with the writings of some but I had a choice to not read the story.
And I did that I left the story immediately if I felt uncomfortable. So rather than banning someone for forum educate the little ones to not read stuff that is mature. TV serials these days in india have become so forward with all those kissing scenes and stuff that even if children's parents are watching the show they get to know stuff.

Banning is not correct talking to them and explaining it to them should be done.

10 yr olds should not be left unsupervised online. Not done. I'm a mom and no way is my kid coming here to talk about the show.
Parents should police their kids. There are stuff out there that young minds should not see. Period.

I do not think watching somebody kiss can harm a kids brain. It is the regressive human behaviour and violence which kids need to be protected until an age they are not impressionable. The discussions here is very mature, divorce, human relationships etc which is not suitable.

The site does have the responsibility to display a minimum age requirement when signing up. All sites do that. It may lead to some kids still joining but they are then doing that inspite of the warning. You'd be surprised most kids will read the age limit and follow it as everybody does not believe in breaking rules and do understand that the limit means something. It's the same with movies. Most kids will know they cannot watch A rated movies. Most will follow the rule but some might break it. By having a warning we can at least protect most.
