Hello Myself Piyali...To tell more about me I am 14 years old , I don't know you categorize me as a kid or an Adolescent or a Teen but saw this topic , actually I joined IF when I was 13 and I watch daily soaps from my childhood (Ok I am still a child)and I feel there's no harm for us to visit forum , to be honest I don't read stories which are 16 or 18 plus or even the one's with titles like that and I feel it depends on the child , I mean we need to make choices at this age and we need to decide the correct choice our self , I think adolescence is all about changes at the end and only we can make choices , if we like a certain show then I don't think there's a harm in watching it and writing or reading on it , its just that we need to make the correct choice , I don't think age restriction to be good at the end as it is , it may even provoke children to lie about their age to be on the forum, I don't think anybody will stop entering the forum due to it , about the show , I don't think Indian Television anywhere offers the content that we children should not watch except for some shows and some scenes which can be easily skipped by children , I think creating awareness for children is a more natural way then restricting them to enter the forum...I watch cartoons as well as shows which are somewhere good (I really think that I am able to differentiate between right and wrong)...to conclude , I really don't like the idea of Age Restrictions but its just my point of view and I suppose many want age restriction..Maybe I am the wrong one but still...they are just my thought...

And I did that I left the story immediately if I felt uncomfortable. So rather than banning someone for forum educate the little ones to not read stuff that is mature. TV serials these days in india have become so forward with all those kissing scenes and stuff that even if children's parents are watching the show they get to know stuff.

Banning is not correct talking to them and explaining it to them should be done.

Well, how many kids will talk to adults about these stuff openely, if you are watching the show along with parent and adult they will explain you what is good and bad, that is different,

when you are in these online forums, it is not edited or monitored by them. and here many adult stuff is discussed, unsupervised access to this forums is not good for any kids below 18+ . but i also know the problem as people can fool there age to register in the forums . For a reason Hollywood movies are serials have options mentioning age restrictions at least. and i wish Indian serials also start that... the amount of violence and adult content these days has grown toomuch for kids to watch.

The site does have the responsibility to display a minimum age requirement when signing up. All sites do that. It may lead to some kids still joining but they are then doing that inspite of the warning. You'd be surprised most kids will read the age limit and follow it as everybody does not believe in breaking rules and do understand that the limit means something. It's the same with movies. Most kids will know they cannot watch A rated movies. Most will follow the rule but some might break it. By having a warning we can at least protect most.

Yup , I do , I remember My sister asking me if I want to watch Udta Punjab and I was like , What , its A Rated...( PS: Diljit is my favorite actor )

You are right ...you put it well...yes we need the warning, everything will have loop holes but most of them will try to refrain if we put a warning .

Since this is a virtual place, where we all are unware about each other's identities. There is absolutely no guarantee about anything said by anyone. Its all about the trust.

Even if the site is restricted as 18+ , its not a big deal to lie about age because again, there is no proof of the age we put here. In fact no one does put it.

I believe its the call of parents to keep their kids and environment around them safe. And also, a kid should know whats good for their age [ I did know what should I go for in my childhood... hehe trying to be funny but thats true]

I, in the first place dont get how parents allow phones in this age!

PS::: One more thing is, I still prefer cartoons over tv serials 😆 . Atleast they dont annoy as much as serials do now.

couldn't agree more...u said everything that i had in mind regarding this topic

Piyali, sweetie do your parents know you have an online account? Are you on FB or other social media platforms?
Here is the thing. Online, you can't see the people. There are lots of predators online. I'm a mom and it's scary to think what's out there.
You are a teen but to me you are a kid. I'm pretty sure I'm old enough to be your mom.
It's not about stopping kids from watching IB or other soaps. It's about protecting young minds and our young.
You can watch the show, it's the coming online without any adult supervision that's the issue here.
There are reasons why us parents have rules.
Lots of love little one.

Yup dii , they do know...I don't have accounts on any social networking site but on writing sites like Tellyupdates and Wattpad , I know that dii but the reason for me joining these sites is only and only that I don't have too many friends or say true friends in real life , I am a kind of introvert , I know the reason for your care and its valid and I am serious , I don't reveal anything about me that can harm me later , I just reveal what I think is not wrong , thanks a lot for the advice...Really your concern really has a meaning and I'll always keep it in mind...will never do anything that is not meant for me...Love you...😃

It is practically impossible to ban ppl under a certain age coz despite age limit, if some key wants to circumvent they will... Hving said that there definitely needs to be some monitoring... Kids shudnt b exposed to daily content without monitoring... Being a mom I know how scary that feeling is... But frankly it is upto the parents... I believe sites should ask for age proof before letting users in...
