How about adding an "Ignore User" option?

Basically, there will be an 'Ignore' button at the bottom of every user's post:

You click on it and it will ask for a confirmation (screenshot from another forum I visit):

If you click 'Yes' that user will be added to your Ignore List which means:

  • You will not be able to see that user's posts anywhere.
  • You will not be able to see any threads created by that user.
  • That user will be added to your PM/scrap Block List preventing them from contacting you by private messages or scraps (optional)

Essentially that person will become invisible to you. For all intents and purposes (s)he won't exist for you and you can live in peace provided you can control your urge to see just what that person might be saying behind your back.

A natural side-effect will be reduced entertainment on the forums for the rest of us but that is a price one must pay for the greater good I suppose.

I'm all for this. Many forums have it and the feature would greatly cut down on all the flame wars that escalate into headaches.

Then it's more about using personal discretion to reply rather than impulse. The fights would still be a lot less in comparison.

i totally agree i visit bolly forum but some ppl create fight there and for this reason i only read the topic and give a thanks reply so that i don get into those fight but this is really troubling that i can't post there cz of those ppl who unnecessarily drags their nose into kareenas topic.they start bashing and creating fight which i don like at all after all we do have some respect whereas we're not getting thats why i refrain from their but i want to participate in a healthy discussion too
