Its an innocent little shot that you dont mind displaying to people. But WOW, did I learn a lesson. Coz apparently, psychos from IF hunt down your facebook profile, oogle at your cover photo, then open up a topic in India Forums and describe it in detail such as "having sex with kids". Thank God Vijay implemented the no link feature, otherwise I'm sure my photo would have been displayed as well.

But oh, does that make things any better? The fact that my real name is being used with abusing and insulting language has some impact, you know.

And we're supposed to be careful.

Now I've gone and deleted my cover photo as well coz I'm being stalked. Just like MrsNealCaffrey said, way to blame the girls wearing certain types of clothing, that they asked to be raped.

Excuse me, but people who dont have stalkers on their backs have put up cover shots on facebook.

I will once again request that newbies not allowed to post topics until they have a certain number of posts.

Please.

So now they cant harass us via PM, but what good is that if they can just come and humiliate us in public?

Their strength is the ability to make new IDs right? So lets just take that power away from that. Disarm the weapon. Make newbies start off weak, but then WORK up the ladder to acquire the privilege to post topics, PM, etc etc.

Yeah, but I'm so glad that something's finally being done about this Dex. This is a huge step up for IF!

Just finished going through all the pages on this topic. And itts about time to bring in some strong measures to prevent misuse of the PM feature with the growing size of the site.

So here are a few changes that we are working on:

a) Newbies cannot post images / hyperlinks in PMs also

b) IPs are logged for each PM and we are giving access to the Admin Group and to our inhouse security team to trace and help our Dev Team in identifying problem members.

c) Members will have the option to restrict PMs to be recieved from their Buddies only.

d) Report Offensive PMs directly so that it goes directly to the Inhouse Security Team or selected individuals who will be able to see the reported PMs and take appropriate action.

We hope all this should take care of 90% of the problem. We will be monitoring the situation and see how all these things will solve the issue and what else we need to work on.

Thank you Vijay. I'm glad to see that something is finally being done about this problem. What about the restrictions on newbies opening threads and posting pics and hyperlinks on the forum?

Also, do the same for scraps: log IPs of individual scraps, we should have the option of allowing scraps only from Buddies and the ability to report offensive scraps.


Like others have said, we should have the ability to hide our post history from other members. Otherwise these freaks are going through members' history and using that info against them/manipulate them, etc.

Also, there should be an initial period during which avatars and video/image signature capabilities should not be available to newbies. Text is fine but no pics. Otherwise nothing is preventing them from putting up someone's private pics in their sigbox or something.

Please ask your coders to modify the system so that IPs of individual PMs are logged like that of posts. Currently this is not possible and the freaks take full advantage of this fact. It should also be possible to report PMs and scraps like we can report posts.

Implement security measures against proxies, keep a running list of suspected IPs, etc. Yes you can't make it foolproof but take steps to make things harder for the creeps.

Also, I've seen banned/deleted members' PMs are erased from the system. This is problematic as it means we lose evidence of the harassment. So do something about this (maybe move the problematic PMs - as indicated by the victim - to some secure forum accessible only by admin).

It would be nice if you consider these ideas as well. 😊

Hey guys,

This thread was supposed to be open for suggestions and inputs from member's side about the newbie issue. Instead I do see a lot of personal attacks and fight between members. Such fight will just blow main issue out of proportion.

If you have doubts about MIDs, PM the respective DT with proof and they will do the needful. And kindly do not accuse each other without any valid proof, it will just create havoc between the members, which is not necessary. Kindly keep this thread free from personal attacks, fight and quarrel and let it serve its purpose.

Coming back to the main issue, now that Vijay have replied and promised to implement the new features, I hope it will prevent the problems bollywood forum members have faced recently.

Came to this section to check something else and I saw this topic! Pathetic bunch of losers! I seriously think its not just one person who is behind this dirty act..There might be a gang who takes turns and keeps a tab on the happenings in the forum..It indeed is a scary thought that somebody can stalk you and humiliate you in front of public..Dont understand what pleasure they are getting by doing this..Oh Hello, dont waste your time on some random celebrities..Fight for the ones who truly love and care for you..But then I honestly feel the one who is doing this may not be an Ash fan..He/She might be doing this so that people will start hating Ash just like the way he/she does..Recently I have seen so many examples of fake fans in BS itself.😆.Sometimes hatred can be stronger and more intense than love!

Anyways I have read the members suggestions about improving the privacy protection in IF..Hope Vijay seriously implements all those..IF really is a stress buster for many including me..It should stay the same in future also..
