Holy. I checked this thread like a day ago and it was only on one page.
The majority of IF, is very much biased. Personally, I've never experienced anything, but friends of mine and just people I don't even know have been insulted openly in front of people, which is completely not acceptable.
I do not think the major problem here is the mods, that's just more like the icing on the cake. Some members of this forum absolutely refuse to hear criticism against their show, characters or actors. For about the past year, the only place I had been really active in was the Kis Desh forum, so I had been very oblivious to the problems raised in this topic, but this past summer, to kill time, I went surfing. Big mistake.
If you go to the Kis Desh forum, you'll find Epi Discussion threads (where members give other members updates of the show as it airs), appreciation threads, members have flooded the forum with their FF's or one-shots, making VM's, currently fighting against SP because of (what we believe) is an unfair moving of the time slot which the show airs on. There are constant updates, within an hour of the show airing, there are back up updaters. Members have invented phrases for when the lead pair holds hands, looks at each other in the eye, hug, etc. The point is, the members there are bonkers about the show.
In the same forum, we have topics criticizing the sets, the plot line, the dialogues, in some cases, the acting of certain actors be it the leads or supporters. Some believe the show has hit its all time low now, with dubbing constantly being used, the forum is in an uproar with frustration with Heer's (the lead) character and her refusing manner. Totally healthy discussions. No unnecessary remarks at anyone, no use of attitude, the discussion is about the show, and the show only. This forum I think has only had a handful of warnings, and if I remember correctly, none were given out to a single person alone, it was more about repeated topics, spamming etc. This forum has never had such disgusting problems. Some of the credit goes to the mods for being fair and if there was a problem, they heard out both sided, equally and fairly, but the credit also goes to the members for being able to take criticism and realizing the show, is just a show.
In my mind, that is what a discussion forum is supposed to be like.
Some members are so narrow minded, and completely refuse to hear another side of a story or problem. There are two forums in specific that just literally wreck havoc if another members decided to make a topic saying "perhaps the couple's chemistry was a bit off" or something along those lines. God knows how much TRP's dropped because fangirls drove people out of the forum. The day people realize that shows are just shows, something can be done.
The problem here isn't mods refusing to hear sides. The problem is members not being able to digest anything but their own POV. Some mods know how to handle crazy fan girls like pro's. Others - not so much.
