From Telugu version synopsis on Hotstar .. 😛

Lakshmi Kalyanam is a Telugu family drama on Maa TV. This is a tale of two sisters, Lakshmi and Swathi. Lakshmi runs a small embroidery shop to earn her living and support her sister's education. She had to marry Kalyan in order to get her sister married to Vinod. She also agrees to get her uterus removed as per the condition of Rajeswari Devi, mother of Kalyan and Vinod . How will Lakshmi's life turn out after her sacrifice?

After reading I hope they make some changes in the Tamil version .. This seems too pessimistic and a typical MIL - DIL story .. 😒

Reminds me of Pirivom Santhipom and DTV 😆 But here MIL is evil and sister is nice (at first anyway) ..

thanks krituma here goes the article - In the midst of fantasy serials, Vijay television is all set to launch a new serial from February 7. Lakshmi Kalyanam, a family drama, will replace the popular serial Kalyanam Mudhal Kadhal Varai at 9.30 pm.

The story revolves around two sisters Lakshmi and Swathi who have lost their mother at a young age. Lakshmi runs a small embroidery shop and takes good care of her sister Swathi. Lakshmi's life takes a huge turn, when she does a sacrifice for her.

While news anchor Deepika plays Lakshmi, Sathya Sai plays Swathi. Television actress Yuvarani plays the role Rajeshwari, the antagonist. Actor Shyam of Jodi fame and Television actor Ashwin are also part of the star cast. The show is directed by AR Ramesh, who has directed movies like Ini Elam sugame, Thayagam and etc. Director of Photography for this new fiction is A Ramesh Kumar, who has worked in films like Oomai Vizhigal and Captain Prabhakaran. The show will be aired from Monday to Friday.

So yuvarani is back on screen? I like this actress. She plays well villi character. Looking forward for this serial.

MIL still the same as during her Chithi days as 'Prabha' ... 😆

Sons .. One is DK from Thamarai (Ashwin) and the other is AA Rathnam

The girls mother - she was in Ponnunjal as Akila .. as well as Vani Rani as Agalya ... Sad end for her in firs episode itself 😭

Girls' father not mentioned - perhaps later entry

First episode was nice but periya buildup for the MIL 😆😆 Was like Neelambari re-entry in Padayappa after her vana vaasam ... 🤣

MIL's driver is Malar's bro from Nadhaswaram .. 😃

OMG 😲
This serial is too DRAMATIC. Rombo overa irunthathu Yuvashri's intro and all. The heroine character is too filmy and also she doesn't look like a main lead to me. I don't think I can watch this drama anymore 😡

Watched first 2 episode and decided idhu podhum nu. Kind of shock vijaytv is airing this type of serial. Its more like SunTv serial lolz. All the build up and Yuvarani with over make up - nothing suit her here. Her natural villy back then was way better. The both sisters - younger one looks like akka to the elder sister. Definitely not worth watching the rest. Especially like meenu ka said removing of uterus ets sounds very depressing and more to SunTv style 😆

Exactly my feelings. Over Sentiment and Over buildup. Think the director, script writer and all are still in 1950 era 😆.

Exactly, what happened to Vijay TV's original series 😭 .. wish they put a stop to remakes and come up with an original story .. I think now Mappillai and SM are the only ones. (Adhuvum they are stretching SM sooo long)

Loved all the old classics .. kadhaiku panjamaa enna.. 😛

I feel they can come up with a better and unique storyline ..

Indeed this looks more like Sun TV serial .. BGM, script ellam romba dramatic-a irukku .. 😆
