Detailed Update - 16 January 07

Meera is gettign ready for her marriage. She is looking fabulous in her red bridal dress and jewellery.she's thinking about her words with Veer when Alaka comes inside the room. She is very happy to see her daughter in a bride's dress and blesses her. Meera asks her whether she had been able to fulfil her role as a [erfect daughter, Alaka cries and blesses her. She then asks Meera to open the door when she's ready an dthat she will be nearby to take her down. Ira comes and tells Meera that everyone is waiting for the bride to appear so that the wedding may be held. She request both Alaka and Meera not to cry then but to ave their tears for the vidaai.

Once Alaka leaves, Abhi comes and tells Meera that he had told Veer the truth about their relationship but Veer had refused to say NO to the marriage cos it would lower his parents' head in public. Meera tells Abhi that the final moment has come and that she has to get married to Veer to fulfil her Mother's wish. And that Abhi should try to forgive her for her choice. Abhi goes away crying.

Meera comes out of her room and Alaka takes her down a few steps. She then tells Meera that her journey with Meera ends their since she cannot step into the pious marriage zone since she is a widow. On Ira's insistence, Suli comes and takes Meera away to the mandap. Before that when Alaka is blessing Meera by placing her hand on Meera's head, Suli removes Alaka's hand. Veer notices all this and remembers Meera's words how this marriage would end all chances of her Mother to lead a normal life.

Abhi goes to the Puja room and questions God that although Meera worships him regularly how ocme he had given her so much

Alaka is standing beside Ammaji at a distance and is observing everything. Ira takes Veer to Alaka and introduces him to her. Alaka tells Veer that Meera is her life and heart and that he should always take care of her. Meera also has a clear conscience and heart and that's why veer should forgive her for her mistakes and guide her in life. Veer nods his affirmation and goes to touch Alaka's feet. Alaka moves away backwards and then blesses him to stay happy all his life. Veer notices all these also and seems to be in a dilemma. He also catches Ira and SUli talking rubbish about ALaka and is not very happy.

Once they leave, Ammaji tells Alaka that she should not be present in the marriage area and should also not show herself to either Meera and/ or Veer. Alaka agrees to it but requests Ammaji to allow her to embrace Meera once when she leaves for her in-laws place. Ammaji tells her that she can embrace Meera when she reurns after a few days for other marriage rituals. Alaka bends down in front of Ammaji but Ammaji stays unmoved. Veer notices this too.

Finally Ira escorts Veer to the marriage place while SUli brings Meera and makes her sit beside him. As the wedding progresses, Veer remembers Meera's words at the hospital and also ABhi's words that Meera loved Abhi and vice versa. Ira is tying the bride's pallu with the groom's dupatta, when veer pulls away his dupatta and tells everyone that he cannot marry Meera. Everyone is stunned including Meera.

I do not understand why Ammaji can be present everywhere but Alaka cannot be present for her own daughters' wedding even from a distance.
