@Ashi yes they worshipped Mother Goddess. But not in the fierce form like Kali which you see in Kerala, TN. They worshipped her more as Gauri, Annapo*na at the most Durga in a way in benevolent form

Da vinci code was a good book, a beautiful puzzle. Actually Ashwin Sanghi's Krishna Key was an attempt to Indianize Da Vinci code and I can tell he failed miserably.

Shruthi, I think IvC was before the Aryan civilization. As you mentioned Dravidian culture gives equal or higher place to goddess. Without shakthi there is no existence for shiva.

Kannagi's story is just beautiful narrated in one of the five tamil kaviyam- large poetry - silapathigaram. She is one of the pathi vrathai who fought verbally against the pandya king who killed her husband without proper investigation and her purity burns madurai down.
