FINAL -Chapter 5 -
Lakshman looked toward Urmila , his eyes was filled with
tears , he moved his hand to touch Urmila 's face but he
recalled Urmila words that he has lost her . The moment he
realised this , he stopped his hand and get up and tried to
move out of chamber though he was not able to walk
properly .
Urmila stood up seeing him that he was moving towards the door.
"You r not well Swami , where are u going?" asked Urmila anxiously.
Lakshman stopped, he turned towards Urmila "I am going to such place from where returning of me is impossible " said Lakshman sighing.
Tears rolled from Urmila eyes but she wiped her tears and she calmed herself because she knew now it her time to console him , she knew that Lakshman was saying this because she only said to him that he has lost her.
Urmila moved towards him and holded his hands and took him towards the bed.
"Sit here" said Urmila with brave smile .
Lakshman sat on bed and Urmila sat beside him.
Lakshman looked at her.
Urmila took his hand in her and Lakshman looked at her.
Tell me , will u break your word to your mother like Sita didi , She took care of u like a mother during your exile . She told me that Lakshman always used to work so hard for us , he always kept himself busy whole day , he not took rest untill when his Ram bhaiya and i forced him . She told me that Lakshman had a bad habit of not eating the food when we used to call him , he always make an excuse that he will eat in some time , don't worry. U used to say that you both have food and again started doing work but your some time never end . This used to annoy Sita didi too much .Sita didi feed u with her hands like a caring mother and Ram bhaiya used to smile bright seeing this kind of mother-son relation.
She told me her worst memory of exile and that was when she was informed by Trijata that u was attacked with Shakti spear by Meghnath. She said that it was the worst incident that happened in our life , she said that she didn't trust that it can happen , no one can defeat her lakshman but later she was assured by Trijata. She got hell scared about your unconsciousness , she prayed to Maa Gauri and prayed for your health. She got so much undefined happiness when she got to know that u were being saved by Pavanputra Hanuman.
"Will u want to go breaking this beautiful bond , Swami" Urmila said looking at him with brimming tears.
Lakshman sighed with tears.
"Sumitra Maa told me about your deep attachment with Jijashree Ram. She told me when you was just 2 days old , u was crying continuously without break and also u did not have the food. Maa Sumitra and Pitajee Dashrath wanted to know the reason of your crying. When they asked Guru Vashishta about this , he told them by his divine vision that the physical separation from your Brother Ram was the reason of your continuous crying . Sumitra maa took u to Maa Kaushalya chamber and as soon she kept u with Jijashree Ram in his cradle , You stopped crying and started enjoying the bliss of your brother Ram company , smiling brightly. U even began taking food after that. From then , u both were kept together in same cradle for sleep".
Lakshman smiled hearing this with tearful eyes.
"Will u want to go breaking this beautiful bond that u shared with your Ram bhaiya", said Urmila.
Lakshman did not replied but tears were flowing from his eyes .
"Tell me , will u want to go leaving our child who is growing in my womb" , saying this , tears started rolling from her eyes too.
Lakshman looked at her with tears.
"Will u want to go leaving your Mila , tell me" , said Urmila with broken voice.
Lakshman burst crying .
"U only said that...", said Lakshman with broken voice but Urmila put her hand on his mouth.
"Never say that again", said Urmila crying.
"Swami , I am feeling so much guilty of my deeds ,i don't know from which face , i should say sorry to u , i am ashamed of myself", said Urmila crying with a tinge of anger from herself.
"No Urmila , no need to say sorry dear "said lakshman holding her hands with tears.
"I am , I said so much to you without knowing your situation, u must have expected that i will understand your feelings but no , i gave u more pain by saying all that. I lose my control on myself , Please forgive me" , said Urmila folding her hands and crying.
"No Mila, please don't do this , I knew that the Mila that was standing in front of me was not my wife at that moment , she was my bhabhi's concerned sister. But , when u said that i have lost u , i can't control myself, i felt sudden darkness in my life, my head started spinning and paining so severely , you started appearing blur to me and in no moment i fall unconscious on floor." said Lakshman.
"When u were not opening your eyes even when your fever decreased to much level , I got so scared , i was scared that why are u not opening your eyes and began crying heavily because i thought because of me you suffered so much pain , but by god's sake , i felt so much happiness when u opened your eyes , I did not want to lost u at any cost again" said Urmila hugging him crying.
"Don't worry dear ,i will be always with u" , said Lakshman consoling him.
Urmila break the hug and wiped his tears . She was now in her bubbly and naughty mood.
"Smile , Swami , now no more tears , i want to see that's all", said Urmila smiling.
Lakshman smiles lightly.
"No !!!" , Said Urmila frowning.
"No , this is not a good smile , smile like me" said Urmila smiling brightly.
Lakshman couldn't control himself seeing her funny antics and began laughing.
"Hmmm..., this is the smile , i wanted to see on your face", said happy Urmila.
"U look very good when u smile , keep smiling like this always", said blushing Urmila.
Lakshman smiled looking at her.
"Ok , now take rest , u are not so well " , said concerned Urmila.
Lakshman put his head on her lap and closed his eyes, he find happiness in form of Urmila in his difficult times . Urmila smiled and ruffled his hairs.
Lakshman goes to deep sleep in some time .
" I am so happy to see you sleeping so peacefully", said Urmila in her thoughts.
Ram moves towards the chamber of Lakshman , just to see his dear brother fine , his heart was restless. Again due to his king's duties , he had to leave his brother when he was unwell. His steps were increasing as he moved towards Lakshman's chamber.
"Urmila , my Lakshman" , Entered Ram worriedly inside the chamber .
"Shhh...", Urmila signals him .
He sees that his dear brother just like an innocent kid was sleeping so peacefully on his Mila's lap . Ram heart fill of joy that Lakshman is well and he is in peace.
He moved towards his Lakshman , sat beside him , he remembered the days when they both spent with Vishwamitra during their childhood when Lakshman was not able to sleep properly because he had a habit of sleeping after Sumitra Maa 's lullaby. Lakshman used to turn left and then right , then left and then straight . Lakshman was not finding that peace in sleep like in Ayodhya . But it's not that he doesn't noticed his dear younger brother .
He used to get up and took Lakshman's head on his lap and then ruffled his hair in the same way like his Sumitra Maa did in Ayodhya . It doesn't take much time for Lakshman to go in deep sleep. After making him sleep he too used to sleep holding him .
"Urmila , I am going for now as i don't want to disturbed my dear brother's peaceful sleep" said ram with a gentle smile.
"Ok Jijashree , go and take some rest, u stayed awake full night yesterday" said Urmila in a very low voice.
"Urmila please inform me when he wake up , i want to meet him", said a concerned Ram .
Urmila nodded with bright smile.
Ram then ruffling Lakshman's hairs put a lovingly kiss on his dear brother's forehead and take his way to his chamber.
Lakshman realised his Ram bhaiya 's touch and he woke up.
Ram reached till the door when he heard the word "Ram bhaiya" from his Lakshman .
Ram turned towards him to see Lakshman in happy tears sitting on bed , Ram heart fill of joy and tears brimmed in his eyes.
"Lakshman , my dear brother" said Ram so happily with flowing tears in his lotus eyes.
Ram spread his arms ,"Come to me, Lakshman" !!
Seeing his brother Ram , he felt immense energy in his whole body , he ran to him.
He goes too hug him but realised that he hurted his Ram bhaiya too much by leaving him so he touched his feet instead of hugging him.
Ram stops him , "What are u doing Lakshman?"
Lakshman cries , "I am sorry bhaiya , i have hurted u ".
Ram wiped his tears but tears started rolling from his eyes too ,"No Lakshman , no need to say this , instead , it was i who hurted u so much , made u go through the biggest dilemma of your life. Because of me u suffered too much , Urmila told me everything that happened with u and even imagining your situation is very difficult for me . I am really very sorry my brother".
"No bhaiya , i want your love and nothing else and elders r the ones who gives blessings and not ask forgiveness from younger" said Lakshman holding Ram's hands.
Ram looked at him and smiled through tears.
He then hugged him tightly and Ram-Lakshman embrace was so beautiful and fill with deep love for each other that Urmila had happy tears in her eyes.
"Sita didi said very true , this two are two bodies but one soul", said Urmila in her thoughts.
Bharat and Shatrughan too came in after completing their duties and seeing Lakshman all fine , they both ran and hugged him tight.
Ram and Urmila looked towards each other and then at them and smiled.
Mothers came back in Ayodhya after many days . They were happy and excited to meet everyone.
But as soon as they entered , they did not find the palace as bright and full as before , they sensed that something wrong has happened, their anxiety was increasing as they were moving inside.
"Where are Ram and Sita" asked Kaushalya to one of the servants.
"King Ram is in Lakshman's room and Queen Sita had been sent to forest", replied servant.
The 3 mothers got extremely shocked.
"What !!!!!" Mothers said in unison.
"Yes , it is true ", replied servant.
"Who has sent my Sita to forest and why ??" ,asked Kaikeyi.
"King Ram has abandon her wife Sita",replied servant.
All mothers were numb at the information and looked at each other.
They moved towards Lakshman's chamber.
When they reached there , they found that Ram was busy ruffling hairs of Lakshman who was resting on Ram 's lap while Urmila sitting besides Lakshman and Bharat Shatrughan sees them smiling.
"Ram !!", said Kaikeyi going to him angrily.
All see their mothers back and goes to touch feet of them but all the 3 mothers didn't blessed Ram.
Lakshman , Bharat ,Shatrughan and Urmila was shocked to see this gesture of their mothers for their son , Ram.
Ram felt sad but he didn't take this gesture of mothers to heart and smiled.
"How r u Maa , did u enjoy there ??", said Ram smiling.
"How can we happy if our son has abandon his wife , Ram", said Kaushalya with tears and anger.
Hearing this all looked at each other numb .
"Why u did this with your dear wife Sita , Ram?", asked Sumitra.
Tears started rolling from his eyes but he control himself.
"We will never forgive you Ram for what u have done with Sita", said Kaikeyi angrily.
"No maa , don't say this first listen what actually happened",
said Lakshman coming forward to Ram.
Bharat and Shatrughan too came forward , "Listen to me Maa that what happened with Sita bhabhi", said Bharat with tears.
All mothers looked at each other ,"Ok !!", said Kaushalya.
Bharat told all the incident of rubbish talks of citizens of Ayodhya and due to this Lakshman has to leave her in forest.
Tears were continuously flowing from Ram's eyes.
All mothers looked towards each other shocked and numb.
"Lakshman , u came back leaving your Sita bhabhi in forest?" , asked Sumitra angrily.
Lakshman closed his eyes and started sobbing.
Urmila couldn't see him in pain again , she came forward and told about the Sita rekha incident.
All mothers were numb to hear this selflessness of Sita.
Finally, Ram spoke up , " I have to take this decision for the welfare of Ayodhya, if i would have not abandon my Sita ,so citizens of Ayodhya may revolt for demand of Sita's exile.
"And if any one raised fingers on me, i can still tolerate it but if someone raised his fingers on my Sita , it is unbearable for me", said Ram with broken voice.
He moved out of Lakshman's chamber crying.
All looked at each other . Mothers cries for hurting their son Ram and also for Sita who is in forest. Lakshman , Urmila looked towards each other sadly while Bharat - Shatrughan consoled mothers.
After some time , all moved to their respective rooms.
Lakdhman sits sighing on bed putting his hand on his forehead while Urmila sat besides him.
"I am totally upset as to what is happening with us Urmila , nowadays", said Lakshman looking at her.
"Our happiness will vanished like this in so less time , this i have not ever thought ," said Lakshman looking at her tears.
"Desting is so awkward , It changes everything within no moment , Swami" said Urmila sighing.
Lakshman too sighed.
"We have to meet Ram bhaiya , he is very sad", said Lakshman.
"Hmm...Let's move then" , Urmila replied .
They moved to Ram's chamber , the doors were half opened. Lakshman and Urmila looked towards each other and moved inside.
"Bhaiya", said Lakshman looking at him.
Ram was sobbing sitting on floor. They both rushed to him and sat next to him .
"Bhaiya , please control yourself", said Lakshman with tears in his eyes.
"Never feel alone Jijashree, we are always with you" said Urmila putting her hand on Ram's shoulder.
Lakshman wiped Ram tears , " Bhaiya , please don't cry , we can't see you like this."
Ram looked towards them with teary eyes.
"I am crying on my Fate , Lakshman Urmila , Destiny has snatched everything from me", said Ram sobbing.
Urmila looked at her Jijashree Ram took his hands in her.
"I know Jijashree , how destiny has created a storm in our lives but never feel alone , we are always with u" said Urmila with tears brimming in her eyes.
"I very well know thaf u will say yes to us but in reality , u will lonely due to absence of my Sita didi", said Urmila looking at him.
Ram and Lakshman looked towards each other .
"Firstly don't cry , u don't look good in tears" said Urmila wiping Ram's tears.
Lakshman and Ram both smiled .
"Wait , am coming in few minutes", said Urmila smiling brightly.
Ram and Lakshman nodded.
Urmils moved out of the room and Lakshman made Ram sit on bed and started pressing his legs.
After some time , Urmila returned with big plate of food.
Ram Lakshman looked at each other .
"See , i have bring food for both of u , though Sita didi is not here , but , I am here naa , she has teached me how to cook food in childhood days and i can cook like her", said Urmila opening the cover from the plate.
"Jijashree , open your mouth , have this and tell me how it is ? said Urmila smiling.
Ram smiled looking at her and opened his mouth . Urmila put food in his mouth.
Urmila then looked towards Lakshman , "Why are u sitting and looking at us , u too have food , said Urmila putting food in Lakshman's mouth .
Urmila feed both of them in turns and Ram - Lakshman smiled looking towards each other and then at her.
"Tell me , how it was ??? said Urmila smiling brightly.
"As usual very spicy", said Lakshman in a teasingly voice .
Ram laughs.
Lakshman Urmila feels so happy seeing Ram laughing at them and smiled looking towards each other.
"Swami", Urmila frowned.
"I was joking dear , your food is actually the very same as Sita Bhabhi used to cook for us." said Lakshman
"And Jijashree , u ?? " asked Urmila raising her eyebrows to Ram.
" It remind me of Sita food , dear , as , Lakshman said , it was the very same as of your Sita didi" , Ram said smiling at her innocence and putting his hand on her cheeks.
"Jijashree and Swami , now , i will always make food for u as Sita didi is not here otherwise she never let us enter the kitchen even for helping her , she was always ready to make food for all of us" , said Urmila smiling.
Ram and Lakshman looked at her.
"And , u will be having equal rights on our child as me and Swami "said Urmila placing her hand on her stomach.
Ram was stunned .
Lakshman took Ram's hand in his and said" Yes , bhaiya , u will be also having equal rights like us on our child".
Ram looked at him , "Lakshman , But ..."
"No but bhaiya , u will be having and that's final ", said Lakshman looking at him.
Ram smiled at them with teary eyes.
Urmila and Lakshman put their heads on Ram's lap.
"Never feel alone bhaiya , we both be always there for u like your children ", said Lakshman smiling.
"Yes , Jijashree !!!" said Urmila smiling and closing her eyes.
Lakshman Urmila closed their eyes and Ram looked at them with a big smile but also with tears of happiness.
He ruffled hairs of both of them .
"Yes , u both r just like my dear children", said Ram in his thoughts.
Whereas in Valmiki ashram, Sita was sitting silently and awaiting her child's arrival in the world. She was not sad , because , she knew , Lakshman and Urmila will be always present for her Ram like his children.
