Hi Everyone
THE ART OF LETTING GO' Isn't it the lesson Ram wanted us to learn, by asking Lakshman to go to Ravan to learn the meaning of life ?Each one us cling to some events in the past that color our present and stops us from living fully in the moment...the innate ability to protect ourselves excessively ,often arises of our not being able to forget our past.
Ram wanted to free Lakshman from the cycle of both pride and guilt{for Sita's troubles},so he sends him to make peace with his greatest enemy...What a profound lesson!
The other beautiful scene was Ravan realizing his own identity as well as Hari's infinite compassion in fulfilling a devotee's wish .

Bilkul sahi baat kahi hai aapne, Savita di! The past is the ghost that scares and traps the present, unless you give up its fear. Ghosts are personifications of our fears, the same way our past comes back as fear. The fear of this ghost makes us want to protect ourselves excessively. Ravan realizing his identity and his last words, that was the highlight!

There was a beautiful scene today, very symbolic. Ravan burning and creation of Sahasra Ravan. My analysis will cover that

Now Kaikasi's true colors come out. She wanted to create Sahasra Ravan for Ravan's protection. But when Ravan died she doesn't stop, now she wants to use Sahasra Ravan for revenge. Idiot woman. She hasn't learnt one lesson. No wonder Ravan died such a lonely death as Mandodari cries. He was the greatest victim of Kaikasi's Mahatwakamsha. Her wish to take revenge and conquer the world. Ravan was that tool for Kaikasi not son. And Ravan treated the relations exactly the way his mother treated him like tools.

Now what does Kaikasi had told Vishravas while creating Sahasra Ravan, that Sahasra Ravan will be Ravan's shadow. Now when is life coming to Sahasra Ravan, when the body of actual Ravan burns in pyre. Does Shadow have any existence without the actual body. Answer is no. Shadow doesn't have any existence. Can shadow be taken down by a normal human. No. A shadow has to be taken down by a shadow only.

Sahsra Ravan is not another individual , it is just shadow of Ravan. So who is the shadow of Ram. Not Lakshman , because Lakshman is another individual. The shadow of Ram being part of him is Sita. And to take down this shadow, now the liberated shadow of Ram comes. As after the death of Ravan, Vibishan is the king and Sita is no longer a prisoner. Even Sita the Gowri doesn't take down Sahsra Ravan, but her shadow Kali does it.

Problem with Kaikasi is that she is not understanding with Ravan's death the power is gone. It is better to end war. But no, she has to go till last mile. Use all her powers to create something idiotic in the name of revenge. Reminded me of Gandhari's curse to Krishna. When she curses Krishna she uses all her power of chastity. What does she get, nothing. Same is with Kaikasi.

Now come to Sita and Mandodari. After the war a woman gets back her husband and another loses her husband for ever. The contrast was beautiful. A Sita rejoicing in the lap of Prakriti and a Mandodari coming to Ravan's body removing all the symbols of Sanskriti. The parallel was beautiful. When Ravan took away Sita she threw away all the symbols of Sanskriti, her ornaments. And that woman with no bindings of Sanskriti took away all of Solah Sringaar of Lanka woman. All women are standing in lanka without binding of Sanskriti, with all chains broken but unfortunately not the right way.

Same with MB. Panchali unties the hair signaling that she has no husband. And in that untied hair, the hair of most of the women of Kuruvansh is untied. When finally Panchali ties the hair, most woman has become widows. Woman if they don't manage their sons, brothers , husbands the proper way they will be sending their kul to the way Lanka sent or kuruvansh said as one day a Kali will come there to burn everything.

From the time Ravan falls on the ground, more than Ram,it felt as if Hari had taken over. It was reminiscent of Krishna's Gita on the battlefield. But being Ram, he transferred the glory of the lesson to the vanquished enemy.
Shruthi, I too loved the scene of Sahastra Ravan's coming to life interspersed with Ravan's last rites. The connecting thread was Kaikesi,Ravan was born to fulfill her excessive ambition and Sahastra Ravan was conceived for revenge. Ravan had a corporeal form and thus Ram could kill him whereas Sahastra Ravan was an amalgamation of her desires as well as all her negative energy,so he had to be destroyed not by a single manifestation of a restrained power like Ram but by the myriad manifestations of a raw and unbound Bhadra kali. This can in away be representative of the doubts caused by the people of Ayodhya on Sita's character, but since they were not to be destroyed completely it took Ram and Sita's sacrifice to lay them to rest. The difference is the elements involved in their composition. The element of fire in Ravan and Sahastra Ravan's case needed to be dealt with unrestrained power while in Ayodhya it was composed of the element of air which needed a greater forbearance as well a controlled elimination ,without it leading to that degree of destruction as in the prior incident. Hope it makes sense to you all.
Savita
