Guys, I wanted to discuss Ravan's behavior, personality, actions, etc. Basically, I want to discuss his black, white, and grey shades. So, at the beginning, what do you guys think influenced Ravan to start doing Adharma?

You're next! 😆

Many people say that Kaikesi is the cause of Ravan going on the path of Adharma, but I think the main cause was Vishravas. He did not stop Kaikesi from instigating his son, and he did not try to mend him at the right time. Parents have a responsibility of their kids, and when they don't fulfill it, the kids are crooked, like a sapling without support.

both were responsible

kaikesi refused to understand vishrava's words
after kumbhakarna's death I felt that kaikesi would repent for her mistakes but she proved that she will never take the right path

even mandodadri was responsible , she knew the difference between dharma nd adharma then why didn't she bring ravan back to the right path ,, instead she gave him that amrit

True, di! His close ones were all responsible in some way, even Vibhishan. By the way, do you think Ravan was all the way bad or does he have a good corner somewhere?

Nice Topic Gowri :)
For me, Raavan has always been the anti hero more than the villain. His strength, knowledge and power was acknowledged by all God's and Demons alike. But at the same time, he was blinded. Blinded by rage, by power and anger. I think the main thing which led him to take up the path of A dharma was Kaikesis desire to avenge her Father's Death through Raavan. Yes, she was hurt, but she made her desire to end Deva Kul, which was the main problem. Raavan was told from childhood to be all powerful and unconquerable. And then always expecting something in return. It is said in the holy books itself that one should not do any work so as to harm anyone and earn something, and that is what Raavan did, invariably pushing him into A dharma. However, I feel all those around him had an equal hand, for none of them raised their voices to stop him.

Good analysis Gowri. Bondings are Moh Maya. The day you are able to look at your relations with a dispassionate eyes you will start seeing the truth. Truth sometimes will be very uncomfortable, sometimes it can break you too. But there is no point fearing the truth. Just like Ram tells. He acknowledges it that till Ravan is there anything can happen. If you acknowledge the fear the solution will also come, just like Sita's letter.
Ravan ignored his Shakthi Mandodari and that was the biggest mistake he did.
Problem with Ravan. Fault was with Vishravass. He didn't know why Kaikasi married him. Look even now. He is creating Sahasra Ravan for protecting Kul, but Kaikasi has other plans with him.
A man has to know what he is creating, with whom he is creating. Because once the conception happens the power goes to the person who is going to execute it. Kaikasi had Mahatwakamsha so from conception, from the time Ravan is in his mother's womb he is fed on Mahatwakamsha.
This is where Kaikeyi and Kaikasi differs. Kaikeyi's Mahatwakamsha happened later, not when she conceived Bharath. So Bharath was nurtured in womb as a loving long waited child. That's why he didn't yield to Mahatwakamsha later.
The point of conception and those 9 months plays the most crucial role in a child's life. It is shown in Puranas through Prahlad and Abhimanyu.

Phew what an episode, what a fight. It was the fight of 2 worthy opponents. I loved the last expression of Ram when he is Rudra mode thinking about Sita. Loved it. Posting analysis soon
