Hi, may be you all may find it a bit different from your perspective about Sulochana and Meghanaad.

I don't think Meghanaad backstabbed his wife but he let her do her what she wanted but showed her what will happen in the end. Yes, she was going against her sasur and the king. He wanted her to experience the same on her own way. He knew however hard he may try to tell her not to go against Ravan, she will not listen to him and end up making some grave mistake and hurt herself or face a fatal end. He for sure loves his wife to lose her and so when she asked him, he explained her about the maze and told her it changes on daily basis, so every morning by Sunrise it changes on its own. So she had to know that there can't be a pre- printed map for that maze which was created by Ravan with his illusion or maya. In her eagerness to release Sita, she ddin't realize this and also easily forgot that her husband did said though he do agree that Sita aparahan is wrong, he will never go against his father. So here he had not just dual role of husband and son but he had a major role as a commander in chrief of Lankan army and it was his responsibility to safe guard his fort.

Though he gave all data of the maze to his wife, he never gave her direct exit route. He knew she will be over exited with the given details and will exit only by the Sunrise only. He also knew how his father will be on sea shore at that precise moment. Had she reached little earlier, maybe she had a chance to make Sita ship out but she had last so much time in venturing to her MIL and discuss with her and Vibhishan etc. moreover she had left so many witness who could testify against her and her life would have been under scanner. If she were smart enough, she would have ensured that none of the emale demons from Trijhata team had seen her and removed them from the seen with some excuse before she went ahead to meet Sita. But here she went affront and argued with the security team and also fed them drugged sweets & fruits which made them consciousness. But still the power of that drug was not enough to knock them out for few more hours. The she used 4 men from the Lanka army and which commander will appreciate his army men go against their king? One needs to understand that if you are on a secret mission, fight it as a one man army and never share your intentions and plans with others.

Even if Sulochana was successful in shipping Sita into the waiting boat, how long it would have taken Ravan to visualize that and get her back? Or even more was the boat man knew how to reach Panchvati and handover Sita to her husband? After that what would have happened to Sulochana after Rvan realized she had acted against him and breeched his security?

So Meghanad neither broke the trust of his wife nor his father. He was infact helped both of them and still didn't help both. He didn't stop Sulochana from her goal and helped her by giving necessary details to excel in her exam like a teacher give notes to his student the previous day of exam. But that doesn't mean the student can carry that to the examination hall and use it and if caught blame the teacher of breaking the promise. And as a teacher his loyalty stays always with the institution of to the principal. So when he found his student used the notes to breech the security (using the security personal to abduct Sita), he had stay in favour of the institution and take necessary action or debar the student from giving exams. This way he also gave a message to the management that tough paper may eventually make people use wrong paths to succeed. Here Meghana made his father understand that whatever maze he may create, if a person make up his mind to enter and come out, his determination, will make him successful.

So it was neither the son nor the husband who betrayed the trust or enhanced the trust but it was the commandant in chief, Major Meghanad who foiled Sulochana's attempt to go against the state. For a major, his duty is to safe guard the security system and any breech will be punished but here he just let Sulochana go as he knew she was let to commit that mistake only to upraise her about the consequences.

P.S: Sorry if it is not coherent as I could not check it again after I wrote. Time constraint (otherwise it will be the Sunrise 😉). Also sorry if I am totally wrong in analyzing the situation.

@jaya nice analysis and another practical point of view. If you had read my analysis I had expressed something similar but in the context of Prakriti-Sanskriti.

One more thing you bought Meghnad makes his father understand maze can be broken. And it does get broken right. Hanuman breaks it to enter it and after burning Lanka, he meets Sita and then exits from the maze too. Someone without Ravan's permission comes and goes meeting Sita. 😆😆

I read your analysis yesterday night only. But I could not respond. A husband can betray his wife or a son can betray his father, but never a minister or commander in chief betrays his master or nation. True it will hurt his wife emotionally but had he left her to succeed in her venture, what would have been the status of his security? they, the Lankan security would have been a laughing stock in all the 3 world that they could not stop a woman from snooping in to their tight security and carried her mission successfully? Added to that whether it is for best or worst, he needs to obey his kings orders and his kings order is that he give tight security to Sita so that she is placed intact in where she is. Here though Sulochana's intentions were not evil and harm Sita, there was no guaranty that nothing would have happened to Sita after she was sent out. What if Shurpi harmed her while she was away from the protection of Ravan or Meghanad? Then it would have landed on Sulo's shoulder to bear the brunt. She would have reduced to ash thinking that she was responsible for that. her regrets would have increased thousand folds more than what she feels now for helping Shurpanakha earlier by providing makeup kit and helpers.

Infact it was broken logically or literally. though the walls were intact, Sita didn't find it hard to walk back to her seat.
he gave the message that if a person is determined to cross the huddle, no wall can stop him. In a maze, rather than cleverness, one needs to be calm to workout their way. In most cases people get panic and lose their hope and with that they will fail, not because it was impossible task.
