Oh, they have robbed me of the hope
My spirit held so dear;
They will not let me hear that voice
My soul delights to hear.
They will not let me see that face
I so delight to see;
And they have taken all thy smiles,
And all thy love from me.
Well, let them seize on all they can: --
One treasure still is mine, --
A heart that loves to think on thee,
And feels the worth of thine.

Sita in Lanka was thinking these words...when Shoorpanaka insults her; when Ravan holds her capitive; when she observes even the good people in Lanka mute spectators to the wrongs being done to her. There is absolutely no fear in her eyes, though she is a little broken by these unforeseen incidents, but she stands tall with her eyes on her tormentors. With her keen observation Janak's daughter states 'who among us is free from these chains'? she sees the broken Shoorpanaka, the silently suffering Mandodri and Sulochana ,a helpless Vibhishan, a misguided Meghnath.. and above all a egoistic Ravan...She may not know them ,but she discerns their stance. when the tangible chains are removed she walks to the garden and nears the Ashoka tree and then amidst the chaos and the sword hanging over head, she finds her refuge -her memories of Ram. Sita tells before that whenever she was sad ,mother earth was her solace, She hugs her and breaks down in tears...Her mother sends her the only thing she needs-Ram. He comes to her with a smile and in his radiance she loses her darkness. He empowers her with the support she needs to rise above her grief.
Janhavi ,When he gives her the bead it took me back to the scene where he gives her back the earth which had spilled from her pallu in Mithila. Then he had given it along with some promises; Today also he returns her sense of self along with the same. He reminds her of their unbreakable bond and also reassures her that he would fulfill each of their wedding wows. And the third is he tells her he would not let her fall, again reminding us of the Mithila incident. There is one more similarity then also she is leaving everything familiar and embarking on a new journey though it was her choice, but today she is taken forcibly from everything familiar, Hence the repetition of all those promises. What a beautiful loop continued.
The scene where she talks about raksha brought tears to my eyes...for its poignancy as well as the lack of life in her voice.
Janhavi agree with you Meghnadh is impressive.😉Yesterday I felt like asking the dialogue from RDB..."kahan hai mera Ram"? I got my answer today.😆
@Gowri beautiful analysis. Loved it.
