Hello guys! Kya episode tha! I am Madirakshi's fan for life now! Sruthi di and Janvhi di, you always take the good stuff! Aadhya, you are right Ravan always uses strategy, and Ram uses plan! Great job! Now, time for the theme of the episode...
The theme of today's episode is silence. Let me break the silence, and explain. 😉
Sita and Ravan reach Lanka, and are welcomed by the Lanka parivaar and sena. Surpanakha is elated that her brother took her revenge, and thanks her brother. He walks silently from there, surprising her for a minute, but she forgets that soon when she sees Sita. She orders the females to bring Sita at her feet, and starts taunting her. Sita glares at her the whole time, and when she can not bear this anymore, Surpanakha goes to take out her eyes, but is stopped by Ravan. He then tells her that everything in Lanka happens as per his wish, so she can not kill Sita. He also says that to break Sita, she would not be allowed to eat food, drink water, or sleep, and promptly leaves. From this scene, I learned that every person has a breaking point, that is based on his or her weakness. Surpanakha's big weakness is her ego, and when Sita silently breaks it into pieces (again!), she bursts and takes the extreme step of trying to gorge Sita's eyes out. Ravan's weakness is a larger-than-life ego, and when Surpanakha tries to inflict a punishment on Sita without asking him, he can not bear it. See kids, everything depends on your strengths and weaknesses!
Sita is cuffed with chains, and she is still standing strong. Whoever comes and sees her, she stares them down, making them feel guilty for not being able to help her, all except the duo Ravan and Surpanakha. Here, the message is that silence is stronger than words. Silence comes from our feelings, happiness and sadness. The negative aspect, which is shown here, has a deep and painful void that literally bleeds through our spirit. Sita's silence reflects her pain, strength, and determination. Pain caused by Lanka, strength derived from her husband and brother-in-law's love, and determination to destroy Lanka. And these feelings bleed through the souls of the Lanka parivaar. You might be thinking, well then why didn't Ravan and Surpanakha's hearts bleed. Because they aren't human. If they were human, they wouldn't had laughed and rejoiced at Sita's condition. They wouldn't have even thought about the haran in the first place.
A symbolism I have thought of for this episode is that Sita today was Maa Parvati because she possessed the constructive and destructive Prakriti. She posseses the constructive Prakriti when she saw Sulochana, Mandodari, and Vibhishan. During that scene, her eyes did soften, just a tad. Because she is Gauri then, the mother who feels bad when her children can not voice their opinions, especially if they are right. Sita was the destructive Prakriti when Ravan, Indrajit, and Surpanakha come to her. Her eyes harden and she stares with fire-filled eyes. She is then Kali, waiting for the right time to strike and destroy her enemies. Ravan was Mahishasur in today's episode, as he has fallen for Sita (Guys, you could see it, na?), and when he expresses his attraction, Sita turns into Durga. Even though Durga won't be killing Mahishasur this time, her Shiva will destroy Mahishasur and Adharma, with Durga acting as his strength. Also, water, food, and sleep are things essential for survival and strength, but without these things, Sita still stands strong. It was like Sita was announcing to the world that she did not need anything to stay alive, her protective brother-in-law's memories and love, symbolized by her clothes, her loving husband's memories and love, symbolized by her Choodamani, and faith are all that she needs.
That's all from me, guys! I took some time because I had to re-watch the episode to actually analyze it. Sita is just inspirational, and she is my inspiration. Have a great day, and see you for tomorrow's episode!
